Public decency is gone. You don't even need to have someone filming a TikTok. There's people all over at doctor's offices, restaurants, gyms, airports, etc. blasting their phone at full volumes and having what are sometimes *EXTREMELY* private conversations that should stay very private.

Plus you have the issue of transportation, which further increases the cost of living. And then there's the job issue. Rural areas don't always have a lot of opportunity.

A lot of people these days do jobs that can only be found in cities. Personally, I think the solution to that is to make your own business so you can go wherever the hell you want, but a lot of people don't have what it takes to run their own business, hence why so many of them fail in the early stages. Then, there's the matter of history. This isn't so much a thing for Americans, but it's very common in Europe. I recently watched a documentary about a Serbian family who lived in the same apartment since 1912. Obviously, that wasn't what was remarkable about the family, but remember that they stayed not only in the same city, but the same apartment in Belgrade through 2 world wars, 50 years of socialism, Milosevic's wars, and the NATO bombing, and they are still there. Tons of European families have similar stories. When your family is so deeply ingrained with a certain area, I can understand refusing to leave
I guess the city is just more comfortable for many: you have everything you need close by. Still, basic decency in public is really dead, no respect for others anymore. At the very least the influencer plague is fueled by a sub section of narcissism that is generally labeled as Exhibitionist Narcissism. There are a few other types of Narcissism that this behaviour fits into. A compelling argument could be made for it being a type of Community Narcissism. I don't dispute your assertion that most of the underlying causes can be traced back to parents/parenting and also broken homes. This is a well accepted truth for most of the types of Narcissistic Behaviours evidenced today. That is not to say that some people do not just exhibit the hallmarks and behaviours without a root cause. Some people are just messed up from birth unfortunately. If you do indeed do a search, enjoy going down the rabbit hole of one of the most dangerous types of mental maladies present today. It's shocking the level of disregard for other people that those with Narcissism and Narcissistic Tendencies have.
I went on a pilgrimage to India and Nepal. I noticed at the sacred religious sites they have to put out signs saying "No music video shoots!" and implemented a no selfie sticks & tripods policy. All because of narcissist disrespectful influencers.
I confess I am a scrooge. I hate all this kind of content. I hate influencers. Maybe it comes from growing up in a rural area with a lot of Germans, who abhorred any kind of showing off or making an exhibition of yourself. Even us kooky theater kids practiced our weirdness in a way that was kinda of self-effacing and low key. And we didn't mess up the lives of ordinary people for our own benefit.

I went to Japan last year. There I genuinely met some of the kindest, friendliest people and they were incredibly polite. The majority of people there kept to themselves and were very respectful, which makes these influencers acting out for attention that much worse. If you visit another country, you respect that Country's norms and standards.
I wish everyone around the world adopted this level of etiquette. I shouldn't be able to paint a clear picture of someone by their loud conversations and their appearance.

I live in Tokyo, and I absolutely hate the fact that this city is now trampled with tourists filming and recording EVERYTHING..I even saw a group of people doing that in my neighbourhood whuch is just an ordinary neighbourhood, not a tourist attraction at all !! And just recently, I saw 3 guys ( two blacks, 1 white) dancing and recording while crossing a VERY busy street and suddenly, one of them dropped and laid down on the street..causing one elderly lady to tripped over him and fell down face first. And those guys just laughed and ran away. Sigh.

I think the first step should be stopping and refusing to label and call these people "influencers" or "main role character" or whatever other idiotic term we are calling them, and start calling them "public nuisance pests", "sociopathic narcissist", and "rude, immature attention seeking clowns". Change the language, change the behavior, or however that term goes. Second step is resisting to watch the content and blocking immediately.
I WISH I was the main character in my own story! I think I was for about 4 years in my late teens/early 20s but since my 30s I seem to only cameo every couple of episodes. Sometimes I may get an "also starring" credit, I think! I definitely don't get any streaming rights or residuals!

This is indeed a narcissism problem. The fact that these people see themselves as entitled to inconvinence others for clout is disappointing and shows our cultural decline. If one wants to document their life, a great time-tested means is a journal. This is not only private and safe for one's genuine thoughts, but it creates a primary source about your life that may prove useful in the future.

