Almost made me cry to be honest. This was the first Ricky song I ever heard, and the one I relate to the most. The past few years, the holiday season hasn’t been the easiest for me, so it’s been really nice to have a song that validates that instead of the traditional ‘happy-go-lucky’ Christmas caroles. ngl, The fact that this released right at the end of one of the toughest years for me personally, after being dealt all sorts of mental issues and emotional problems by whatever cosmic being is up there, makes this song's re-release all the more lovely (for lack of a better word). For me, it's a reminder that even if my experiences (or rather, extended periods of my life) have shaped me into such a troubled person that I can't let myself be happy for even a day, or if I'm nowhere close to being the best person I can be at the end of it all, there's still someone there. Someone who listens, who cares, who doesn't hate or berate me for letting things affect me. It's a reminder that the new year is close, and new memories come with it. It's a way for me to say that This December I'll remember where I came from and what made me who I am, that I'm not perfect and make my peace with it, that i'll be kinder to myself and heal from the year's wounds. And that I won't be alone during it. -the remastered music is a plus too just saying- So...yeah. On the offchance that you see this Ricky, thank you for your music. Not just this, all of it. It's been with me through rough spots and times spent crying alone in a corner or singing gleefully in my room. Thank you Ricky, really. I hope this december treats you well man :)❤

The new instruments, the different cadence in “God knows, I do.” In the second verse. The organ! The drums, especially near 2:50! The new guitar! Even the bells, they may be cliche but they’re amazing! And the ending beautiful!!! Love 3:00 so much! It’s slower and much more dramatic and feels both so much more somber and it just hits me in the feels!!! So happy one of my favorite songs from you has an amazing new version!! This song has so much meaning to me. The first time I heard it was January of 2022. December 2021 I finally met a wonderful man from another country that visited me for the most romantic 2 week road trip vacation of my life after having been speaking for a year online. In January after the vacation he said his emotions were too high and he didn't know how to cope with that and the distance. He decided to end the relationship. He asked for no communication of any time for at least 6 months. A week later I received an invitation to begin working in a laboratory in his country. Ironic. Fast forward a year. I had lived in his country for months, picked up his native language, and finally reached out to him again to meet up. We met a few times over a couple of months and in December of 2022 he called me to say that he was ready to admit his love for me and we started a relationship in truth. Now this song comes out in time for our one year anniversary. Yes, I will remember this December. Thanks for the wonderful music and how its meaning has changed for me over the years.
