    Thank you for reacting !
"They are so adorable" - well, their genre a lot of the time is called: kawaii-metal (Kawaii = Japanese cute/adorable culture) :-)
Basically, Japanese pop vocals combined with all kinds of metal sub-genres. Why does this exist ? A producer was working with bands in Japan and music for bands wasn't popular in Japan anymore, so he was asked in to work at the kids division. There he started looking for talent and he found this talented 10 or 11 year old who had a very loud style of singing (Suzuka Nakamoto/Su-metal in Babymetal). He figured out, maybe I can work with her on the loud music I like: metal music. Obviously because interest in bands had declined he did not get any support from the company for this project, they allowed him to work on it as a side project in 2010 as part of a bigger project so it wouldn't be a financial loss/risk. Yui(metal) and Moa(metal) were also part from the beginning of Babymetal with Su-metal at the center. It took a few years for Babymetal to gain fans and as Suzuka was going to leave the bigger project Babymetal was allowed to continue in the second half of 2012.
5'2" and tiny, you are still taller than the girls in this video, but only a little bit. The tallest is maybe now your height.:-) Luckily you can join after some time, when it's become a circle pit, they are safe.
"I don't know how they do it." This was an almost 1.5 hour set, but what they have is: solo/duo songs (main singer sings, other 2 take a break, the other 2 sing as a duo and the main singer takes a break). And smart breaks in songs, for example like the first minute of this song.

    Formed 2010.
Original lineup: Suzuka "Su-Metal" Nakamoto, Yui "Yui-Metal" Mizuno (left the band 2018) and Moa "Moa-Metal" Kikuchi. Kami Band are their backing band. If you're familiar with DragonForce, you'll recognise the opening guitar riff. The song was co-written by Herman Li of DragonForce. 🦊 🤘

"Stand up and shout, Shout!, Justice Forever!" - (Road of Resistance) -
They are Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto, or Su), Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi).
(NOTE: Only Su-metal should have a hyphen, since it represents a long "u" sound.)
This performance is pretty much a master class in audience control.
They were at Saitama Super Arena (SSA) in January of 2015, with a sold out crowd of over 20,000.
BABYMETAL's lead singer, Suzuka Nakamoto first appeared at SSA in 2008 as a member of the J-Pop trio Karen Girl's, when she was 10 years old.
She's been back many times since, headlining with BABYMETAL, as well as opening for 'Guns 'n' Roses a few years ago.
Guitarists that night were Takayoshi Ohmura (with "Pink-chan") and Leda Cygnus. The bassist was BOH, and the drummer was Hideki Aoyama.
Hideki's father and brother were also drummers, so it's kind of in his blood.
The other current Kami Band drummer, Anthony Barone, is phenomenal as well.
He used to play with Shadow of Intent.

I am very happy you checked out Babymetal. They are a very talented group from top to bottom and put on a fantastic show. Babymetal is famous for having a LOT of variety in their music. You will hear just about every subgenre of metal along with pop, rock, and whatever other genre they can put in there. Whatever style they throw at you, it is done very very well. Nothing is half-assed.
Kingslayer is definitely an outlier for Babymetal in that they are not about 'cuss and swear, bitch at the world' music. They are about positivity, perseverance, and always moving forward no matter how hard your struggles.
Su has a great voice and her stage presence is phenomenal. If you watch more from Babymetal can I suggest their song 'Akatsuki'? th-cam.com/video/g2372C5PJLM/w-d-xo.html

Great reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL galaxy. As others have said already, at 5'2" you are maybe a shade taller than Su-metal is now, Moametal has made it to 5 feet and a bit ... and she is not small.
In this video (from Saitama Super Arena early in 2015) Su-metal was just 17, Yuimetal and Moametal were 15 - and that was a sell out crowd of 20,000 or maybe a few more people completely under their control.
Sadly Yui left the band 2 years ago in October 2018 following a 12 month absence for undisclosed health reasons. Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo and since the start of the 2019 tour they have been supported by three girls (Kano, Riho and Momoko - the 'Avengers') who dance in the third spot on a sort of rota basis each one performing one show or maybe a handful of shows at a time.
Yes they have choreo for all their songs (except for Su's solos perhaps where she makes up her own choreo - their choreographer has said about how she is an extraordinary and natural dancer and how, unlike most dancers who count the beat, she just moves with the music). This was at the end of a nearly 90 minute show and they had been keeping up that same level of both energy and precision for every minute right from the start.
The choreo isn't just dancing for the sake of dancing either, it is usually interpretive of the meaning or the feeling of the song, but more importantly it is designed to get the crowd involved - when Yui and Moa jump or make a certain move so does the audience.
I will echo the suggestions for 'Headbanger' live at Legend 1997, 'Megitsune' and 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' live at Sonisphere in the UK 2104, but you could pick any song you liked and every one of them will surprise you - and in the best possible ways.