In general people tend to lean more towards affectation when on film, vs a sense of honesty with oneself when expressing only thoughts as you do in written form. That said, there's no rule that limits a journal to writing. A person can keep a video journal. I think then the real problem though would come down to the fact that most of these particular people don't have a sense of honesty with themselves. They don't actually spend time with themselves and their own thoughts. These people are not making a video journal for themselves, they're trying to find validation through attention.

@@EgoFeederzPreviously, if you acted very inappropriately in public and someone violently retaliated, there was little evidence of the crime and the police were lax in their enforcement (probably because they secretly agreed with the retaliation). Now everyone is filming everything and police have to enforce the law, even when normally they wouldn't want to. I know it's crazy but sometimes punching someone is the correct response, though it's rarely a legal one.
As a former film student I remember we were never EVER allowed to film crowd scenes or scenes out in the general public because our teacher told us it was against the law to film people without their consent and profit off of it… such as a film festival ect ect I know this is probably just to avoid scrutiny within the university but any person we filmed we needed them to fill out a form , all our actors had to do it.
Meanwhile, I'm out here feeling bad for taking too long to decide on what bread I want at the store because I worry I'm blocking access to the bread someone else wants while I make my decision.

My friend was filmed by an influencer and then the clip was published, which went viral. He repeatedly called her to take it down and he does not agree to be a part of this clip. She ignored. So he sued her and she had to pay him several hundreds thousands of dollars... In fact, he had her condo sold to cover his "actor's wage" ;-)

The worst thing about this stuff is that the person being harassed is basically required not to react because the “influencer” has a camera on them. It means they always get away with it, because no one is allowed to get angry or they’ll be filmed and demonized online. It would be normal for people to yell at these a-holes for their behaviour but no one wants that clip out there to be taken out of context and have ten million people weigh in on it. So the “influencer” can behave as poorly as they want but everyone else needs to be on their absolute best behaviour because they don’t control the narrative.
I've thought about this as well and am saddened that "background" people are afraid to express their own valid feelings due to the possibility of online backlash with little to no ability to defend themselves. I'm seriously considering buying shirts saying "I HOPE THIS RUINS YOUR VIDEO" and wear them when going out in public. If enough people start doing this, maybe "influencers" will respect us NPC's a little more.

I'm 33 and have already noticed a dramatic decline in society during my life so far . . . I can scarcely imagine the despair I'll feel should I be graced with the privilege of reaching your age. When I was a kid, "The Golden Rule" was commonly posted in classrooms and other such places. Most of my children's friends have never heard of it. They don't even know what the word "selfish" means. It's wild.
I don't get these "gymfluincers", if you want to work out and not have people doing things between you and the camera, get your own equipment and work out at home. Or go to the gym when it's quiet and no one else is around.

First question I asked my gym was if they allow people to record others. They said no, so I joined. I'm self-conscious, and the last thing I need is to be publicly humiliated by some tik tok imbecile wanting clicks and views.
I'm so glad I'm old enough to have "missed out" on tiktok and its induced behaviourisms. It would probably have made me very depressed (more than already is the case) and completely ruin my upbringing and world views.
The goofiest part of it all is that they are literally influencers. You are paid to be looked at you dingus. Don't go to. A public gym if you're gonna be a head ass.

When I was raising my millennial kids (yes, I'm old. I'm a grandmother now😂) there was this parenting trend that was pushed to raise your kids with a "high self esteem". This included not saying no ever to your kids, making sure they didn't experience disappointment, making sure that they knew that they were always amazing and special, etc. This went as far as in school they stopped using red pens to mark papers, participation tropies for everyone and the beginnings of "inclusion" no one was to he "left out" and everyone is a winner! I was constantly called a "terrible mother" because I allowed my kids to have those little disappointments in life, such as no getting everything they wanted at all times. Gasp the horror. Fast forward to now, I'm not surprised that this is now the result, adults running around truly believing they are the star of everything and can do no wrong. Only then to be utterly shocked and dismayed when they find out the world does not cater to them exclusively and there are consequences to their actions. Acting out in public is for two year olds, not grown ass adults.
That doesn’t build self esteem, it sounds like coddling and enabling poor behavior. It’s the whole participation trophy idea. Teach them how to lose with grace and learn from failure. Now we have all these “adults” who think they’re the greatest thing since sliced bread and are owed things without working for it.

