This song is beautiful and her voice is Heavenly, I'm glad I came across it! I wish there was more music like this. The Melody the keyboard, THE CHORUS IT'S A PERFECT SONG!
Amaranth is a type of perennial plant for those who keep asking. I don't want to tell anyone how to interpret music, that is always a personal exploration but I think one way to look at this song's meaning is that you should try to find the thing or person that brings you joy in life and to always hold onto it even through the tears of sorrow that life brings. This video is based on a painting called 'The Wounded Angel' by finnish painter Hugo Simberg which was voted as Finland's national painting at the Ateneum art museum in 2006. The beauty of the amaranth could also be symbolic of romance or resurrection such as the greek legend of Amaranthus, a hunter who was killed by a tidal wave caused by Poseidon; Artemis, goddess of the hunt, revived him in the form of an amaranth flower.
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! WHEN I WAS 6 I WAS REALLY IN LOVE WITH THIS AMAZING SONG SO NOW I AM 17 AND I AM THE HAPPIEST PERSON IN THE WORLD BECAUSE I’VE FOUNED THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!! RUSSIA LOVES YOU !!❤️

it’s not pop really, only metal heads concerned with “metal is this and that” would call her voice or this song “pop” her voice is clear and crystalline. it’s a different element you’re trying to describe here. it ain’t pop.
I don't understand the discussions about who is the best nightwish singer. In my opinion all did a great job. Because of the changes nightwish is always interesting to hear, because every singer created an own style. So great work Marco, anette, tarja, floor and co👍
People just don't like change. I get why people didn't like Anette due to the style change in the music but I still think she did a fantastic job. I don't hold any preference over her or Tharja. Haven't listened to Floor yet tbh.
Well, taking a soprano voice ( Tharja) away and replacing it with a pop style voice, simply took away the identity from the band. It doesn't mean good or bad, it means that the atmosphere, mood, identity is no longer the same and the band itself can be heard like any other mass metal bands now. It lost "the bite" . Comparing this voice with the soprano print of Tharja there's an abyss between the two, so, in this case, more tha disliking changes, is disliking the fall from a peculiar, strong, unique identity to the mass. Without any disrespect for the Anette, simply her voice doesn't fit with this genre of music. :)
Anette is a soft rock singer with theatrical sensibilities. These strengths were emphasized on Imaginaerum. The fact of the matter is that Nightwish never lost any "bite"... the group simply took on a new identity with Anette (as has happened again with Floor). People are always quick to despise change, but there was nothing wrong with the transition from Tarja's metallic vibrato to Anette's character singing. Bear in mind that all forms of music can interact with one another however any composer pleases (Tarja's lyric soprano would've never melded with metal fifty years ago, right?), so Tuomas provided us with an immensely distinct combination of heaviness and tenderness that only Anette could help contribute to. Her torch singing was lush and vibrant! She was meant to signal something new, not replace that which once was. And honestly, I think that Anette was better for Nightwish in the long run and am glad that she got to record two strong albums with the boys! When people compare, all they wind up doing is selling the music and the vocals short of what they really are.
I can see why Nightwish fans don't like Anette's voice, she doesn't use that "opera" tone like Tarja or Floor then everyone talks shit to Anette saying she is a crap singer, but no, having a different style doesn't mean she sucks. In fact I personally prefer her clean voice style
Moe Z Downs yah Floor better singer like Tarja too..but trust me neither Floor or Tarja singles can beat Anette Amaranth..! This song also no 1 in Spotify n iTunes.! Think of it Nwish has no iconic song outside of the metal realm like Metlicca enter sandman or Imaiden run to the hills that show their signature !
I'm a fan of nightwish and I will always be as long as they keep making good music.. I don't give a shit about who comes and who goes all I care about is the music

One of my all-time favourite songs by Nightwish! Poetic, melodic, heavy, and relentless and uplifting in the chorus! A true masterpiece by them, as far as I'm concerned. I will always love it, no matter how many years may grate away at me. I wish I had the privilege of witnessing this played live so that I could truly rock away to it with them.
That was the first song i 've heard from Nightwish 12 years ago... It blew me away and then...Nemo! I knew by then that this band was not alike any other. And so every single album of them has a special place in my disc case! Long live Nightwish!
