    Great tips and new ideas for me once again Queenie. I pay off my credit card in full every month. As I don't travel I choose to have my points automatically redeemed for $100 cash which gets deposited into my credit card. 👌

    Hardly anyone seems to accept Amex in Australia and New Zealand. I only keep mine for use when travelling in the United States.

      That's true, that's why I also have a Mastercard or a Visa credit card as a backup 😊

    I don't want to travel. Is there any point even looking into credit cards then?

    One more gotcha with not paying your card off in full is that you lose the "interest free" status. Your 55 (or whatever) interest free days is gone until you get a zero balance statement (or complete a statement cycle with payment in full). So, if you get charged interest on an outstanding balance - pay it off in full + some daily interest to make absolutely sure the card is paid off and not accruing further interest and then set it aside (including switching all regular payments...or pre-pay the scheduled payments onto the card) and use another card until you get a zero-balance statement again.

    As always you make some great points Queenie. The One takeaway ( I knew this already) was banks look at the limits on your credit cards as a potential debt and your ability to repay that debt. Even though you only owe a small amount or owe nothing. At the same time, banks are quite happy tp increase your limit , I never do and my limits have not changed in 30 years, and never will. Stay in control of your personal finances. Thanks again Queenie.

      @InvestWithQueenie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Henry! Yes agree that’s why I reduce my credit limit when I’m applying for loans. So true that they are happy to increase our limit but the key is knowing!

    Also to mention that if you unknowingly apply for a credit card online (I.e. they do a check but you're not really applying for a credit card) it goes on your credit record and registers as a rejection. Also banks actually look at total of the card vs what's on the card. E.g. if I have a $5K card though I have a $0 balance it's added as a $5K debt coz there's potential you would use the debt. Really depends on how much you earn whether that matters or not.

    So are you saying you are changing credit cards every year? Just to get the bonus points? Does that cause any problems

    I still only use 1 card for all of my needs but I've thought about doing the credit card hacks for those sign on bonuses!

    • @InvestWithQueenie
      @InvestWithQueenie  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Queenie, how often do you change credit cards to maximise points? Is it every year?

  • @Chaziradncjfdn

    Does this mean you cancel the card once you have used your flight? Then get another card for the next flight?

    Hi Queenie, is there any way to put rent through a credit card to help with minimum payments?

      Hi Queenie and Sayuri - have you tried using RentPay? I plan to use it to meet minimum spends although I'd hope that it would count as an 'eligible purchase'

    How do you claim your fees as travel?

    • @InvestWithQueenie
      @InvestWithQueenie  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The annual fee is sometimes given as a credit so you kind of use it like a gift card!
