Dharmesh is likely my favorite guest you guys have had on. The business sense he has developed is astounding.
Next time you have him on I would love to see more of his thought process on how he would develop different types of businesses in various fields. Maybe you could poll the audience and get 3 different businesses that people currently run and ask him what steps he would take to 10x the business.
You all are amazing, appreciate all you do to make such a great podcast!

Thanks for the kind words. I think you overestimate my ability to provide thoughtful advice on businesses outside my sphere of expertise (which is actually quite small).

In the video "How To Come Up With Billion Dollar Business Ideas", Hubspot co-founder Dharmesh Shah shares his insights on how to generate billion-dollar business ideas. He starts by emphasizing the importance of focusing on solving customer problems rather than just pursuing profits. He also suggests that entrepreneurs should think big and not limit themselves to incremental improvements.
Shah recommends that entrepreneurs should create a list of potential problems and try to come up with solutions for them. He also advises using existing products and services as inspiration for new ideas and to find opportunities in areas that have been overlooked.
Another important takeaway from the video is the importance of building a strong team. Shah explains that having a diverse team with different skill sets and perspectives can help generate innovative ideas.
For middle-class earners, the main takeaway is that anyone can come up with a billion-dollar idea if they focus on solving real problems, think big, and surround themselves with a talented team. The key is to stay curious and keep exploring potential opportunities.

Dharmesh is so down to earth. Learnt a lot from him in this podcast. And Sam, please given you are inviting a guest to your podcast you ought to pronounce his name properly. If you cannot do it, at least let him know. I mean seriously, what's the name worth if you cannot pronounce it correctly. Then you can also call him whatever random name you can come up with.

The economy actually matters a lot because of thr VCs are adjusting their mental models as you mentioned. Even clients in a SaaS case may not be interested to buy new software either.

If you want to be a millionaire or billionaire, why go behind motivation and listen to others' success stories that won't help you? If you're already on the way to being a millionaire, these things should look like wasting time.

He doesn't actually speak about "HOW to come up with a billion dollar idea" but at least he got to pitch his website and game! That's always what these interviews are about... that is, self serving business promotional stuff.
Same is the case for all of Y Combinator's videos like "How to create an uber start up with Travis talking about himself and how great he is and how great uber is and zero about how to create an uber like start up. Same BS here.

Renting makes no sense in England. Property ownership is the only way. This american perspective of renting makes no sense to us.