So many fans bashing Annette for not being Tarja or Floor, but this sing as well as Bye Bye Beautiful are proof this girl can be awesome with the right song. Not all song are for everyone, lets see Tarja singing Amaranth...
Floor can sing it, but it just doesn't sound or feel the same. This song was what basically sold fans on Annette and she pretty much owns it, IMO. This is usually what happens when a singer records an original song and the fans come to love it, though...no other singer is ever going to get it "quite right" to the ear. I think Floor is an awesome fit for Nightwish and I don't think Annette really was, but when it comes to this song...it's all Annette, for me.
Nightwish and Hugo Simberg. What a magnificent Finnish Combination. Hugo Simberg is considered by many as the greatest Finnish painter, and the painting "The Wounded Angel" which this Nightwish clip is based upon, is presented in the Finnish National Gallery - The Ateneum, in Helsinki's City center. You should all come and visit Finland, great country, great people. Suomi - Nightwish - Simberg 🇫🇮🎸🤍✨️🙏
Anett i remember meeting u and the rest of Nightwish at afterparty after a consert in Glasgow many many yrs ago… it was great. and what was even better… well when i was to go home i did get driven home in the Nightwish tour bus along with my friends… i totally love this album and i think it is a shame that anett aint singing in Nightwish anymore….
I whole-heartedly disagree. That key change is one of the most cliché movements out there, and it did not deserve to be brought here from the hell known as "pop music".
This was the first song from Nightwish I'd ever heard, it's been 12 years since then and they're now one of my favorite musical acts of all time, and I still regret not having heard of them sooner, during the Tarja years, but I think it was a blessing in disguise, as Annette Olson being the first vocalist I'd heard of theirs made her much easier for me to accept than had I gone from Tarja to Annette. I agree with the general concensus that Annette was their weakest vocalist, but I think she's pretty damned great, too, and Escapist is still my all-time favorite Nightwish song, and it's a song neither Floor, or Tarja could pull off as well as Annette did.
Everyone debating who the best front woman is and what I miss is Jukka behind that drum kit of his. Really miss that man he brought a lot more than just banging on the skins.
Tarja, Anette, Floor,...all sound amazing... What ever you boys do - sounds great.. Personlly I would no fight against hearing Marko putting some gouts here and there - yet you can blow the way - who ever is there...
I love this song. It sounds poppy and all at first glance (and I don't have a problem with that at all), but when you listen past the choir, orchestra, vocals, synths and whatnot, you get to a kickass, groovy main riff. Ton of fun to play on guitar, if I might add.
2007... it came out 2007... my gosh i'm 24 now. Shortly before Tarja was leaving Nightwish, that was one of my biggest dreams to see them live. and now im 24.. time is running oh lord.. i can remember how often i heard "I wish i had an angel"...
I´ve been looking for this song for years. Like seriously, how hard can it be to find a song. Ever since I saw this music video on an old Swedish show in like 2008, I have had the picture of them carrying that angel and just couldn´t remember the name of the song or artist. Today, it has been all I have been thinking of and I just had enough and decided to check on google. Seriously; MV carrying a fallen angel, then scrolling through all Eurovision TIX videos and BOOM there it is!
Not sure if it's the song, the video, the multiple ways this can be interpreted or all the above. It makes me hate how we as human, destroy that which we do not understand either out of fear, some misguided notion or simply because it's different. Either way, this song always makes me sorrowful and hate what we are.
Same feeling for me, I still remember watching it the day it was releasedm though it's insane how video quality has improved (as opposed to music quality - overall speaking).
Love Tarja. Phenomenal voice. Undoubtedly magical! But I also love the other vocalists Nightwish have had after her. Excellent choices and still a f awesome band!!
This song shows that when given a song to sing within her vocal range she could sing as the best. Very unfair to give her songs beyond her vocal range.
