Johny, The Urantia Book has been a wonderful spiritual resource for me since it found me over 40 years ago. Some of the science is dated, but the spiritual concepts are the best I've ever seen. There are quite a number of Facebook groups that discuss the various aspects of the book, such as philosophy, art, writing, spiritual ideas, etc. I liked the book because it shows the importance and relationship of both science and religion. I am one of the admins for the Facebook group, Urantia Book Science. I hope you'll look into the book to see if it is something that appeals to you. Dick
The Urantia Book does mention what appear to be black holes in paper 15: "The Dark Islands of Space. These are the dead suns and other large aggregations of matter devoid of light and heat. The dark islands are sometimes enormous in mass and exert a powerful influence in universe equilibrium and energy manipulation. The density of some of these large masses is well-nigh unbelievable."
thankyou very much for the information! i have been listening to the recorder version and even though i need to read it again and again! the teachings have a great story to tell but its only through your own experiences which become spiritual experiences how deep the teachings go! i have had contact with starships(lightbeings) since i took my birth right back and my sovereignty! they have been helping me remember who i really am and why i am here!so i just wanted to say the teachings are true
Thanks for the kind words. As you can see from comments, not everyone is pleased with it. We all see things differently and I suppose life would be boring if we did all think alike.
Callie, you can listen to an audio version of the Urantia Book online at UrantiaBook.org. You can also order a DVD from their store with the entire book in mp3 format on a DVD. No use me spending several years recording the book when it has already been done. dB
Well catfish, different strokes for different folks. People don't need to read the Urantia Book to progress spiritually; they only need to go within where God's spirit dwells and follow its guidance. The major contribution of the Urantia Book may be providing a more positive view of humanity than Christianity does and giving an insightful picture of Jesus' life and teachings.
Unfortunately, one item in the video needs to be updated: The latest results from astronomers indicates that the Milky Way galaxy has not two, but four major arms with our planet apparently in a smaller side arm of one of the major arms.
Great question! Light speed (186,000 miles/sec.) as expressed by us would obviously be a much larger number when converted to the Havona second. The speed would be much greater, but the distance traveled would be the same. So I guess my answer is that the distance doesn't change but the time units used to measure the distance affect its apparent magnitude. I looked for some reference in the UBk, but couldn't find it expressed explicitly this way. Dick Bain
As I watch this video, I see where the confusion comes. We must remember that the Central Universe is not in the same realm as we are. Therefor any attempt to show a flet plane relationship is in error.
Excellent work on the video. I'm on my second reading of the Urantia Book. One thought I had as you were presenting this video was the impact of how time appears to move differently within different universe level, to the point where it is non-existent on the Central Isle of Paradise. Could a light year be a different distance to the beings who presented the Urantia Papers...I have no idea, but just through the idea out for discussion.
According to the authors, the worlds of Havona are in time and space but we are separated from the Central Universe by the circuits of the dark gravity bodies. Paradise is not in time and space however.
I'm really only reporting how the cosmology of the Urantia Book compares to current science/astronomy. The authors say that the science of the book will be outdated as our human science progresses. And that's true.
+Ralph Morgan Yep, it could be the book that changes the world, especially the new vision of Jesus' life and teachings. The UBk has been a great spiritual resource for me for 49 years.
I love this book... Some of the comments show the different stages of intellegence levels just on this sight. If man really went to the moon, why havent they been back?
Thanks for the great video. I want to make some observations: 1. Revelators say Andromeda doesn't belong to Orvonton, but belongs to the first level of outer space (p. 170). 2. Red shift and Hubble Law only works in Orvonton; so the maps of astronomy may be deformed if this thechnique is used outside the Milky Way. 3. Orvonton has 10^13 stars (p. 172), that is 25 to 100 times the number of stars suspected by astronomers (ususally 10^11 to 4x10^11). Historicaly that number has had big changes and the far side of the galaxy is more dense than our side acording to the UB, yet: 4. Probably you don't need that much stars, since Orvonton is the last superuniverse and it is still growing, while the numbers in the UB refers to the final stages planed for each level. If Michael of Nebadon is the 611121 Michael and our local universe is one of the youngest, then He may be as lttle as the number 11121 Michael in Orvonton, or asuming an equal rate of growing in each superuniverse (UB says it is not the case), as big as the number 611121/7=87303 MIchael in Orvonton. So Orvonton is roughly 11%-87% completed since will be 100000 Michaels in each superuniverse. (I think is less than 76%, acording to the grand-universal number of Urantia, p182) 5. The Virgo local superclusterof may be on a plane acording to astronomers, but I haven't had the time to go deep into this. If true, the Great Universe could be related to that supercluster. Also it would be of interest to search about (again, I didn't) the Dark Flow (¿Absolute Gravity?) and the Great Atractor (¿Havona or Paradise Island?). !Greetings from Colombia and excuse my english! Andrés Ramírez
The UBk does not say that Andromeda is in the first outer space level, what it says is, "Andromeda, which is outside the inhabited superuniverse, is very active." It could be part of our superuniverse, but not yet inhabited."
