Just seen this. A lovely Avon style rod but its really meant to be used with a centre pin, hence the position and size etc of the first ring. I still use my cane rods now that I bought in the 1950s. They were very expensive even back then costing me up to £8•00 about two weeks wages! The thing that really struck me though was how small those roach were. I fished the Broads regularly in the late 1950s and they averaged about half a pound, one and a half pound ones were common, you'd expect one or two over the pound each session. Good luck.
Thanks for your post, very interesting. I would have normally used a centrepin reel with this rod but I'd not used the Ambidex for a while. Some years when I've fished the Broads I've had some good size roach. This year the rudd were bigger! Thanks for watching.
Thank you for your time making this video. One of the best places to go fishing is Norfolk I spent a few days camping in Shipdham nr Dereham and fishing in the little pond with bread for bait catch little bars of soap (tench) and silver bars (Roach).
It must have been an important catch to remember the month in 1972! It's a special place and I caught my first pike in Horning. I have caught some nice roach and rudd there, although none of a pound.

Nice cane pole and reel 👍
Very nice, we keep our boat in Horning, the fishing there is fantastic one of the hotspots for the elusive briads tench 👍

Thank you, I was hoping to catch a Tench but didn't unfortunately, maybe next time.
Sweet… just how I used to remember fishing when I was a kid in the 60’s.
Thank you for watching. I'm glad it brought back some good memories.
Caught my 1st 1lb roach at Horning on holiday in August 1972.
