Ruined a good solo arrangement with a completely ridiculous tempo for the final variation. Sacrificed accuracy for and musical sympathy for pure speed.
You forget this is a theme and variations. The theme is the theme. The last variation is purely just for a show of fireworks of the theme. I don’t think there’s room to complain for such a fine show of ability to technique.
Are you seriously bitching? This solo was written by Simone Mantia, the greatest Euphonium player of the 20th century. He was John Philip Sousa's euphonium soloist. Those "unnecessary embellishments" are written in the music. It's a theme and variations solo idiot. It was meant to show off technical ability. That's like saying Arthur Pryor ruined the melody to Blue Bells Of Scotland by "unnecessary ormentation" in his theme and variation solo. Know what you're talking about before you start bitching for no reason.
2:44 BOOM!!!
I only dream of being this good.
Wow. Such great pedals and powerful range, and good fancy stuff too.
Very enjoyable 👌Thank You
You could see from his expression at the end it was saying `now THAT is how it is done properly'.
WHERE IS THE KABOOM
INCREIBLE
Wow!
Ummm. Awesome!!!
Where's the Kaboom? There Was Supposed to Be an Earth-Shattering Kaboom!

I am a big fan of David Childs, but why does he have to spoil a damn good melody with unnecessary embellishments?

Ok boomer
overrated. Steve mead is better.
Not everything is a competition.
david childs plays better and doesn't touch kids
Sounds like someone is jealous. Grow the fuck up.
Mead's tone is much too bright to be in comparison here. He's got the technical aspect down pat, but his tone is nowhere in comparison to this man's.