This type of behavior is a cancer. I've never understood how these people can just go out and film and put random people on blast as you say. When I worked in film 20 years ago, we needed to get everyone involved signed off on everything. The property owners, the people in the film, the people filming. EVERYONE! Everyone had to know what it was for, where it was going to be distributed, what it was about, who was going to see it etc. and they needed to sign off on EVERYTHING or you couldn't do it. If you went ahead without someone signing off you could get sued. I do not understand this world we live in today.
It still can get you sued, people just assume that no one will do it. But film the wrong person with a bone to pick and money to spend, and they just might get a garnish on those influencer cheks...
And don't forget, not that long ago you also needed to obtain a special permit to do any tripod filming in public space. Whatever happened to that law? Lately it seems like the whole world fell asleep and woke up on a different planet altogether...

As an 80's kid I remember a life before the internet. The 90's were great, suddenly having access to a wealth of knowledge, and being able to chat to people on the opposite side of the world in real time was amazing. BBS sites, downloading music and movies, playing games with friends without the need for LAN parties. The 00's just built on that, It brought a lot of good to the world. Then the internet started to become strange in the 10's, narcissism was growing, and it all became downright depraved in the 20's. What I see kids doing these days is nothing but cringe material, very very few are talented enough to actually make content worth watching, and none of the "trends" are a healthy contribution to society. Basically everything since "planking" has been nothing more than attention seeking. All the so-called instagram models and self proclaimed influencers are just vomit inducers in reality. People have become so focused on themselves in this me-me-me world that the younger generation, and even a lot of people my age, forget to enjoy the world around them. You look inward for self-correction, and outward for growth, and there's not a lot of "grown up" people these days. The West is screwed.
I was thinking the same exact thing! I feel so lucky to have been born in the 80s and especially being a teenager in the very early 2000s before all this social media nonsense. Things just seemed better and our silly antics weren't for likes they were just for fun and didn't involve innocent people going on about their daily lives.

I'm a therapist and I definitely see a rise in "main character syndrome" - and it's not just in teenagers either. I ask about social media usually on their first visit and it is very telling. Some clients have an extremely difficult time laying down their phone for long enough to complete an entire session. They often have extreme anxiety or depression when a post or video doesn't get enough comments or likes. The closest thing in the DSM5 (to my knowledge) is Histrionic Personality Disorder.
Would you attribute the rise in this type of behavior with social media use like heavy social media/internet use makes them like that, or do you think it’s always been prevalent and either social media validates it or now that everyone films everything it’s just captured more than it used to be?
@@bigdinner9712 Social media has definitely made it worse, especially considering how addictive the constant validation can be - this addiction can turn the average person into a self-absorbed narcissist pretty quick. It was also prevalent before, with things like overdressing for events or not having any consideration for others, it's just narcissism at the end of the day.

It's the end of the day and I'm quite literally sitting at my desk right now as I type this. Sociopathy, while it shares some similarities with MCS (an acronym I presumably just made up), is an entirely different beast - manipulation, aggression, being impulsive, etc.
I had an influencer come stay in my airbnb, in exchange for a post and some pics. NOT WORTH IT. she left 3 stains on the doona, nappies in the bin and a lot of mess. I was shocked someone staying for free would be so disrespectful. So, I didn't lose much, gave her a midweek stay so not a loss apart from my cleaning time, BUT I gained zero followers from her. that's a shame. no surprise she didn't contact me afterwards, and thankfully it's given me actual lived experience and facts as to why I can say influencers are bullshit artists.
I've found that people who get something for free often abuse something, rather than someone who pays. If someone pays for something, they tend to value it and treat it better.
Never exchange your goods/ services for clout/ shout outs online, no matter if they swear up and down they have millions of followers, they will post all about their stay, etc. JUST DONT DO IT. as you said you basically got nothing out of it, while they got what they wanted with no work.
Playing music out loud on public transit is very much A Thing in the major American city where I live. Sometimes two or three different people will be playing different songs at the same time, while two or three (or more) other people watch TikToks or reels without headphones. If anyone says something, even "could you please turn that down?", they can expect to be met with a blank stare at best and screamed at by multiple people for not just "letting them live!!" at worst. I love my headphones and don't understand all of this.
Do you know when a child keeps repeatedly calling their parents for them see the child do some silly jump or a spin and expect them to laugh or clap hands and say "wow, good job, buddy"? As much as I support this idea, psych wards were poorly understaffed, poorly funded, poor conditions, and patient mistreatment back when they were in operation.