Some have argued with me that Su is actually 5'3" recently, using a photo of her and Moa with Billie Eilish (who is apparently 5'3" herself) where Su is the same height or maybe slightly taller while in her short heels. I personally stand by the idea that she's like 5'1.5", but the photo was interesting given the angle.

This performance of Road of Resistance is constantly recommended for good reason. Everything about it is so epic, and that includes whoever put this video together. Most of Babymetal's pro-shot videos are of this quality and they do a surprisingly good job of almost making it feel like you were at the concert, which is impressive in and of itself.
There's many directions to go from here; their songs vary so much. For another excellent live performance you could check out "Headbanger" from the "Legend of 1997" concert. That was one of the two songs that got me hooked on them.

Just making sure I didn't miss something, you mean just putting their logo over the video to make it harder to see? That has been working a lot lately. I'm not saying it was him specifically, but ever since Sonny Von Cleveland called Amuse out on the blocking of stuff, they have backed off on this song especially for strikes and blocks.
It's funny, because they were just starting to block the crap out of this song when I got into BABYMETAL back in April and people were saying it used to be one of the safest songs to react to, now it seems to be trending back to that.

As for making the video "harder to see", for fans, I'm assuming you've all seen this performance/video multiple times and a one off from a reactor who is watching wouldn't matter at all.

Loved your reaction! Thank you! Yes, they do these choreographies from start to finish. This song was the closer of a 1.5h show. We actually don't know how they keep the energy that high. Their recent shows are "only" a bit over an hour, so i guess, as they're getting older, they can't keep up for 1,5h anymore. Especially when on tour, where they perform every day. I've seen people complain about the shorter shows, I don't really get that, these shows must be super tiring. You should check out "Headbanger live Legend 1997" next. Have fun!🦊🤘

Welcome to the Fox hole... It is deep but welcoming :). If its angelic you want, check out "No Rain, No Rainbow" which is kind of a power ballad. Su is a solo singer on that but she is just perfect. As suggestions for you, I would say :
    Megitsune official video,
Doki Doki Morning (from when they first started),
Akatsuki (another Sumetal solo but again, perfect),
Headbanger live and BabyMetal Death both from Legend 1997.
To be honest, pretty much every track is unique and different and you will get variety across every song. Gimme Chocolate is the one that must people listen to as a first listen due to its shock element (hence having 127 million views I think).
I think that whatever track you react to next you will gain a lot of views and a lot of subscribers.
Finally, a word of caution, Amuse are renowned for copyright claims, so if that happens other reactors tend to do a video on TH-cam like a link and sync, or upload the video to an external sharing site and having a placeholder video on here.

With 5'2" you'd fit right in with them. I saw people write Su is 5'1"/155cm, but I think she's a bit taller, because Kano, one of the Avengers (the three rotating dancers without mics who fill Yui's spot on stage), was measured at 157cm/5'2", probably in spring. She turned 16 in August, so it's more or less subject to change. Kano looked a bit taller than Moa, but smaller than Su on stage in January. I think Su should be around 158 or 159cm/5'2.5", which would be Momoko's (who's another Avenger) last measured official height around 2 years ago, when she was 15 or 16. And Moa is probably between 152 to 154cm, which would be around 4'11" to 5'. Just for the record, I just converted the heights in feet and inches, so I have no idea if my conversions are right or not.
Almost forgot: You'd probably have nothing to be afraid of at a BABYMETAL concert. They call these pits "Mosh'sh pit". It's a mosh pit where everyone looks out for one another.

    • @facufeg86
      @facufeg86 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah, Su is around 158-160cm. But, have in mind that Su wears high hills/shoes with a little bit of platform during live shows. But even without those shoes, i think she is actually taller than Kano (157cm) but not for much.
She might be tiny but on stage, she looks like a 2m tall girl! What a stage presence, what a stage presence!!!! 👏👏👏

    • @ANDOR-
      @ANDOR- 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@facufeg86 Absolutely agree with the 2m. When I first read their height somewhere almost 3 years ago I was kind of shocked to be honest.
I kind of included the heels in my "calculation". Momoko was 159cm 2 years ago, when she was 16 but she looks the same height as or maybe 1cm taller than Su on stage. Given the fact that she probably grew at least a little bit (2 - 4cm or something), I'd say without shoes she's taller than Su. And how high are these heels? maybe 2 or 2.5cm? That's how I got to the 159cm. And before you ask, yes, I hate math :D