Agreed, isb. The authors seem to say in one place that the Milky Way galaxy is Orvonton, but then they give information in another place that conflicts with this. I have an article (A Tale of Two Orvontons) on the subject on the Square Circles website. TH-cam won't let me insert a link. Maybe one picture was for the 1930's and the other picture(s) were for a later century. We have discussed this a lot on Facebook in the Urantia Book Science group.
Well, with 700 planets confirmed around stars in our neighborhood, and thousands more waiting to be confirmed, there are sure to be some planets friendly to life, though maybe not suited to us. It'll be exciting to find planets that are like our earth. What would be even more exciting would be to intercept a radio signal from mortals on some other planet. Shades of Contact!
Can you explain something to me because it seems to me there is a confusion out there you have the Urantia book explains the universe and everything else and there's another one a Multiverse Theory where there are innumerable University exist so which one is plus Now The Vedas also backing up the Multiverse Theory.
A good question, Peter. The Urantia Book says that time and space are eternal, but that the material things like galaxies came from energy sent from Paradise and that more matter is appearing all the time. The Big Bang theory says that all matter and energy appeared at the time of the Big Bang, and there is no Creator. Physicists have determined that there are a number of physical constants that had to have just the right value or we wouldn't exist. So some people said that God must have made those constants exactly right so life could exist. But some physicists didn't like this, so they invented the multi-universe hypothesis. They said that if there were nearly an infinite number of universes, and each had slightly different physical constants, then one of them would be just right for life. And they said, we just happen to live in the universe with just the right value for those constants. Google the Anthropic Principle for more details.
These physicists who propose the multiverse "theory", will do or say anything,it seems, to avoid the confirmation of a Creator! That's not science, that's bias and pretense, designed to perpetuate an overweening, self-aggrandizing, close minded ideology that serves an agenda some scientists wish to maintain.
9rgbyroy, Thanks for your honest reply. I'm sure the agnostics at the UU church I attend would agree with you. The Urantia Book claims to have extra-human sources. There is no proof of this; a person needs to read the book and decide if it rings their truth chimes. But if you go with the Big Bang theory, the universe isn't infinite; the astronomers say that the universe is 13.8 billion years old and about 40 billion light years in radius now. No one knows what lies beyond if anything.
if you read the book. you would understand that they said the nature of the universe is in 7 not ten. they clearly specify in the book that ten units and so on are pertinent to the decimal worlds. look in the urantia index for: decimal worlds and the value of the number 7. you should read the whole book before you say nonsense
You know how many Urantians it takes to screw in a lightbulb? I'm not exactly sure about that... but if you can contact one of the Ancient of Days and he can contact one of the Lords of one of the super universes, they might be able to ask What's-His-Name and he could tell us ... except his message might take a zillion years or so... to get back to us. Ah, never mind. However, I do know how many Zen Masters it takes to screw in a lightbulb. Two. One to screw it in and one to not screw it in. Like the Dali Lama said to the hotdog vender in New York: "Could you make me one with everything?"
I am confused. As big as the Central Universe is,and if it does not exist in another realm, why does a search of the evolutionary universe not reveal it's location. We can see a 360 degree circle, and there is no blocking of the stars. Would like to discuss this further.
14:1.14 (153.5) On the outskirts of this vast central universe, far out beyond the seventh belt of Havona worlds, there swirl an unbelievable number of enormous dark gravity bodies. These multitudinous dark masses are quite unlike other space bodies in many particulars; even in form they are very different. These dark gravity bodies neither reflect nor absorb light; they are nonreactive to physical-energy light, and they so completely encircle and enshroud Havona as to hide it from the view of even near-by inhabited universes of time and space.
still predicated on our primitive version of gravity.urantia book never refers to black holes and contrived anomalies by the pathological obsession to hold on to present physical models.i do not believe God would insult logic but the game may be much larger than we want to believe.the very premise is most likely outside the forest.
Yes, I have ten if you'll allow me to count my navel as one. 100 million hairs? Maybe 20 years ago, but now maybe only 20 million. : ) Anyhow, the value of the Urantia Book isn't in its numbers; its in the spiritual insights it contains.
The book is so far off on it's science level it must be dismissed..it is the state of art in the 1930s when it was written..it also says dinosaurs were still around 30 million years ago and lived beside man..wrong
In the section about the limitations of revelation, the authors do state that the science of the UB will have to be updated as our science progresses. But there are a few concepts that were not discovered until after the book was published. One such concept is the collapse of a supernova due to the outflux of neutrinos.
Hogwash! Why would a deity need any kind of text to get it's point across? Much less one written by men. Just another form of new age BS for people who'll believe anything in writing.
The Urantia Book has been a source of spiritual inspiration for me for over 40 years.
Never heard of the book until just now but this video made me not instantly brush it off.
