I am going through all your videos one by one. Your sincere efforts to teach the nuances of playing Veenai is very admirable and to my knowledge no teacher will give these kind of detailed explanations to students . I really thank you for this. I will pray God for giving you loads of good health happiness, success and prosperity. May god bless you
This is really a very important video. You have told how the tonal quality can change by using hand dynamics and techniques. These are the most important aspects for veena players and you have told it in a very simple language.
Ok Mam. Also I feel, the sound stays for a longer duration if the fingers are tightened while playing and the abrupt breaking sound doesn't come while moving between the swaras.
Namaskaram mam! This is such a wonderful elucidation - you are reinforcing the hand dynamics in detail!. You are bringing out the intricate methods -be it physical hand movements or the swara prayogams. Should we try these while practicing the sahityas for the geetams. Asking this because at the initial stages of learning the geetams we tend to byheart the swaras as first step . But playing the swara patterns does not bring out feel of the song. So I think we should explore these hand techniques while learning to play the sahityam . Your lessons are so motivating to learn and practice. Thank you so much mam!
Thanks Kousalya. I think you should wait until you reach varnams, to try these things out. Focus priority at the basic should be talam. After learning 2 varnams you can revisit the geethams to see the magic of gamakams.
