Absolutely! Impromptu speaking is such a useful skill. I remember feeling nervous at last-minute speaking moments, but a few techniques changed everything. Knowing the PREP method-point, reason, example, point again-made it easier to stay clear and on track.
I’ve also found that practicing casual interactions, like with customer service or at a grocery store, helps build that confidence. Programs like Toastmasters and the Sense of Humor Improvement Program by Habit10x bring these skills full circle by adding a fun element to speaking practice. Just remember, with time, anyone can master this!

Watching this video was a well-spent 4 minutes. Thank you. After reviewing this video I was reminded of the material which is available in the Better Speaker Series manuals and wondered why "Johnny" didn't incorporate a few of the tips found in the manual on speaking impromptu. Rediscovering the TOASTMASTERS TH-cam Channel and seeing that we now have 80 videos posted is a treat. Wow, this is well timed with the roll-out of the revised educational program and use by training masters/ambassadors.

Informative speeches like these are better well rehearsed, if it was impromptu, we would likely not get as much and learn as much, if it was impromptu.

@@cscholar I've taken classes on how to deliver speeches in University, and this is true. You can do impromptu speaking with a certain capacity, but everyone should be prepared and not "wing it". This is solid advice. And yes, this is just an informative video.

He said the techniques can be applied to everyday social situations (which is the reason I'm considering joining) but everything he said related to making speeches. I doubt you'd use PREP at the grocery store.

Thanks it's a very useful presentation but I have some comments:
    - Your tone of voice is the same that makes me get bored quickly.
    - Using your hand gestures would be better if you used 'em more and more.
    - Try to interactive while speaking. It'd be much better.
Finally, I want to thank you for this great effort and I hope to learn more from you

I thought it went without saying but clearly not everyone gets it, so let me dumb it down a bit. Informative speeches or presentations such as this one obviously need to be prepared in advance. If they weren't listeners wouldn't get as much out of them.

There is almost no use of impromptu speeches in a business setting, if you are ever told to give one, find a new job because that one is very unorganized if it cant get something that basic correct.
