Those "unnecessary embellishments" are written in the music. It's a theme and variations solo idiot. It was meant to show off technical ability. That's like saying Arthur Pryor ruined the melody to Blue Bells Of Scotland by "unnecessary ormentation" in his theme and variation solo. Know what you're talking about before you start bitching for no reason.

Mead's tone is much too bright to be in comparison here. He's got the technical aspect down pat, but his tone is nowhere in comparison to this man's.
