I remember the washington bridge also. I remember one winter day the bridge was stuck open as it used to open now and then. My mom and I were in the car. Fire trucks were on scene hosing down the bridge in places where it was iced up.

I grew up in Rumford and as a kid in the 60s remember driving across the Red Bridge. It was rickety. Then that newer bridge was built