I like this video, because i thjink the balance between storytelling and performance is good. Also the storytelling part has nice scenes (just good to see XD)
NW were the first metal band i've ever listened to in my life. I was 8 or 9 years old when i heard Bye Bye Beautiful on tv and i didn't actually even know that they had a different singer before Annette but i will say she's my favorite. Tarja is my close second favorite but everytime i hear Annette i just get happy, and when i hear Annette and Marco together i get completely ecstatic. It's now 2020, i'm almost 20, i still miss Annette and Tarja but i still absolutely adore this band

i’m so glad my parents listened to Nightwish when i was younger, and now, years later i found them again and i’m in love
This song is beautiful and her voice is Heavenly, I'm glad I came across it! I wish there was more music like this. The Melody the keyboard, THE CHORUS IT'S A PERFECT SONG!
this song is amaziiiing, Anette is amazinnggg. As a number 1 fan of Tarja, I have to admit that Anette is graceful too, her voice is catching
I swear the drummer looks like he's riding off into an epic battle in every video lol.
Jukka FEEL THE SONG!!
Every metal drummer ever
To me he looks like a gothic pirate
He looks like an angry version of Jeff Porcaro.
That's because he is. Hes the Viking
I honestly think that Annete was the perfect bridge between Tarja and Floor. Great delivery!
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! WHEN I WAS 6 I WAS REALLY IN LOVE WITH THIS AMAZING SONG SO NOW I AM 17 AND I AM THE HAPPIEST PERSON IN THE WORLD BECAUSE I’VE FOUNED THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!! RUSSIA LOVES YOU !!❤️
With that pretty face of yours you have every right to be happy ;)
Sinyx Don't.
Love from Australia!
Clicked on comments because I knew there'd be the one creepy guy.. So far
OMG SAMEEEEE BUT IM 15 years old
Lyrics:
Baptized with a perfect name
The doubting one by heart
Alone without himself
War between him and the day
Need someone to blame
In the end, little he can do alone
You believe but what you see?
You receive but what you give?
Caress the one, the never-fading
rain in your heart - the tears of snow-white sorrow
Caress the one, the hiding amaranth
In a land of the daybreak
Apart from the wandering pack
In this brief flight of time we reach
For the ones, whoever dare
You believe but what you see?
You receive but what you give?
Caress the one, the never-fading
rain in your heart - the tears of snow-white sorrow
Caress the one, the hiding amaranth
In a land of the daybreak
Reaching, searching for something untouched
Hearing voices of the never-fading calling
Caress the one, the never-fading
rain in your heart - the tears of snow-white sorrow
Caress the one, the hiding amaranth
In a land of the daybreak
My aunt first showed me this song when I was about 5 or 6 years old. I am so glad I found it once again after searching desperately for 10 years!
Lisen to all their songs, that's gold!
Your aunt has great taste, and congrats for finding this gem again
Your aunt rocks!
It took you 10 years to find a song??
God bless, Anette! My two favorite records from Nightwish is with her.
Steve Harris defined so well the band after she get in.
I love 3 vocalist but No one can sing amaranth better than annete. they have their own style
Really agree! This belongs just to Anette!
True. For me Sleeping Sun is Tarja's song; this one is Anette's.
You're right. I listened to the Wacken version, and it doesn't really sound the same. Floor belts it out, but she doesn't have the same impact as Anette did with this song.
Well, you never listened Thalia sing it (nether do I), so your statement kind of nonsense.
yes..all 3 have something special but
also different
As a lover of both old, mid, and new NW, this still gives me chills. A gem of a song

Don't think I've ever seen someone so passionately play a keyboard. The drummer is fire for real. They all rock!!
The juxtaposition of her vocals to the heavy metal is so striking. It makes for a very pleasant listening experience.
She had the perfect voice for this. You don't have to love her versions of other songs, but her pop-like tones fit this song perfectly.
it’s not pop really, only metal heads concerned with “metal is this and that” would call her voice or this song “pop”
her voice is clear and crystalline. it’s a different element you’re trying to describe here. it ain’t pop.
@@blue_sky_bright_sun7599 nah it’s pop
Tarja is the clear answer though! ;)
Agreed dude, theyre both fantastic in their own right
I sure miss Jukka Nevalainen on drums!!! He was one of the reasons I enjoyed Nightwish so much over the years!
