    I must own this! Having a knife like that just looks like it plants a deep seeded need in you to chop something down. Dang, that thing is awesome. Oh, a minor caveat, it's "A snowball's chance in Hell" my good sir, please do carry on.

    Carbon and straight grind means easy to sharpen on a rock if needed. Good Call. I have some small CRKT products and think they have a tremendous value. Not so over priced as many of the other makers.

    Great first look Sootch! Thanks for giving this thing a nice break-in for us!
    You mentioned a couple of times that it was flat ground however it's actually a shallow saber grind. No biggie :)

    Good vid Sootch, and two thumbs up for Ken Onion!
    I have the Kershaw Outcast he designed in 3/16' thick D2, it's a hell of a chopper.
    That Chanceinhell looks fantastic.

    That thin blade seems a bit light for wood/tree chopping. Probably good for small branches and vegitation. Love my camp10 for hacking small woods. Sweet review sootch...u havent done many blade revs lately, good to see

    Sootch, a regular machete like the Gerber or Cold Steel will do the same things. Actually, almost any hunk of steel with an edge will clear brush. Love all your vids and appreciate all the hard work you put into them.

    First off it cracks me up people flame "nice paid endorsement " ..have you never watched this channel before? If sootch says its good..its good. Sootch is a phenomenal real man's prepper, pay attention you might learn something..
    Now this review is outstanding, I was impressed with the size verse cutting power this blade was able to produce. Packing light with tools able to do multiple roles huge plus. Heavy blades or even a large ax would provide greater power to clear with but at far greater pack weight. Thanks sootch I have been looking for a good replacement for the hatchet in my pack,you just sold on this one.

    Nice review and very funny. Hard for me to choose between that and the Kershaw Camp 10 or the Condor Pack Golok. I want a light copper and thee tools are in my opion a better buy than a large knife. Any thoughts?

    Put the lanyard in a forward hole, adjusting length so that you can just get a full hand grip and swing but no more. This will prevent the blade from ever getting away from you, period. Try it! :)

    Big Knives ROCK! Did the lack of blade weight not hinder the heavy chopping jobs?

    • @sootch00
      @sootch00  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's definitely not a Wood chopper but better for clearing smaller trees and limbs. It was still giving it a run for the money.

    That ringing sound is interesting. I don't recall hearing that on other knife tests.

    • @TheSeigeLion
      @TheSeigeLion 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're refering to the ringing sound whenever the knife hits anything it's just the blade vibrating slightly, it's completely normal with thinner blades and isn't any kind of fault, and I've never heard of it wearing a blade out beyond normal use.

    • @f22shift
      @f22shift 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      squee116 it's good way to tell it's a machete. They ring. This knife design is for the jungle not the woods. Seems awkward. M

    Hay, question. Is carbon steel rust resistant? I am almost always in situations where I have to MAKE SURE that the morning due doesn't rust all 4 of my blades. Thank god for stainless steel, but is carbon steel better than that?

    • @michaelt3172
      @michaelt3172 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Carbon steel can rust so you should get some wax for your machetes. Upsides it's a lot stronger than stainless steel.

    • @joshvswild949
      @joshvswild949 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      carbon steel rusts but the powder coating on this knife should kelp prevent that.

    One tool compromise. Hatchet, small saw (Corona or Silky) and thinner machete (if your cutting flexible small vines you need speed) will do all this, and a whole lot more with less work.This tool is great if you need the "macho" look, and only want to carry one tool.

    • @MrShopjunky
      @MrShopjunky 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It is designed to be a day packer/hiking/trail and camp knife. The idea was to design a machete that wouldn't weigh you down but would conquer all your general needs and be compact enough to lash to your pack or wear on your hip and not be in the way. Fits great on a 4wheeler,quad,snow machine ,dirt bike or just to keep in your vehicle in case you need it.