Excellent reaction! As mentioned, Herman Li & Sam Totman of 'DragonForce' wrote the guitar parts for this. Word is that it was written without concern for the high degree of speed or technicality because they thought it wouldn't be played live - silly DragonForce! BABYMETAL'S backing group, the KAMI Band (KAMI means god, spirit, or divine being, hence the traditional Japanese burial robes & corpse/ghost make-up they wear), excelled playing it live (as witnessed) & Li & Totman eventually DID play it live themselves, joining BABYMETAL onstage during at least one show. Soon you will be inundated with suggestions & knowledge by "THE ONE", which is the name BABYMETAL gave to their worldwide fanbase, possibly the most age, gender, ethnically & culturally diverse, & kindest in rock & metal.
Unlike most K-Pop, J-Pop, or other female 'Idol' groups, BABYMETAL uses no suggestive or sexual imagery, lyrics, or choreography in their music or performances. This is intentional. Also worth noting is their work ethic, which is beyond reproach.
In regard to future reactions, BABYMETAL is best viewed LIVE; however, the Official MV's of "KARATE" & "MEGITSUNE" are generally considered the exceptions to the rule. When you do check them out, it's more fun if you follow one of BABYMETAL'S core philosophies:
    "Don't think. FEEL."

Welcome to the Babymetal family! Great reaction! Fun fact, you said you were 5’2” that makes you an inch taller than the lead, Su-Metal lol. This video was recorded in 2015 at a concert with 20,000 people in attendance. There will be others who will comment I am sure with more info, so I leave that up to them. I do recommend if you continue your Babymetal journey that you react to live performances as much as possible as they are a band where their live show is very much a part of the overall package and their songs are generally thought of as better live.
If you like Su-Metal’s voice there are three videos on TH-cam that really highlight it. They are all from the same concert, Budokan Black Night. Rondo of Nightmare with Mischief of the Gods intro, Akatsuki, or Kimi to Anime ga Mitai (which a lot of people don’t react to but it’s an amazing song).

This song is the rallying cry for the beginning of the metal resistance. The girls said that this particular performance meant alot to them because of the audience response. They said regardless of the obstacles they come across, this performance reminds them there are thousands of supporters to help them through any hardships. Keep in mind at the time, these are still teenage girls, and are still very young despite them performing for over 5 years already. They are all vastly different offstage, and that's what makes them adorable. Their modesty and humbleness makes The One love them even more. If you want to see some of their other stuff while they were part of Babymetal's parent group-Sakura Gakuin, just search for it. I apologize if I'm repeating what someone else has already said.

I watched Road Of Resistance far into the double digits and this time again I got goosebumps all over.
Never gets bored seeing people reacting to Babymetal for the first time.
You will have had tons of requests and anyone will blow your mind, doesn't matter which one. (I would go for Pa Pa Ya, one of mine all time favorite song of theris.)
Now you have one foot in the door of Japanese Chick Rock; please check out Band-Maid. Start with Thrill, because that,s first video they made and it went viral. Also you can try "Play - live version" the more recent single "Blooming" or "Onset - Live 2018"
    Good luck!

They are all incredible performers; Su-metal's voice is something else. I have seen them quite a few times and she rarely misses a note. They are a force of nature.
Megitsune, Headbanger live, Pa Pa Ya, and BxMxC will give you an idea of the band. Everysong is different.

True. However, it's written as YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL, without the hyphen. The hyphen in SU-METAL, is to denote a long "u" sound. Otherwise, in Japanese, the "u" would be (almost) silent.

  • @ernestrimbeck7630

5'-2" that's how tall Su is

  • @silly_programme5061
    @silly_programme5061 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hooray, Babymetal! This was great.
Good news on the circle pit - Babymetal pits are the most polite and friendly mosh pits you'll find. In fact, they encourage that and refer to them as 'mosshushu', a gentler form of moshing. Babymetal welcomes people of all ages and sizes.
Speaking of which, as it happens, you're actually about the same size as the girls. They may seem like giants when they're up there on stage, but the lead singer and tallest member Su is actually only about 5'3" now, 5 years after this concert.
Yes, they are absolutely brimming with energy. One way they manage that at concerts is by having some songs where not all the girls perform so the others can catch a break. Su has some solos, while Moa and Yui have some songs without Su, referred to as Black Babymetal songs. If you want to check out any of those, the best ones on TH-cam would probably be Rondo of Nightmare live at Budokan (Su solo; look for the 7-minute version to see the band get some time in the limelight) and Onedari Daisakusen (Black Babymetal) also from Budokan - that whole concert is actually on TH-cam song by song.
Even above those recommendations though, my personal favorite is Headbanger live at the Legend 1997 concert in 2013 the day after Su's 16th birthday. It's simply fantastic!
Hope to see more from you. Cheers!

