  • Two back to back videos giving two different results with cold temperature operations. Showcasing the ease of starting in cold temperatures with the Deutz Fahr tractors. Also an honest explanation of what/why North Americans have to struggle with DEF unlike the rest of the world. No machine is perfect but I like our clientele to be aware and not taken by surprise. #pfgamerica #deutzfahr #deutzfahmer #sdf #epabullshit

    I'm strongly leaning towards Deutz-Fahr on our next utility tractor. Love the features and how they run and the 5G series has a great price compared to other brands.

      Just this past week new prices dropped and of course we are still $25k less than comparably equipped Deere. A huge value packed into the 5110G Standard.

      @@tractorben looking for a utility this year, if we like it we'll probably consider larger models also in the future. My closest dealer is about an hour and a half away, but our Deere dealer might as well not be here, our agco dealer is pretty good, but always open to options if we can save a lot and have reliable tractors. Only 2 older Deeres left here. Have 2 newer agco tractors that have been good, but I would like to try the Deutz-Fahr.

    we got about 350 hours on our 5110G now, good machine does everything we ask of it, plenty of power, only complaint is fuel tank is to small and we are on our 3rd PTO sensor at $350 some dollars a piece. That is a bad design not very happy with them going out every 100-150 hours and once it goes out your PTO is dead in the water.

    • @tractorben
      @tractorben  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      After you got the warnings and ran below 10% then 5%, it will remain in derate until a certified technician comes out to hookup and clear the codes. There is not another way to get back to normal. Don’t run below 25%. Once you start getting that low level earnings it’s time to stop and refill.

    What model would you recommend to run a 10'-15' brush hog? Very tall and thick vegetation. With very steep hills. I had a massey ferguson 5711 that couldn't handel it to my liking.

    • @tractorben
      @tractorben  ปีที่แล้ว

      That 5711 is 105 engine HP. If you are staying in the 5 series frame size, the 5120’s are on closeout sale this month. That’s 116 engine/110PTO. The upcoming 6135C would be a stouter machine with a better ride and much more substantial hydraulic system. If you want something now, we have a few 6140TTV’s left in country as they just finished a closeout sale end of June.

      The 5G and 6 Series tractors, 106-136hp 4 cylinder tractors don’t Regenerate at all. It’s uses DEF with an SCR like your 4710. Not sure how much longer that will be the case. Stage 5 Emissions are going into effect soon. Europe is requiring Stage 5 sooner than we are, however manufacturers are only going to make 2 versions of new tractors. Stage 5 (for Europe, USA, Canada) and non EPA for the rest of the world. If you don’t mind me asking, what kind of farming do you do?

    What happens if the def tank doesn't get heated up at all? Volvo H series payloaders for example has set a time limit for around 70 minutes for the def system to get warm enough to begin working. At 25-30 Celsius below it remains frozen of course which simply leads to engine fault, power reduced to a minimum and you need to get workshop to unlock the fault code. Absolutely rubbish system by Volvo.

    • @tractorben
      @tractorben  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The DEF heats using Engine Coolant circulating through coils on the DEF Header. If the tractor is running it can’t help but heat. After the release of the software that came in May 2021 to us here in the USA there is a time delay now before it samples. So far that has resolved those associated issues and we’ve been cold this winter.

    To correct you, in Europe now also heated tanks in big rigs. In general, US/CAN farmers has far (and I mean far) less rules on environment, amount of nitrogen, how much land you must own per animal, and when and how you can drive manure on your fields...
    Welfare of the animals when transported is regulated, (always a clean and disinfected trailer when you go to a different field even on your own farm!).
    Even how we store our fertilizers and harvest is strictly regulated. Why do you think so many farmer flee from Europe to US/CAN??
    So, you complaining about taking people's money for environmental responsibility... You're crying over nothing.
    And in Europe we see the impact of climate change big time, just as the US/CAN with more forest fires, floodings... So, I think we must change the way we (mis)use our fields. Biologist students have done research on my fields for graduation projects and promotions on their study: they found out:
    After 7-8 years of using a field: it's depleted and it makes more sense to leave it alone for 1 year, so fungus on old roots can die and the field is fresh again. This we result on more harvest on the next 7 years of use. Also: no fertilizers has a big impact on health on the soil, ground water (the water the crops drink) is cleaner, resulting in long term more harvest, when I put wild flowers on the edge of a field, natural bugs and insects will balance out the "bad" insects and dangers when not fertilizing.
    After about 15 years of 50% biological and more room for nature like forest on my land, some wild flowers beds, no more fertilizers and 50% intensive "normal" farming... I'm now in 3rd year of 100% no fertilizers and working with nature. I see butter flies, ladybugs, dragonflies, bees, deer, falcons, eagles, and much more returning to my land. My neighbors are stunned by it: I have more harvest, with less land because I offered some to a wild flower beds and a pond.

      No correction needed. European’s have dealt with much more strenuous regulations for decades. I have zero problem with being responsible and changing the practices farmers use to feed and cloth the world. However it’s not an empty complaint. The level emissions standards have came to with the Diesel engine are ridiculous, and result in a much less reliable product in relation to after treatment systems. And you obviously haven’t watched much of my channel as I own a dealership for APV. We specialize in cover crops, and associated practices. I am not onboard with people being lazy and relying on traditional chemical fertilizers, and loads of chemicals when that is also antiquated and shouldn’t be allowed. Cover Crops and rotations are the only way to sustainability in the long term. A big thing to remember is that the “Elites” plane for pleasure and travel will emit more Nox emissions in one trip than an entire fleet of diesel tractors will over the course of many years. This whole problem is much bigger. These same people make the rules but don’t make any that impact their convenience so on the level of emissions is BULLSHIT!
