- Here's a quick Tech Talk about our Datsun 240 Z electric conversion. Stay tuned for the final conversion video and follow us for more Tech Talks. Any questions post in the comments below.
Thanks for watching!!
Thanks for the tour.
The "Tesla Model S brake booster" is a Bosch iBooster, presumably salvaged from a wrecked Model S. This is also used by various other manufacturers, such as Honda. There is no mention of steering assist (or I missed it), so I assumed that it was manual (using an original manual Z rack), but the video from the "Late Brake Show"' says that it has electric assist column unit from a Vauxhall Corsa.
This is so cool! by far the best electric Z I've seen!
I think this is a great build.
I can see that lots of thought and hard work has gone into making this a great conversion! Love the Tech Talk format too, great video, keep up the good work Jack.
It's content and hard work like this that will help me learn to love EV.
G player in the game right there! Seriously the dopest whip I've ever seen 😊
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS! I dig seeing so many different builds and ideas and this is coming from someone with an L28ET.
So clean! Incredible build …. Love the colour too!
What is the name of the color?
I love this build!
I love thr fact the front battery box inside looks a bit like the rb25
Great video. Looking forward to a closer look at some of the conversion work.
I wonder if an RB26 cam cover would fit on top of that engine bay "straight 6" looking battery pack...
Very interesting build, surprised how much was left stock on the rear-end. Even though its not quite done do you have an idea on the power to weight ratio?
I want one BAD!!! Wish I could afford it. /;
What controller do you use for the GS450h motors? toyota inverter and controller?
This has nothing to do with the car of the conversion, but the lift (as seen at 2:06) is an usual single-post design. I've never seen that for lifting a whole car before; usually single-post lifts are used in pairs (to lift a car from both sides), or with one at each wheel (to lift heavy vehicles).
After a quick search, this appears to be from Automotech, and may even be a mobile (not fastened down, can be moved on rollers) model. That's slick, although the floor under is it is not clear (because of the large foot extending under the car) when the car is lifted - that would get in the way in many cases.
Hi nice 240z so is it for sale
What a beautiful conversion. I have an ‘84 Porsche 928S that I would love to do similar conversion on. I’d be interested to know what the approximate cost of this conversion was.
That would be cool! Send us an email at Info@silentclassics.co.uk 😁
"NOT FINISHED YET" Got to ask, if I wanted the same done to my 240z, what would all this cost? Parts, labor, out the door, full payment price? Also estimated time for all this? Thanks
Hi best to send an email to info@silentclassics.co.uk. The conversion would be plus £50k.
amazing work you guys do........one suggestion turn off the background music when speaking, its annoying.............please
noted!
Whats the range expectancy, and charge time? Id love to do this to my 510...
Hi About 130 miles. Its lightweight battery pack. 0-60 3.8 seconds!
@@silentclassics1745That is fantastic! I'd love to do something similar to my 1982 Fiat Spider, although I'd be fine with slower acceleration.
I hate to see classic sports cars loose their heart and soul, this would have been a prime RB swap candidate, but this is a pretty clean build since I imagine the original engine was kaput. I wouldn't mind doing something like this to a lead sled or land yacht where the engine was pretty quiet and unremarkable in the first place, and they could "come alive" with the extra low end torque of an EV setup, plus there's plenty of space for batteries in the transmission tunnel and between the frame rails!
You hate to see a classic lose its heart and soul…
Yet in the next sentence you talk about swapping in an engine that doesn’t belong in this classic.
I’m a bit confused. Your issue it what the motor runs on? If the EV motor ram on gas, would you care?
@@89five3five Yeah, I had the exact same thought.
For a "tech tour" there is a lot of looking at Jack, and not so much looking at the technology. We don't even see the rear battery box.
How much did this conversion cost?
