Bronze is stronger than brass, copper or aluminum...so make sure that you go with a BRONZE shift bushing! After a few weeks of driving with mine, it feels great! You feel it the most during spirited driving when you're really throwing the shifter into gear. Bravo 5X Racing...Bravo!
Jeff Stewart don’t be jealous; save up and buy one. I know it’s expensive, but it’s a one time purchase that’s worth every penny. It totally transforms the interior. It’s by far my favorite interior mod. I think I used tax return money to buy mine. It’s worth it!
I don't know if you ended up getting it, but I've had it for a year now and I'll tell you that the cup holders are still completely useless if you're using massive American cups and will get in the way when you shift into 5th and reverse. All I use it for is to hold my little gum container. Butttttt, the increased center console storage is really nice. Definitely not $200-$300 nice, but hey, it is what it is. It really cleans up the interior, that's for sure
@@BecauseMiata First of all, 3 years ago? Geez time flies. And yes I got it this year and ran into the same useless cup holder issue. However it does work for coffee and water bottles and looks way better than the stock one.
Be mindful of your camera location; there were a couple of the washer descriptions which got lost because where you were demonstrating them was out of frame completely.
Thanks for watching! Yes I'm really enjoying the bronze shifter bushing. I'm not sure if there's a "break in period", but it does feel a little better after driving it around for 2 weeks. I really feel it the most when power shifting during a spirited run. Thanks again!
Hey 5X Racing. I received my '90 rebuild kit from you guys today. Looking forward to getting it in sometime next week. I'll be looking you guys up for some suspension parts real soon.
You really must do something about that big hole in your driveway though. Before you know it you'll be losing tools into it which will be a pain in itself, but if your neighbour or the mailman fall into another galaxy through it you'll have serious problems... 🙃
Another great video mate. When funds allow and other essentials like the timing belt have been done this is one of the next things on the list. So it's going directly into my list of saved videos. I already did transmission and diff fluid changes but I'm interested to see your take on those too. Keep 'em coming dude. Oh yeah and that parrallel universe bit cracked me up 😅😅
Thanks for sharing! I ordered my 5x kit today, so hopefully it will be installed next weekend. I noticed you only had 1 pin in the turret which allowed the bottom bushing/wave washer to be removed. Another video I saw had 2 pins and the turret had to be removed completely. Perhaps it was an NB Miata.
Update, got the new bushing installed. My turret was essentially bone dry lol. Both rubber boots were torn, you could feel the heat at the base of the shifter boot while idling in traffic. I also have the factory plastic bushing on order and would like to try it as well. The bronze one should last longer than the plastic one but still has a little too much play in it for me.
I have the same center console. I find it hard to shift into 5th if i have drinks in them. Especially if its something a bit bigger than a 12oz can. Trying not to punch my drink out of the holder lol.
dude, you got the best video effects. Also how much do those center console go for? Thinking about getting my na a nb soft top with glass like your other vid. But first I want that console, where, how much?
Thank you so much! So the center console is made by IL Motorsports, and you can buy it from a few places, but I ordered mine from Moss. A lot of people don't get it because it's really expensive...and it is...but...it is totally worth every penny. It's $299 for the console and $49 for the armrest padding. I know that's a lot, but there is nothing else that I've done to the car that transforms it more. You spend most of your time INSIDE your car, so it only makes sense to spend a little money fixing up that area. I would absolutely buy it again if I had to. Not only does it give you 2 decent cup holders, but it also moves your power window switches forward to a more comfortable position. mossmiata.com/redesigned-center-console-by-il-motorsport
I recently just did this for my nb and was very confused about how the bronze piece was supposed to fit. Glad I read the directions. Anyway, great video man! I really love your content. How do you think the shifter feels now?
Thanks for watching! So far I really like the way it feels. I read somewhere that there may be a break in period for it to loosen up a bit. I like it. Do you like yours?
I installed mine and it wouldn't go into reverse. Installed the standard plastic one and it was fine. Don't know why but it was definitely the metal bushing causing an issue. Any ideas?
Try the metal bushing again and try forcing it in and out over and over. Just sit in the car with the engine off, and work the shifter. If I remember correctly, mine was a bit hard to get into reverse at first, but now it's super easy.
You really need to do something about that hole in your driveway though. At the very least you'll be losing tools into it, at worst if anyone falls into a parallel universe through it you might get sued.

Delrin do the best one. I changed my 5x one
And Redline is THE gear oil
@@andyvaid69 No, unicorn tears (ford xt-8-qa) is the oil! :)
I just rebuilt mine after watching video this twice. Couldn’t have gone smoother. Thx for the help/instructions! Rebuilt shifter much much crisper.
I'm very jealous of your center console with the relocated cup holders. Great video!

I didn't notice till I read your comment that's awesome
how much?

Robin Forrest you’re right! I didn’t even think about an insurance liability!?!?! Lol

Lol, Thanks for watching man.
Great video and helpful, but it would be nice to speed up the video in some of the area. I don’t think we need to see all three bolts removed. Thanks

Just found this channel! Thank you sir !!! 😁
15:43 Dawn Dish soap works super. Just a couple of drops.
Thank you so much! Now I gotta go do it.
Valve cover bolts do have a torque spec and should be torqued down
Nice video editing
Great video... appreciate it helped the install
Does the shifter feel different, you should review the product that you are installing
Yes it feels a little different, and I’m giving it some time to get used to it. I’ll review it in my next video. Thanks for watching!
I just released a new video with a review at the end: th-cam.com/video/l4mPr50JE3o/w-d-xo.html
I learned a lot mind is hard to shift when cold I thought it might be the transmission after seeing this maybe its just the shifter I hope
Give it some time to break in. Mine is much easier to shift now than it was after the install. I really love this mod! Thanks for watching!
Hey!! Love the video, super excited to do mine. Was just wondering about how long this mod took you to complete?
I have the same center console. I find it hard to shift into 5th if i have drinks in them. Especially if its something a bit bigger than a 12oz can. Trying not to punch my drink out of the holder lol.
I am car dumb. But I think I can do this with your detailed video. Thank you.

That looked so easy ty

Because Miata for sure, but I feel it's a tad more difficult to put in gear. Could just be the break-in period though.
Friskoism how’s it holding up now ?
It's too bad a majority of the items you were talking about and trying to show us about the shifter was off-screen.
I installed mine and it wouldn't go into reverse. Installed the standard plastic one and it was fine. Don't know why but it was definitely the metal bushing causing an issue. Any ideas?

23:00 Apply the lub to the rubber - less messy.
Awesomeness
LOL...thanks

Any update review on the brass va plastic bushing
No news is good news. Nothing new to report. It still feels the same as when it was installed.
You should check your camera's focus because you are mostly speaking about something that we cannot see.
so annoying tha you did show the play in the shifter after the repair.
thats not transmition fluid.. that fuild is only on that small pocket for the shifter
good vid but stretched out to much
