My first year using the Chapin. Ran mine through tilled soil and it worked flawlessly. Corn, peas, beets - easiest planting I've ever had. Hope you have better luck down the road.
@TheBack50 I did till that area a few times. Tried to rake it smooth but I'll try and do better this next season. I have a lot of root balls with clay that made it difficult

I would think you would have to till the ground up first. It's not a no-till seeder.
