She was... simplifying the issue a bit. Even Mystra cannot make a Mind Flayer back into a Human, body and soul. The Original Gale is very much dead, what is left over is a Mindflayer that has Gale's thoughts, memories, and Personality. What Mystra's probably offering is to snatch his soul back from wherever it ended up, give it the rest of Gale's memories post transformation, and then have it chill in the afterlife with her.
It’s actually really cool that she was able to send him to Elysium for his sacrifice. Even as cruel as Mystra was to him, she wouldn’t let others chosen/mindflayers/crazy wizards disturb his sacrifice in the material plane
I beat the game recently as gale on my first run and had the same situation, I returned the crown but chose to stay with shadowheart, but gale returned as human and they were both talking about sneaking out of the city as if he was a mindflayer
Is Asmodeus as powerful as Mystra? I don't think so. Not to mention that Raphael is more powerful than Gale(as Gale put it, no matter how powerful wizard, mortals cannot use the weave to it's full extent), so i think that crow would boost him even more than Gale. But who knows, possibly only Larian. Maybe there will be DLC where we will get to see what would happen if Raphael got crown.

We weren't facing gods. We were facing their Chosen .At least do your homework. All gods, even Mystra, were once mortal -> which explains Gale's own ambition to be a god (if you make that choice for him). It's his Naivety that gets him in the end, because while Mystra ascended like him, she has a greater wield of power over magic than Gale who simply has an abundance of it. Skill > mass, which leads to Gale being popped like an annoying zit when he claimed godhood in front of Mystra.

When you compare both mindflayer and non-mindflayer endings, you quickly realize that Mystra... Simply didn't truly love Gale. Why is that, you may ask ? Well, it is simple. Love -TRUE love- makes you blind to one's faults and vices. And whyle Gale was lovestruck with Mystra when they elloped together, Mystra most likely wasn't. And it shows during the non-mindflayer ending : as soon as Gale is on the verge of achieving godhood (ans thus becoming competition for Mystra), their whole relationship crumbles as if it never existed to start with. That's just Mystra stopping to pretend. She stopped to pretend that Gale was anywhere close from her. She stopped trying to lure him into thinking he was his equal. She put him against the sheer truth: he made NOTHING to deserve being a god.
This precisely what i was thinking when i saw Ilithid ending. I mean it was not a whole reason why Emperor tempted you the whole game? So that the player's power can grow beyond what most mortals can accomplish?? Combine it with Karsus's Crown and it should be at least draw.

I almost want to say that this was prior to that patch where there is an epilogue. I played as Gale as well during a playthrough and this is pretty much the same ending I got. So I actually don't know what happens now if you play as Gale now because I guess it's canon that he becomes a god and visits the other companions as one. Maybe instead of losing to Mystra and essentially dying, Gale maybe either beats Mystra or ends up in a draw and he goes away to become a god, I don't know.
In mine he becomes a teacher. Given how Gale read what happens to Karsus with his powers, it would be very unlikely for him to follow the steps and ambition to ascend into godhood.

But she can, she's one of the few beings that can strip you of magic near irrevocably if she so chooses because her domain is magic. She is the goddess of magic on toril and the only way to avoid this without warring her as an ascending god would be to permanently leave toril.

Mystra's offer to go to Elysium likely doesn't result in a good ending for mind flayer Gale. Mind flayer Gale's memories since Ceremorphosis will be put into human Gale. Then mind flayer gale's body will likely be destroyed and its icky far realm soul cast aside.
Technically how its SUPPOSED to work is you aren't you. You're the tadpole. One of The Dark Urges new endings reveals they keep their soul despite this. So its POSSIBLE I supposed.
Potential spoilers ahead: As far as I know, only the player character, Karlach or Orpheus can become mind flayers. So Gale can become one if you play as him, but not if he's a follower.
If you're doing that then have him in the party when you free Orpheus and you can make him nuke himself instead of being a mind flayer. Which I think is the best ending.
Yes, in that ending Gale becomes a God of the Netherweave and tries to challenge Mystra, however he forgot that Mystra already planted a fail-safe in his Netherese core way earlier so she just detonates it.

Yes, in that ending Gale becomes a God of the Netherweave and tries to challenge Mystra, however he forgot that Mystra already planted a fail-safe in his Netherese core way earlier so she just detonates it.
@@boanoah6362but it makes little sense to kill him since the choice the player chose was to become a god of ambition and not of the weave.
If the YT chose the 3rd one I can see why they would fight but the second seems like a neutral decision
@@biomistflorist658 Gods are always in conflict with other Gods, further Mystra isn't exactly a very cheritable Goddess regardless. Having her ex-lover become a God imbued with the netherweave itself and laying potential claim to Ambition itself is a step beyond her comfort zone.
Gods will kill Gods for less and Mystra in particular despises the netherweave.

Do you HAVE to play as Gale for him to become a full mind flayer? Or can I make him one when he is just a companion character?
As far as I know the only companion who can make the ultimate sacrifice and become full illithind instead of the player is Karlach so yes, I'm pretty sure you have to play as Gale.
Honestly I need a DLC where I can somehow kill these gods.

whats funny is if i remember correctly Mystra was not super attractive when described in the books, she was possible but not drop dead gorgeous like they depict her here, it makes you wonder how Gale could even look a t another woman.
