North isn't merging with another team I can tell you that right now, but this wound is self inflicted. They turfed Boomer out a year or two too early which really was a bad and probably morale damaging call because right up until his last game he was still playing well. And Ben Brown was by far their best forward and is proving his worth at Melbourne, letting him go was mindboggling.

Why should North get a Priority Pick? They played finals 4-5 years ago? Their position right now is their own doing. Carlton got jack all and were told it was their list management that got them in the mess…

If they are still lingering in 18th this time next season, then seriously discuss a priority pick then.

I 100% agree with you but for the sake of playing devils advocate, Carlton are one of the biggest clubs in the land who have always been autonomous and self sustaining, so the AFL saw little need to help them from a purely business perspective, whereas if the Kangaroos keep falling short of success that could mean the end of the club, being a smaller club

It's a combination for North Melbourne of bad list-management, skills coaching and the fact in nearly twenty years they have never really bottomed out like other clubs. Where other teams raced to the bottom to get high draft picks North floated year after year just outside the eight getting nothing.