I don’t think people follow them much, it’s just that their videos have shock value and thus the videos themselves retain eyeballs. When that happens, the algorithm skyrockets it into many people’s feeds since it thinks people like it.

As just one examples, you've got the actual mental disorder and occasional self centered behavior being referred to by the same word. "Main Character Syndrome" is a bit more specific in that in describes a specific pattern of behavior where people show a complete disregard for everyone around them. It's completely untargeted, they just see themselves as the most important person in everyone's life. Clinical narcissists typically fixate on certain individuals in their lives, whereas these influencers think everyone thinks they are the most important person in the world

Also, in some areas it's way, way more expensive to move to them.

A lot of people these days do jobs that can only be found in cities. Personally, I think the solution to that is to make your own business so you can go wherever the hell you want, but a lot of people don't have what it takes to run their own business, hence why so many of them fail in the early stages. Then, there's the matter of history. This isn't so much a thing for Americans, but it's very common in Europe. I recently watched a documentary about a Serbian family who lived in the same apartment since 1912. Obviously, that wasn't what was remarkable about the family, but remember that they stayed not only in the same city, but the same apartment in Belgrade through 2 world wars, 50 years of socialism, Milosevic's wars, and the NATO bombing, and they are still there. Tons of European families have similar stories. When your family is so deeply ingrained with a certain area, I can understand refusing to leave
I guess the city is just more comfortable for many: you have everything you need close by.

@alexbernard6220 please do a simple search on types of narcissism. At the very least the influencer plague is fueled by a sub section of narcissism that is generally labeled as Exhibitionist Narcissism. There are a few other types of Narcissism that this behaviour fits into. A compelling argument could be made for it being a type of Community Narcissism.
I don't dispute your assertion that most of the underlying causes can be traced back to parents/parenting and also broken homes. This is a well accepted truth for most of the types of Narcissistic Behaviours evidenced today. That is not to say that some people do not just exhibit the hallmarks and behaviours without a root cause. Some people are just messed up from birth unfortunately.
If you do indeed do a search, enjoy going down the rabbit hole of one of the most dangerous types of mental maladies present today. It's shocking the level of disregard for other people that those with Narcissism and Narcissistic Tendencies have.

I went on a pilgrimage to India and Nepal. I noticed at the sacred religious sites they have to put out signs saying "No music video shoots!" and implemented a no selfie sticks & tripods policy. All because of narcissist disrespectful influencers.
I confess I am a scrooge. I hate all this kind of content. I hate influencers. Maybe it comes from growing up in a rural area with a lot of Germans, who abhorred any kind of showing off or making an exhibition of yourself. I went to Japan last year. There I genuinely met some of the kindest, friendliest people and they were incredibly polite. The majority of people there kept to themselves and were very respectful, which makes these influencers acting out for attention that much worse. If you visit another country, you respect that Country's norms and standards.

I live in Tokyo, and I absolutely hate the fact that this city is now trampled with tourists filming and recording EVERYTHING..I even saw a group of people doing that in my neighbourhood whuch is just an ordinary neighbourhood, not a tourist attraction at all !!
And just recently, I saw 3 guys ( two blacks, 1 white) dancing and recording while crossing a VERY busy street and suddenly, one of them dropped and laid down on the street..causing one elderly lady to tripped over him and fell down face first. And those guys just laughed and ran away. Sigh.

I think the first step should be stopping and refusing to label and call these people "influencers" or "main role character" or whatever other idiotic term we are calling them, and start calling them "public nuisance pests", "sociopathic narcissist", and "rude, immature attention seeking clowns". This is indeed a narcissism problem. The fact that these people see themselves as entitled to inconvinence others for clout is disappointing and shows our cultural decline. If one wants to document their life, a great time-tested means is a journal. This is not only private and safe for one's genuine thoughts, but it creates a primary source about your life that may prove useful in the future.

In general people tend to lean more towards affectation when on film, vs a sense of honesty with oneself when expressing only thoughts as you do in written form. That said, there's no rule that limits a journal to writing. A person can keep a video journal. I think then the real problem though would come down to the fact that most of these particular people don't have a sense of honesty with themselves. They don't actually spend time with themselves and their own thoughts. These people are not making a video journal for themselves, they're trying to find validation through attention.

