Took a similar set up to my last trip to The KT on 2016 and I plain ole hate it , my wife got me a Cannondale 29er very nice bike but not my choice for a touring bike. I don't have sag wagon so did a lot suffering with the seat, all the weight in the back, etc. Now Im planning a trip next fall and gonna take my old trusty touring bike. Thank you for sharing your journey.
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing. Now I have to watch the whole series! Quick question...I have a Trek Marlin 7 with wider tires and a gravel bike with 40cc tires.Which would you ride on the Katy?
If you are not expecting rain then the 40s would be fine. If there is a possibility some of the trail can get pretty soft in areas. I prefer wider tire on gravel anyway. I also have a Hybrid with 40s and use it on blacktop and concrete. Glad you enjoyed the Video! I think I'm going to go back to the Katy in November and do a section.
@@mooreoutdoor9841 I’d prefer to go any other time, as well. However, one of they guys that I ride with a lot has a son that runs Cross Country at the high school where I teach. The CC team is planning a trip to SW MO for a running camp, next July. We were thinking about being able to help transport kids out there, and then ride the trail in the 5 days that they are at camp, then help transport kids home. 😎
No judgement here, only curiosity…is there a reason why you don’t wear a helmet? So many people have viewed your adventure that I feel this is not being responsible .
If I were on single track or around cars, I do but on a safe place like the Katy trail it doesn't seem necessary. My wife was pretty adamant about wearing a helmet and nearly had a heat stroke while riding on a greenway one Summer. I have yet to find a helmet that didn't overheat you.

My group starts on Tuesday (4/25) thanks for the video.
Have a Great Ride!
Nice video.
Seems to be a interesting ride on the Katy-Trail. Nice video. Maybe I'll do it next year. Best wishes from Germany
Very Good! You will Love it!
LOL! Nice to see someone else start at the gate on Sedalia Street.
Nice trail, wish one day to be there 😀
I am looking forward to doing it again myself one day. You will really enjoy it.
I'm new to this, and new to what trails are there in US, so let's see, looking forward to it :)
Katy Trail is something what I want to ride in near future 🙂👍
Fall would be a great time to do it. It was still a bit hot the 1st week of September.
@@mooreoutdoor9841 Is there are campgrounds or camping spots? I would probably mix it up with camping and motels if there are any.
@@FollowThomas Yeah, there are several places to camp along the way. If you check out bikekatytrail.com it will help tons with planning.
@@mooreoutdoor9841 thanks 👍
I Subscribed to your channel. I see you have lots of Outdoor videos as well. Awesome!

@@mooreoutdoor9841 Thanks! If we go, it’ll be in the summer.
@@mountainsnmoore256 September was nice. Not too hot. Not too cold. I'm not a fan of the summer. My backpacking season goes from October to April.

If you didn’t ring the bell 🛎️ you haven’t started the Katy trail! Give back lol
I didn't see one in Clinton, but I did ring it at the end

My brother and I did the Katy the week before ya.
I am looking forward to doing it again someday.
