Most DB fans say this; that they are moving faster than light or something, but then how are they talking? There is no way to talk going faster than light. The talks alone take more than 5 minutes. There are also times where characters can't even move that fast and yet they do things in times that are impossible. Even on Earth there are sunrises or sunsets, but apparently a day can pass without seeing either. It is really ridiculous.

Is it really these characters breaking the speed of light or is Toriyama really bad at making legit drama and just says whatever to make it seem like it is all good timing. The last couple updates that were roughly a year apart had One Piece at 65% and 70% complete, so if he does actually stay consistent at 5% per year we have 6 years minimum left. However, he could pull another Dressrosa and go on for far longer than planned for an arc, or he could do what he did many years back and add on even more plot stuff to make it last longer, so not even Oda really knows how long it will take. That said, as much as I love One Piece, I do hope it ends sometime soon because I would like to see the end before I die, lol.
If you think that's crazy, it's only been about month since they came back from the time skip. There was only about 3 days between the start of the timeskip to beating Dressrosa. Then they stayed on Dressros for another 3 days. After that it has mostly been around 3 weeks of them selling to Zou and to Whole Cake Island. Of course, when you think about it, most of what happened pre-time skip also happened in a pretty rapid pace as well as far as in universe time goes. I mean the characters only aged up by a little more than 2 years throughout the whole series, and obviously the majority of that was during the 2 two year time skip.
I would have loved to see Super Buu's take on the whole time concept for TFS. He rages not because of how impatient he is - but over how bullshit it is.

When it came to the infamous 5 minutes that Freiza gave. Two things. One. Events are happening all at the same time so when there is a cut to like bulma or earth then its happening during the scene you just previously watched. Secondly the fights are actually really fast so when you think of it like that what events actually happened? Gohan was flying to get piccolo. They got wished to earth. They talk on earth because they're confused. When you break the scenes down to individual sense that could happen in all of 5 minutes technically. Vegeta gets revived from the dead. Sees the dragon. Flys over there. Gets wished to earth. King Kai literally just talks to Goku and the others. Guru is revived just long enough to wish and do what he's gotta do before dying again but this time of natural old age. The only real hole is every time Goku and Freiza stop to chat or stare at each other for eons. Chalk it up to whatever you like I guess. Frieza was off a few minutes making it AROUND 5 minutes. Show mechanic/technicalities because its translated from Manga to tv so manga is probably quicker.
In Frieza’s defense the first time he comments on sky being dark he thought it was because of planet being destroyed and it was for dragon being summoned instead. Later planet was closing to explosion so he was thrown off

It's a good thing only DBZ is so weird with time! Naruto's Fourth Sinobi War lasted about two years in real time, and took two days in-universe. Yu-Gi-Oh spent half a year covering the Virtual Reality story arc, which lasted a few hours for the characters. Each season of 24 takes about half a year to depict a single day. And the last two years of Fullmetal Alchemist cover less than 24 hours.
If you think that is crazy, look at the TV series M.A.S.H. It is set during the Korean War. The Korean War lasted from 1950 to 1953. That show had 11 seasons, spanning from 1972 to 1983.
It is funny how the concept of time is kind of explained in the original dragon ball during the krillin and roshi fight. There were moments in that fight where both of them went so fast that the audiance, with exceptions of a few like goku, couldn't see them. They then explained that they had what could have been a minute or two of fight content. It was an early episode to explain that by the frieza fight and long before it we were pretty much watching the fights in slow motion. I know that it is a running gag with people when talking about it but it kind of got old years ago, and some people are starting to take it seriously.
I think that while the narrator talks or when the fighters aren't moving, it's kind of paused until the next thing happens. That's how 5 minutes turns into 10 episodes.

No, most of the DBZ fights consisted of filler that did not happen in the manga, so it took longer.

It's also really funny when you think about the fight between goku and frieza when the planet is about to be destroyed with a 5 minute time limit, and yet that fight last another 8-10 episodes, so each episode had like 30 seconds of fighting in it. But I guess anime logic states that they move incredibly fast that time just slowed down soooo much that what looks like nonstop fighting for 20 minutes an episode, is actually much less because of their perception of time being slowed down

It is funny how the concept of time is kind of explained in the original dragon ball during the krillin and roshi fight. There were moments in that fight where both of them went so fast that the audiance, with exceptions of a few like goku, couldn't see them. They then explained that they had what could have been a minute or two of fight content. It was an early episode to explain that by the frieza fight and long before it we were pretty much watching the fights in slow motion.
I know that it is a running gag with people when talking about it but it kind of got old years ago, and some people are starting to take it seriously.

I think that while the narrator talks or when the fighters aren't moving, it's kind of paused until the next thing happens. That's how 5 minutes turns into 10 episodes.
