This was one of my first Gunpla builds like 13 years ago, and it is still probably one of my favorite HG kits even to this day...Its rock solid, has great articulation, looks great, and is very easy to come by

As someone who has this exact kit for a few years, I will say that it's not holding up the best. It can still pull off poses great, but some parts are loosening. The joints holding up the backpack broke on me, but glue can fix it. The polycaps inside the hips that connect to the waist broke and I used replacements from other kits or filed down the pegs on the waist unit. Now this isn't a terrible kit. The reason mine had a few loose and broken pieces were simply from moving it so much. I'm sure if you just keep it in a few poses and never touch it again, it will be sturdy.
The RG while oldschool is really nice looking maybe pick that up instead. Just think about getting waterslides as some of the big white stickers that ago on the blue armor parts don't hold on that well.
@@silentfox9359 I will say for this that the old RG gundam frame absolutely does not hold up. I got mine ~4 years ago and it is extremely loose. If you take good care of it then yes it should last longer, but I really can't vouch for it.
I think Mecha forgot about how much he liked the Shia QuanT and the Command QuanT, which are both based off this kit. It goes without saying if those two kits are good, the base kit would be good (uncolored plastic notwithstanding). Probably going to scoop this up, I've been meaning to replace my RG, and this looks like it would be much more forgiving and easier to get into more dynamic poses.
Mine has held up well, even after all that I have put it through 😅 Its beautiful, strong and shines nicely with some panel lining and fluorescent paint for the gn drives
One thing that needs to be checked with 00 kits is that a lot of the stickers were UV reactive, so it's probably worth checking if the GN drive ones were reactive there
I switched the gn drives to blue (stole it from my shia qant) and ngl they look pretty sick, since they do glow under blacklight as well. Initially had a custom planned where the main weapons would be the limited promo caletvwlch feder from HLJ but to this day, I still haven't begun lol

Maybe if you tried the 1 hour challenge with this one instead of the Djeh you might have been able to do it under 1 hour jaja. Cool to see this. In my case I'm trying to collect and build all the generations of the 00 Gundams. Already got RG Exia and Quant, HG Harute and Zabanya. Gotta get the rest before march maybe
I had one when I was 18, and yes, it was a cool, solid kit and didn't take much time to build. But for me Shia OO Qan(t) is my personal favorite. It's based on the regular OO Qan(t), but has cute cat ears, it's more green and white so it's a cool color, and yes, improvements to the sword. But for me, two of them are really cool kits.
If you ever managed to track down the good ol' HG Gundam AGE-1 Normal, please for your sake build it and admire how much of modern HG engineering you can find in that kit. Seriously, 00 may have began the more widespread usages of those joints, but AGE absolutely made it what it is now. That kit at certain points almost just feels like a sturdy action figure than a model kit.
The only thing that looks with to me is the midsection. The waist looks a bit too wide for what is above but maybe I am just too used to the way the RG looks. While this looks very much like a toy compared to the RG it still is surprisingly nice for such an old HG. Now how about a MG with the new frame or a PG? Bandai needs to get cooking.
Thanks for going retro and doing this review, Mecha! I recently watched 00 for the first time and absolutely loved its story and designs. I wasn’t sure about the HG Qant, but the review sold me on it. Btw it’s funny that even Bandai admitted error with the GN stickers for this, since the Command Qant has a much brighter tone, even with the overall darker tone of that kit.
I dislike Quanta but not because it looks bad, but because I hate a major case of asymmetry 00 kits always looks somewhat toylike out of box, but at the same time look timeless. They never look too old even 14 years after their release.

pretty sure they restocked all the 00 movie kits a couple months ago, just got a quanta a few weeks ago from it blue logo and all

good thing the Command Qan[T] colored parts are tinted just right, you can exchange some then just apply a silver paint on the underside
