One thing that can help to save fuel is to turn off drive assist. Gotta be extra careful when driving, but the fuel you save from not having to stay on the throttle is a huge help.
@@abhijeetdey you only use it when you are going in a straight line. But I agree, you can't turn our really do much of anything else besides going in a straight.
@@archiepedrola622 ive been doing this for 32 years, i freaking hate steering wheels. Its just that the debris in Star Trucker is smarter than the average automobile driver
In one of the workshop you can change the hood ornament. There is one that from the chair looks like a ball on a stick. I find it helpful as a steering , aiming aid 😊
I use a hood ornament that looks like a cross hair from the driver's seat. I can't recall which ornament it is, exactly, but from the side, it looks like a long teardrop with a ring around it.
I feel your struggle trying to back into that docking station. I find it easier to just drive face forward to it then stop close it and then just turn left or right and you should be able to back into it easier.
You might know this, might not, but the big triangle button in the middle is the Driver Assist. If you're heading in one direction, pick up some speed so the cargo all straightens out, then turn Driver Assist off. Your truck will maintain velocity without using any fuel. Obviously watch your speed in debris-rich areas, and if you need to slow down, duck anything, or turn even slightly, flip the assist back on so the stabilisation system keeps everything in line - otherwise everything will drift and drag and generally go all out of control. Using the cruise control you might as well flush your fuel down the drain, but tactical use of the Driver Assist means you can make it across multiple systems using barely any fuel at all.
I have used it here and there but to be honest in this particular game I am not a fan of it. If it was bindable to a key I would probably use it more. Maybe in the upcoming patch since they have expressed that they're adding custom keybindings.
i suspect the phantom damage came from some jump portal shenanigans. my first portal ever I made the mistake of reading the manual in the glovebox while exiting on the other side, and that somehow made me skip the braking gates. I came out of that thing at about 1000 mph lol
At first i was driving in 3rd person all the time as i couldnt see crap. Then i saw a different youtuber with a much wider more natural view. Turns out the default FOV is only set to 50 degrees.. 😂 i changed mine out to 70 and it looks right to me.
A couple days ago Haze Way broke my entire playthrough (kinda my fault too because I was using a single save space). It turns out the Xbox version has a very specific bug with this mission as when you are about to use the gate you end up losing the trailers and crash at lighspeed with the slowdown gates at the other side. Lesson learnt I guess. I'm still amazed this game was made by like two and a half people.
Yeah the rewards are absolute bullshit even if you set the rewards to "high" they're not high enough considering the cost of fuel, air filters, batteries and repair :/
Couldnt you just live in your space suit and save the air filter cost?? With fuel saving tricks and power saving tricks should net positive cost of batteries.
You certainly can spend a lot of time in your suit with the air system off, but you do not get infinite time in your suit and the suit charger eats power like crazy.
It does make sense. Even in zero gravity newtons first law applies, so you would need to know how much weight you're hauling in order to correctly counter act it. This isn't a factor in this game, but gravity from the star, planets etc would still be influencing you and your truck as well. (I am somewhat of a space nerd if you cannot tell)

Ya I only do that if I've got a nice straight shot. It can get quite sketch real fast
@@Z_732 that it can. I do the same thing honestly
It's unplayable if you turn off the drive assist

Im totally meta. Im a real life truck driver, playing a space trucker game while sitting in a Kenworth and driving a space Peterbuilt
Haha nice!

I hope they add things like contraband to the game where you can only sell to black markets in some systems
That box storage strategy is golden. I was keeping my boxes in the closed air lock
I keep my spare fuel can in the air lock
I love this game Charlie, I love it I love it I love it!!!!!!
I love seeing someone playing games i like on this platform. I really like your vids! keep up the good work!
Glad you 're enjoying them!

Ouch that sounds rough. I hope you were able to recover! Maybe that got fixed in the latest patch.
I'm pretty sure you're trailers somehow hit the gate coming into new aspen
Could be! I am not 100% sure.
Good old haze way. Suggestion for you is to upgrade fuel efficiency and watch prices in tank town. Now air filters are my only woe
did i just witness you walking back in forth in your cockpit for 10 minutes to look at the air filters 50 millions times?!?!?!?
And thats edited. Imagine how many times I actually look at my air filters 😂
Start looking for beacon they hold most of the stuff you can use in your truck...you'll get that horn upgrade from candy mission
I love your vids
Thank you! :)
I did not know you could re fuel with those jugs of fuel.
The payout for having to go through haze way needed to be tripled for this mission
I know right!?
27:15 I can't believe he only got paid $1500 for this job, it's just not worth it.

Good thing they fixed it, and a lot more!
Specially the batteries!
Game needs trailer brakes 😊
You should sell your used air Filters they go for almost the same price as a new one.
guy ses dont wanna spend money on air filters 😂 do you like livin sir?
😂
The Hazeway beacons are a little hard to see. I missed them my first time as well and got wrecked by an asteroid. I recommend to always follow them.
Yeah, it was stressful but fun!

Why is your cargo defined by weight?
