  • I took advantage of the nice winter weather. -5 degrees Celsius / 23 Fahrenheit and almost no wind. Thank you Andrej for your company and your sacrifice. ;-)

Zimska idila in traktor na nebu, lepo.

Hi. With the right setup, do you think this could cruise at 72kph (or more) for 1 hour (or more)? Thanks!

Hi, the most efficient speed is 55-60 km/h. At that speed with 4S 6200mAh it can easily fly for 1h20min and travel 50+ km. It can fly up to 120km/h in straight line, so it can be fast. 70 km/h would reduce flight time a bit, however, travel distance might not be reduced.
With a little bigger battery (which it can carry), you could achieve 70+ km/h and 1h+ flight time.

@@mihavuk This is very helpful, thanks! Do you have a rough idea what the largest battery is that would fit? I wrote the company to ask for dimensions, but haven't heard back yet. I don't mind modifying the fuselage a bit to make a larger pack work, if needed.
I also wanted to ask you how it handles wind gusts? If I'm using it to fly autonomously (for mapping) and it's flying a straight line, do you think 6-9m/s wind will cause drifting/crabbing issues if I'm not on the sticks? I appreciate your help.

@@DA98623 There is plenty room upfront for the battery, it would happen that you'd encounter on CG issue sooner than running out of space. My friend shown me some pictures from I don't know where showing a guy making custom LiIon packs, big in the front and smaller on the back in total of 20.000 mAh. 🫨 I'm totally fine with what I have. In few occasions I encountered on thermals giving me free lift into enormous heights. Still legal of course. 😉 Flight times were more than 2 hours on 1 occasion, I had enough and deliberately landed with 70% of the battery.
It withstands high winds, it has enough power to fly into high winds. It is just bouncy in such cases. In extremes such as 10+ m/s wind it "drifts", meaning it looks like a drift car when looking at it LOS, but it still follows the line, for example 100m RTL Loiter radius. You know, you see everything if you fly FPV, people on the ground are saying "It flies like on rails" while you can see each bump.
If you don't need a lot of power, I believe you can fit 8.000mAh low C LiPo in there without any mods. It would have to be all the way back, right to the FC tray to have good CG. But stock setup pulls up to 50 Amps and this plane can exceed 120 km/h in straight line without wind assist, it can do loopings and you are giving up all that with very low C high mAh battery.
Of course I couldn't use full sized old school air unit (45g) and full sized Gopro Hero 8 (120 g), both on the front as I can now with much heavier battery.
