Join me on Trail of the Cedars in Glacier National Park. There's a little bit of info and a lot of great scenery. While walking the trail we discover Avalanche Lake Trail and decide to hike up to Avalanche Lake. We encounter some wild life and more beautiful scenery on the way. This video ends at Avalanche Lake with stunning views.

Nice video...must have hiked it early in the day to miss the hordes of people. This is the "if you only hike one trail" trail hike in Glacier, even if you dislike crowds. I had the amazing fortune to once have the trail to myself on a beautiful summer afternoon. I was walking the Trail of the Cedars, knowing that the Avalanche Trail had been closed for days because of bear activity. As I walked past the Avalanche trailhead, I saw a ranger take the rope down and say the trail was open. I saw over 100 people on the way back...I said "hey - other illegal hikers!" to the first couple just to get a laugh.

We did this a few years ago. We had to park 1/2 mile from parking lot along the road. It was crowded. I loved this hike with the lake and waterfalls.

Hey Chris, I was just there back in August and you are 'dead on' with your assessment and review of those trails and I definitely agree with you on what to bring with you and what to expect throughout the "hike". The only thing, if I may make a suggestion to you, is maybe shooting your future adventures in 4K/HD to really capture the amazing views and landscapes along the way. Either way, great video and great music, Chris!

Thank you for commenting. I am glad to know that my review of the trails was accurate (I am trying to create honest videos). I appreciate your suggestion and it is my goal to upload at least twice a month and make all future videos 4k. Happy travels!

3:31 that spot is perfectly clear this time of year. although the trail is very slick with ice, so be careful if you check it out

Definitely going to check out this spot in the winter during a ski trip. I will be sure to pack snow shoes or Yaktrax for my hiking boots. Thank you for the info and for the comment!

Great video! Random question but what is the song in the background? You’re asking me if I ever dream; yes I do and I’ll tell you why cuz I’m so free! Great song but cannot find who sings it

The song is called, Free. It was written and recorded by Sonny Truelove who is an Australian born musician and producer. This is a demo recording with his band (at the time), The Closer (2009). Sonny Truelove is currently owner of STL Tones and has been producing/recording out of Nashville and Sydney. My Channel will be relaunching soon under a new name, Morning Runner. I will upload this song for you guys as a single in next short vid/channel trailer.

@@goodmorningrunner Did you hike to Iceberg lake ? It is amazing ! We also hiked to Granite Park Chalet and spent the night. I was 66 years old at the time and it was a bucket list hike. Glacier NP is a hikers paradise !

I think it’s important to note that there are lots of steep inclines and declines on the Avalanche lake trail. Also, lots of rocks and roots on the trail. This is more of a moderate hike unlike the Trail of Cedars. Especially for those with mobility issues. Avalanche Lake is totally worth it. Just a forewarning, it is especially difficult when it is raining.

Excellent info, I totally agree with your description. Avalanche Trail does have exposed roots, inclines & declines. Cheers!
