    Wonderful,really enjoyed that and the simple ness of the video ,I bought a Nicholson 303 in Spain that had been abandoned for 14 years ,luckily it wasn’t as bad as condition as you would think ,thankfully it had been out of the water and in the sun ,,anyway fixed it up ,having been a boatbuilder in Cowes for 20 years ,and finally started sailing it ,now currently in Melilla Spanish territory within Morocco ,after an adventurous sail from Almeria ,,,looking fwd to more sailing over the next year ,wanting to do the Atlantic but want a bit more experience first,as although I’ve sailed about 1500 miles it has always been with others in command .

    Awesome video. Thanks. You guys are the real deal - pure sailing - unencumbered by loads of yuppie sh*t. Well done.

    Inspirational video that struck a chord with me as I was in a similar place in 2015. I have got going again since after a fashion but yet to find my 'fortune'. Looking at a C&N 35 from the 80s that's made its way over here to Aus from US, owned by the same people since new. Maybe she'll lead me in the right direction!

    Marvelous video. My first experience sailing in a keel boat was on a Nicholson 32, back in 1968, I was 13yrs old, I have loved those boats, and sailing ever since. Well done to you for making this diary, a real pleasure to watch.

    Lovely! I made almost the same trip solo in 99 but from Tenerife to Martinique in a 27 footer. Your writing brought a tear to my eye I will confess and many times then and since I have wished I had found someone to share the adventures with. Truly you have been fortunate there. Currently I am looking at possible purchase of a Nicholson 32 to get back out there in my retirement years, my return to land based life since has not been kind and truth be told I miss the smell of the sea and the cries of the ocean birds. Best wishes from UK.

    I really enjoyed that, great footnotes too. Many thanks for posting. What you have shared is what I dream of doing. I have a Mk X, my first boat and little sailing experience but more equipment to go wrong 🙄😃😃.
    Fair winds.

    Lovely little film. I came here looking for more info. about the Nicholson 32 as this is a boat I'm interested in purchasing. No sales pitch or list of specifications needed, your smiles and the very fact that these types of passages can be done without the tons of electronics that a lot of people will not leave port without, was enough for me. Fair winds.

      Thank you. I have owned many boats of varied designs. I unqualifiedly endorse the Nicholson 32, fitted with a Monitor wind vane, for any adventure you might imagine.

    Very good video. It seems to have been a very beautiful sailing. A good idea to carry the water suply in gallon bottles. Easy to keep control. I was a little surpriced that you could carry 200 gallons. How big was the boat? Thanks again.

    • @mchurleysr
      @mchurleysr  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there. Thank you. The Nicholson 32 is just shy of 32 feet overall. We carried the fresh water in 500 ml water bottles stowed in various places around the boat, and had a 35-gallon integral tank below the cabin sole in the main salon.

    • @mchurleysr
      @mchurleysr  ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually I think 200 gallons is an error. It was 200 + water bottles of 500 ml each, or about a 50 day supply of drinking water for two people, plus 30 gallons of tapwater in the ship's tank, purified with a teaspoon of Clorox bleach, and used for cooking.

    What a catch!! (and I don't mean the fish) Jill seems to have taken quite a leap of her own to go transatlantic with you so early in her sailing life. Looked like a beautiful voyage. Can you share how you made the closing shots of the boat and Jill with the camera coming up then falling off? Thanks...

    • @mchurleysr
      @mchurleysr  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi JB. Thanks very much. The aerial shots were made using a DJI Phantom drone controlled remotely from the boat.
