  • In this video we show you how we know how many pinhead crickets we have. This helps with managing the cricket population!
    Enjoy!

Love the channel! My main curiosity is whats involved going from frozen crickets to getting a completed package? I'm interested in going this route in Canada, just wondered what all is involved legally and costs with safety permits or outsourcing the packaging etc.. Thank you! ( I know our rules will be different in our countries but still interested in what you had to do to get them approved and packaged.)

Great question. There actually isn't a lot of rules here in Australia. We just to freeze, wash, boil and roast the crickets.
Then after that we ship the crickets off to manufactures that have their own processing rules.
We just have to make sure we kill and bacteria before we sell them. By having 3 sections for killing bacteria we are pretty safe.
The industry is still so new, so more rules will come in soon!

@@Schubugs No not anymore. I removed them right away. It looks like dust from the food and everything is underneath. I do wonder where it comes from. Have I had the soil too wet? Is the environment too humid?

@@martinahaanschoten3481 could be a number of factors. Aim for 28 degrees and when you make your breeding soil, squeeze some soil in your hand and if water slowly drips out then it's perfect

I was surprised to see larger crickets, and at least one adult among the pinheads. Wouldn't that lead to cricket cannibalism?

Cannibalism is important to consider. However if there is enough food then they don't eat too many other crickets. But it's important for their life cycle to eat each other.

3200, not 32000 haha. Still too many unless you cram those containers full of egg cartons...

No clear details on volume and numbers. 1 gram will have 3500 hatched each weighing 0.0006 gram. Either confirm or clarify