As a former film student I remember we were never EVER allowed to film crowd scenes or scenes out in the general public because our teacher told us it was against the law to film people without their consent and profit off of it… such as a film festival ect ect I know this is probably just to avoid scrutiny within the university but
any person we filmed we needed them to fill out a form , all our actors had to do it.
Meanwhile, I'm out here feeling bad for taking too long to decide on what bread I want at the store because I worry I'm blocking access to the bread someone else wants while I make my decision.

My friend was filmed by an influencer and then the clip was published, which went viral. He repeatedly called her to take it down and he does not agree to be a part of this clip. She ignored.
So he sued her and she had to pay him several hundreds thousands of dollars... In fact, he had her condo sold to cover his "actor's wage" ;-)

It means they always get away with it, because no one is allowed to get angry or they’ll be filmed and demonized online. It would be normal for people to yell at these a-holes for their behaviour but no one wants that clip out there to be taken out of context and have ten million people weigh in on it. So the “influencer” can behave as poorly as they want but everyone else needs to be on their absolute best behaviour because they don’t control the narrative.
I've thought about this as well and am saddened that "background" people are afraid to express their own valid feelings due to the possibility of online backlash with little to no ability to defend themselves. I'm seriously considering buying shirts saying "I HOPE THIS RUINS YOUR VIDEO" and wear them when going out in public. First question I asked my gym was if they allow people to record others. They said no, so I joined. I'm self-conscious, and the last thing I need is to be publicly humiliated by some tik tok imbecile wanting clicks and views.
I'm so glad I'm old enough to have "missed out" on tiktok and its induced behaviourisms. It would probably have made me very depressed (more than already is the case) and completely ruin my upbringing and world views.
The goofiest part of it all is that they are literally influencers. You are paid to be looked at you dingus. Don't go to. A public gym if you're gonna be a head ass.
They need to be arrested for harassment and the platforms need to stop giving them money for stupid shit.

When I was raising my millennial kids (yes, I'm old. I'm a grandmother now😂) there was this parenting trend that was pushed to raise your kids with a "high self esteem". This included not saying no ever to your kids, making sure they didn't experience disappointment, making sure that they knew that they were always amazing and special, etc.
This went as far as in school they stopped using red pens to mark papers, participation tropies for everyone and the beginnings of "inclusion" no one was to he "left out" and everyone is a winner!
I was constantly called a "terrible mother" because I allowed my kids to have those little disappointments in life, such as no getting everything they wanted at all times. Gasp the horror.
Fast forward to now, I'm not surprised that this is now the result, adults running around truly believing they are the star of everything and can do no wrong. Only then to be utterly shocked and dismayed when they find out the world does not cater to them exclusively and there are consequences to their actions.
Acting out in public is for two year olds, not grown ass adults.
That doesn’t build self esteem, it sounds like coddling and enabling poor behavior. It’s the whole participation trophy idea. Teach them how to lose with grace and learn from failure. Now we have all these “adults” who think they’re the greatest thing since sliced bread and are owed things without working for it.

This type of behavior is a cancer. I've never understood how these people can just go out and film and put random people on blast as you say. When I worked in film 20 years ago, we needed to get everyone involved signed off on everything. The property owners, the people in the film, the people filming. EVERYONE! Everyone had to know what it was for, where it was going to be distributed, what it was about, who was going to see it etc. and they needed to sign off on EVERYTHING or you couldn't do it. If you went ahead without someone signing off you could get sued. I do not understand this world we live in today.
It still can get you sued, people just assume that no one will do it.
But film the wrong person with a bone to pick and money to spend, and they just might get a garnish on those influencer cheks...
And don't forget, not that long ago you also needed to obtain a special permit to do any tripod filming in public space. Whatever happened to that law? Lately it seems like the whole world fell asleep and woke up on a different planet altogether...
My son’s photography tutors insisted students delete any image that inadvertently included recognisable passers-by, so the public privacy laws are still there, in the UK at least.
As an 80's kid I remember a life before the internet. The 90's were great, suddenly having access to a wealth of knowledge, and being able to chat to people on the opposite side of the world in real time was amazing. BBS sites, downloading music and movies, playing games with friends without the need for LAN parties. The 00's just built on that, It brought a lot of good to the world. Then the internet started to become strange in the 10's, narcissism was growing, and it all became downright depraved in the 20's. What I see kids doing these days is nothing but cringe material, very very few are talented enough to actually make content worth watching, and none of the "trends" are a healthy contribution to society.
Basically everything since "planking" has been nothing more than attention seeking. All the so-called instagram models and self proclaimed influencers are just vomit inducers in reality. People have become so focused on themselves in this me-me-me world that the younger generation, and even a lot of people my age, forget to enjoy the world around them. You look inward for self-correction, and outward for growth, and there's not a lot of "grown up" people these days. The West is screwed.
I was thinking the same exact thing! I feel so lucky to have been born in the 80s and especially being a teenager in the very early 2000s before all this social media nonsense. Things just seemed better and our silly antics weren't for likes they were just for fun and didn't involve innocent people going on about their daily lives.