Subscribed to watch your journey down the Fox Hole (AKA the Babymetal universe) as I'm sure you'll be exploring further. I saw them live in Cardiff in Feb and they always shine brightest live so I'd recommend some of their live performances - though they have many superb MV's too. The performance you just watched was the first time they'd done it in Japan (the premier was at Wembley in 2016) so it says a lot about Su's excellent crowd control - and aged just 17! Try 'Headbanger Legend 97', which features all three girls and is epicAF th-cam.com/video/QEsOaMbNFww/w-d-xo.html or the best Metal song ever about playing Hide and Seek (with 4 solos from all the band members and English subs as well as stunning choreo) Catch Me If You Can th-cam.com/video/ng8U_j0gpLI/w-d-xo.html or Akatsuki, which is a fantastic display of Su's vocal power as it's one of her solos (and has a superb guitar duet in the middle) th-cam.com/video/g2372C5PJLM/w-d-xo.html , though you'll have to balance it out with one of Yui and Moa's duets, such as the heavyAF and cuteAF Sis Anger, the best Metal song ever about why boys can be a pain in the ass! th-cam.com/video/BZLZcoWZKN0/w-d-xo.html

Great reaction! This song often hits people very deeply in different ways. Many get chills or goosebumps, some people have even started crying. BABYMETAL is very good at getting emotion out of people. It's a great song because it is power metal, but the singing and emotion Su, Yui, and Moa give off in their singing and dancing makes it where you can feel the meaning of the song without understanding a single word of it (although a few are in English). As Su has said in the past, "Don't think. Feel!" when it comes to their music.
I have to agree with the people suggesting that the next two songs should be the music video for "Megitsune" (pronounced "May-git-soo-nay") and "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" Live at Legend 1997. All of those are older songs, so once you hit those up you should check out some newer ones. Before I suggest any, it should be noted that the best BABYMETAL is live BABYMETAL, but some music videos of theirs are just 100% worth it! That said, the music video for "BxMxC" is their newest (came out the beginning of October, although the song has been out for a year...more on that later), or go with "Pa Pa Ya" ft. F. Hero. It's the studio track over a live performance, but it's still good.
You could try the pro-shot live version of "BxMxC", but it might get blocked so be careful. I'd also say "Distortion" Live at Download 2018 is a good live one to check out.

just some info. Su was 17 years old at the time of the video. Babymetal was started to help girls get into metal and quite a few of their songs is for girls and female power. Su's voice is the reason Babymetal was thought about. even very young she had a loud voice and strong stage presence. there is a video of Su at 6 years old doing modeling and even then she comes out on stage and just has that control. the energy is what makes a Babymetal show the best. the band feeds off the crowd and the crowd feeds off the girls. there are many suggestions but i will tell you this. no two songs sound alike. Babymetal does so many different genre of metal and blends it with their own interpretation. on paper it shouldnt work but it does.

Thank you for that reaction. If you want to react to something nearly as inspirational, I recommend Ijime Dame Zettai from Sonisphere 2014, where they were supposed to play a small side-stage with around 5000 capacity. Just before starting their rehearsals on that stage, however, they found out that one of the headlining bands had canceled and Babymetal had to replace them on the main stage. IDZ was the last song in the set where they played in front of 55.000 metalheads who'd just found out that their favourite metal band, whom they'd paid money to see, had been replaced with a trio of teenage girls from japan. You can judge the result for yourself: th-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/w-d-xo.html

    Some advice about BABYMETAL reactions:
tl;dr: Don't use compilations for BABYMETAL, we have a better solution.
Please don't rely solely on videos that are on TH-cam (mainly compilations); they're not meant to be used for reactions as the mix of concerts and generally bad editing can make it confusing for those new to BABYMETAL. Also, you won't get the full BABYMETAL experience with these. Some people think they are safer for reactions, but they're not. They may get past the bot initially, but you still stand the chance of your video being blocked later and the possibility of having copyright strikes.
Some fans made a selection of "best" performances for each song; I would suggest using it for future BABYMETAL reactions. Here is the link : docs.google.com/document/d/1DqPsavocgGvCyZfUHvrkgJ5KZMaMkmMgjy2UxNNG96E/edit#
You should note though, that your video will almost definitely be blocked if these are included in your video and that you will need to do what we call "link & sync". It's very easy and made easier with the help of Reactor Hub, a tool made for helping avoid blocks etc. We made a short tutorial on how to use it : drive.google.com/open?id=1X6hN2BdyKzFmVN9XMEo2M89hsKY0B-bnnHRVVMNY13w
Using that you are safe from blocked videos and even future copyright strikes, since no copyright material is included in your video :).
There is even a discord for Reactor Hub if you need any help discord.gg/cPrSypT.
I'm hoping you will have fun with BABYMETAL in future reactions :).
