Very well thought out design for the JTAGULATOR. Just wondering, are there any other quick ways to check for JTAG pins? I’m thinking if the target JTAG Pins have any relationship with GND or Vcc through a certain resistance, or if that resistance changes as the JTAG becomes enabled. Any knowledge would be appreciated! Cheers on the JTAGulator
I really like the serial menu that comes up when you hit “h”. It’s really well laid out and is intuitive to use without needing a separate manual. Well done. I am wondering if you wrote all the code for it yourself or found some sort of open source.
All design documentation, including schematics and PCB layout, can be found at www.grandideastudio.com/portfolio/jtagulator/ The slide presentation located there goes into more detail about specific circuit operation. I've given that presentation at Derbycon, DEFCON, and Black Hat, so you should be able to find those videos on TH-cam. Enjoy!
The JTAGulator currently only identifies the unknown pinout and can perform some basic probing of the target device(s). Eventually, I'd like to integrate support for OpenOCD and UrJTAG, so you can manipulate the target directly without having to use different tools. For now, you'll need to disconnect the JTAGulator and use something like a Bus Blaster, Adafruit FT232H, or other JTAG hardware supported by the above mentioned software.
Do you think it's wise to check the voltage level on those other pins before connecting to your JTAGulator, on an unknown board? Nice device by the way, need to put that on my Christmas list.
Ordered a Jtagulator and was shocked it didnt come with a cable for the price. So - exactly what are the specs of the USB to jtag cable? Is that USB to mini usb?
sir Good day i am a technician i wanna learn that Bus Bluster v3. just ask about extracting firmware or data all devices. but can be extract the data firmware form Android Smart tv to the EMMC chip? thanks sir i want ot have blus buster but very expensive
Perfect timing! I just got mine a few days ago and I'm sitting down getting started now.
Just got this awesome device a few months ago, trying to learn it now.
who the heck would give this video a thumbs down!?!?
THANKS JOE , VERY CLEAR AND INFORMATIVE.
I SEE THAT THE TEST BOARD SUPPORTS LINUX/UNIX THRU RS232 INTERESTING.
Very nice explanation Joe. Putting JTAGulator on my wish list!
Hi,.. i am getting Error 4 when flashing the eeprom of the Jtagulator. What might be the issue? Thanks!

Great video. Would love to know more about the circuit design!

Hi, I think my target board's system volt is 5V. so am I still able to use the JTAGulator ?
Can you show a tutorial on how to extract data from another JTAG device using the JTAGulator?

Nice STYX 8track in the background
Good eye :)

Can this be used in a car computer system?

yes it is in Mini-USB

Does the JTAGulator support OpenOCD ?
thank u its still works even in 2019
very interesting
how many devices have jtag?
Almost everything starting around 1985 and up.
cool,.. i like the 12:39 bit,
Im going to buy one but I want mine to be blue!
awesome :)
Cool