Because I might want to film my form performing an exercise for my coach who is on maternity leave. Or just to film my form in general. And no, I dont have the gym equipment at home, that's why I go to the gym.

I'm a therapist and I definitely see a rise in "main character syndrome" - and it's not just in teenagers either. I ask about social media usually on their first visit and it is very telling. Some clients have an extremely difficult time laying down their phone for long enough to complete an entire session. They often have extreme anxiety or depression when a post or video doesn't get enough comments or likes. The closest thing in the DSM5 (to my knowledge) is Histrionic Personality Disorder.
Would you attribute the rise in this type of behavior with social media use like heavy social media/internet use makes them like that, or do you think it’s always been prevalent and either social media validates it or now that everyone films everything it’s just captured more than it used to be?
@@bigdinner9712 Social media has definitely made it worse, especially considering how addictive the constant validation can be - this addiction can turn the average person into a self-absorbed narcissist pretty quick. It was also prevalent before, with things like overdressing for events or not having any consideration for others, it's just narcissism at the end of the day.

I had an influencer come stay in my airbnb, in exchange for a post and some pics. NOT WORTH IT. she left 3 stains on the doona, nappies in the bin and a lot of mess. I was shocked someone staying for free would be so disrespectful. So, I didn't lose much, gave her a midweek stay so not a loss apart from my cleaning time, BUT I gained zero followers from her. that's a shame. no surprise she didn't contact me afterwards, and thankfully it's given me actual lived experience and facts as to why I can say influencers are bullshit artists.
I've found that people who get something for free often abuse something, rather than someone who pays. If someone pays for something, they tend to value it and treat it better.
Never exchange your goods/ services for clout/ shout outs online, no matter if they swear up and down they have millions of followers, they will post all about their stay, etc. JUST DONT DO IT. as you said you basically got nothing out of it, while they got what they wanted with no work.

Playing music out loud on public transit is very much A Thing in the major American city where I live. Sometimes two or three different people will be playing different songs at the same time, while two or three (or more) other people watch TikToks or reels without headphones.
If anyone says something, even "could you please turn that down?", they can expect to be met with a blank stare at best and screamed at by multiple people for not just "letting them live!!" at worst.

I don’t think people follow them much, it’s just that their videos have shock value and thus the videos themselves retain eyeballs. When that happens, the algorithm skyrockets it into many people’s feeds since it thinks people like it.

Most of the time, in order to film in a location, professionals have to get a permit and pay actual money for it, yet somehow these "influencers" think they're entitled to that space in any public location out of self-importance. What a nightmare. I really wish people could get fined for pulling stuff like this.

I am less angry at these young people as I am at our generation for raising them. I work as a teacher AND OMG, EVERY F'N PARENT is like MY KID IS SPECIAL etc etc etc. We are the ones to blame for raising an entire generation of people who think they are God's gift to humanity. Of course this is how they act, they have been raised to think that their wants and wishes are more important than anyone else's. Not to mention the constant need for validation because of it!
Yeah, growing up in the 90s we got trophies and medals for just existing. That’s why I tell my kids that they’re are not special or amazing until they’ve done something worthy of those titles. Tell kids how it is; they suck at everything (at first) but can work hard to be successful anything if they want.

As just one examples, you've got the actual mental disorder and occasional self centered behavior being referred to by the same word. "Main Character Syndrome" is a bit more specific in that in describes a specific pattern of behavior where people show a complete disregard for everyone around them. It's completely untargeted, they just see themselves as the most important person in everyone's life. Clinical narcissists typically fixate on certain individuals in their lives, whereas these influencers think everyone thinks they are the most important person in the world
