Every time I Jackie Daly playing his Polkas of his French made accordion' I drop my crutches and I am up and dancing all over, the floor down the hallway, out the front door and out onto the street, this drives my nurse crazy, they say that have I not walked for years and I will break your neck also that this is no way for an old man to behave, I tell my nurses that this is the power of Irish music but they do not understand, they are more into house and rap music
On Jackie's 1st recording, Music from Sliabh Luachra, the first track is 3 polkas, the last two of which are also the last two here. He calls them Johnny Leary's and Jim keefe's.
Did you catch that right hand action, right at the very end? Pointer held down as a drone as the other three fingers kept on polkaing. That's mastery, right there.
There are a lot yes. Most written by John Walsh or Timmy O'Connor. Jackie would learn them at the session at Scully's Pub in Newmarket, but either they didn't have a name it he didn't know it, and they would just wind up referred to as Newmarket polkas.

Great clip. He played Ottawa, Canada, last night, and he is still this good. Absolute legend, and a very nice man.
I wish that he would come to my one-horse town, the only problem is they would be just the horse and me, as no other people live in our area.

Not the same Newmarket Polkas he recorded with Patrick Street - maybe there's an endless supply of Newmarket polkas ? Great set anyway.😀
