Rick: This is a belated thank you for the Burbank Card Show advice. I watched your Burbank video on the Saturday morning of the show. Based on your advice I left early. I had already bought an early entry ticket online. Early entry on Saturday was 10 am. Based on your advice I left early, arriving at 9:35am. Parking was easy. I had my wristband by 9:45 am. They were allowing early entry at that time so I walked right in. Last year on Saturday all of the parking lots were full so I gave up without attending. Everything you described in your Burbank video was spot on. Thank you.

I am glad the video helped. Before I had a channel, I always looked for this type of info but not one ever had this information. I am glad it's helpful to you. I try to make one of the bigger shows in the area. Did you have a good time at the show? Thank you for watching!

I'm jealous of all your shows. We have one in October, 130 tables. Nice interesting dodgers set.

and I still complain that our shows here don't have as much vintage as shows out your way. hahaha

Thanks Mike! That envelope was so thick, but it opened up quickly. Glad you like the set. Thanks for watching and have a nice Labor Day weekend.

I had a great time at the show. Dropped off 5 cards for grading. Bought a few low dollar items including a Don Drysdale button. I’m still on the fence about the upcoming Pasadena show.

I want to check out Pasadena cause they moved into a larger room and added 200 tables. Not my favorite show, but I have a ticket so I am in. Hope to see you there!

Howdy Rick ! Love those pin ups. Funny early on Tommy was called Tom Davis. Really nice to have the envelope, that's really cool. That set would look great across the wall up high. C ya !

It's funny cause I didn't notice the card even said Tom Davis until you mentioned it. I've always called him Tommy. I like the envelope too. I just couldn't see myself throwing it away so I bought an extra toplaoder and it included it in the set. Thanks for watching and have a. nice weekend!

@RickAcostaDodgerCardCollector hey Rick I only mention the "Tom" Davis is that's what they call him in the 62 program my Dad has. I always like to see when players change their name, or sometimes have them changed without their say in the matter, like Bob Clemente. Ha ! You too have a great weekend. Peace

It's a fun set, Mark. I don't buy too many oddball cards for my Dodger collection, but I do like some type of representation in my collection of a wide range of sets. Thanks for watching!

Hey Rick. Wow, never about that '63 Dodger pin-up set. Thanks for pulling our coats to that. Definitely reminiscent of the '38 Goudey cards. Heard you say you would be looking for some of those 1969 WS cards of the '68 series. Those are my favorite WS cards. Topps was at the top of its game with those.

Hi Gannon. Yeah, those 1963 cards are great. Definitely influenced by 1938 Goudey. The 1969 World Series cards of the 1968 series is probably my second favorite subset (after 1961 All Stars) of the 1960's.
      Thanks for watching!

    Hey Rick,
I got a sneak peek of your latest acquisition, but it was great to see the full set in your video. It definitely harkens back to the ’38 Goudey design. I wonder if they drew inspiration from it or just came up with the idea independently. The Maury Wills pose is fantastic; it reminds me of Superman getting ready to soar into the sky. I love the Drysdale too, though they should’ve wiped that smile off his face-he never looked like that on the mound! Haha. Frank Howard probably would’ve made the Hall of Fame if he had played for Gil Hodges and Ted Williams from the start of his career. They really helped him become a more disciplined hitter.
I also loved what you shared about Joe Moeller and Duke Snider. I didn’t know any of that, but I’m glad Duke apologized and that they later became friends. He was definitely out of line.
Good luck with your pursuit of the ’69 World Series cards-a great subset design from a classic World Series. I would have been pulling for the Tigers if I’d been alive in ’68.
Thanks for sharing, and enjoy your mom’s visit!

      Hi Terry:
Yeah those 1963 cards definitely have a 1938 Goudey feel. I wonder about your question. I'll say the guy that designed the 1963 was a vintage baseball card collector. HAHAHA
The Koufax is my favorite, but I din't think about the Drysdale. You're right, he should have looked mean. I don't think it helped Frank Howard playing at Dodger Stadium all those years. It's a pitcher's park. Duke Snider actually said that Moeller was already making enough money so a half share was enough for him. OUCH! Duke could be ruthless sometimes. I heard he was kind of a complainer.
      Thanks for watching, Terry!

They look great Rick. 1964 topps Roseboro gotta be my favorite of his. Im keeping minecin the loaders too they're minty as is no need to pay 50 bucks each to get them slabbed imo. Have a great labor day weekend my friend. Go Dodgers!!!

I certainly agree with you that after the Brooklyn years, the Dodgers shifted their emphasis to pitching and contact hitting rather than slugging. I've always admired Roseboro; he was rightly in Topps' 1962 all-star subset. Is that a vague image of Pee Wee Reese on the envelope?

    • @RickAcostaDodgerCardCollector
      @RickAcostaDodgerCardCollector  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

I don't think it's PeeWee case the player is batting left handed. Dodgers focused on pitching a lot once they moved to Dodger Stadium. I feel the more famous LA Dodger players are pitchers.
I'm a big John Roseboro fan. Someone should write a book about him. Thanks for watching, Michael.

A gentleman told me that a group has been hosting card shows a few times a year in El Paso, which is something new that surprised me. I should check it out. They advertise free parking and free admission, so - like you - I figure they have lots of Pokémon and new stuff. So I had to grin at your comment.

I would say you should go Michael but that feeling of going to a show and seeing Pokemon and new stuff just kills me. I've actually lasted less than 10 minutes at some shows. CRAZY!