I can see why Nightwish fans don't like Anette's voice, she doesn't use that "opera" tone like Tarja or Floor then everyone talks shit to Anette saying she is a crap singer, but no, having a different style doesn't mean she sucks. In fact I personally prefer her clean voice style
Sorry, but I'd say you haven't seen Floor on their video... she blows Anette AND Tarja off the Map...
Moe Z Downs Floor is an amazing singer I agree, but again, her style is different from Anette's
Moe Z Downs yah Floor better singer like Tarja too..but trust me neither Floor or Tarja singles can beat Anette Amaranth..! This song also no 1 in Spotify n iTunes.! Think of it Nwish has no iconic song outside of the metal realm like Metlicca enter sandman or Imaiden run to the hills that show their signature !
ever band and sing have something the others dont .... its call there style of music --- just like some like pop other like rap ...
I'm a nightwish fan and I love Anette's Voice. I love tarja and anette. I don't see why everyone hates anette so much its sad.
I'm a fan of nightwish and I will always be as long as they keep making good music.. I don't give a shit about who comes and who goes all I care about is the music
They absolutely played to Annette’s strengths!! She is amazing!

przepiękna piosenka od strony nightwish
Początek dla mnie najlepszy
+Benekol zgadzam się:)
Tylko youngigi
jak możesz:( nightwish w porównaniu do tego czegoś z autotune to cudo
Now Amaranthe should make a song called Nightwish.
+David Kuchen They should call it Nightwishe
They Call Me Sully ahahahaha, nice one my friend
lol
Nightwishe by Amaranthe
+Athena Prescott arrived 17 hours late to give same exact reaction... shit
One of the best songs ever.
I always love watching this because the drummer is having the time of his life
Yes ! exactly
finally someone said it !
love that guy ! he's drummed like a total badass in this song !
Jükka is badass
One of my all-time favourite songs by Nightwish! Poetic, melodic, heavy, and relentless and uplifting in the chorus! A true masterpiece by them, as far as I'm concerned. I will always love it, no matter how many years may grate away at me. I wish I had the privilege of witnessing this played live so that I could truly rock away to it with them.
Love Anette‘s voice. It’s so melodic.I wish she had an AOR band.
Not all song are for everyone, lets see Tarja singing Amaranth...
idk about Tarja, but Floor can defenitely sing Amaranth. No disrespect fro Anette though.
+Kevin Deselms ah yes, that makes sense. The first time I heard Amaranth, it was by Floor.
Anette will always be the greatest singer in my heart
I always loved what she brought to nightwish! Woman has some lungs!
Thanks for the explanation, I'm from Brazil and I live in Portugal, I love this song and the clip
I love that chorus so much! Her singing/voice fits it perfectly.
Voice isn't bad but the producer did a good job.
The one and only Nightwish song truly "owned" by a singer other than Tarja ☺ You rock Anette Olzon. This is YOUR song! 😎
I have been sleeping on Nightwish. Gods forgive me I did not know. One of the Catchiest songs ever.
7 years ago this song came out, can't believe it's gone that fast
Its also been 7 years ago since I last time moved with my family and yes its also gone that fast.
12years now
Still hype to this song in 2021. I remember listen to that, when i was younger, in the German music channel VIVA.
I love how they change the key in the final chorus it is amazing!
I whole-heartedly disagree. That key change is one of the most cliché movements out there, and it did not deserve to be brought here from the hell known as "pop music".
shining armor must be fun at parties XD
Modulation is beautiful!
One of my first heard metal bands..So many memories... The start of a journey🤘🏻
Neron Dominus a great journey
Its 2021, and still listening to this beautiful song.
👇
This is Nightwish's best rock song. Everything is right about this number, no person can say that it is not.👏🏻🇳🇱🇳🇱
This was the first song from Nightwish I'd ever heard, it's been 12 years since then and they're now one of my favorite musical acts of all time, and I still regret not having heard of them sooner, during the Tarja years, but I think it was a blessing in disguise, as Annette Olson being the first vocalist I'd heard of theirs made her much easier for me to accept than had I gone from Tarja to Annette. I agree with the general concensus that Annette was their weakest vocalist, but I think she's pretty damned great, too, and Escapist is still my all-time favorite Nightwish song, and it's a song neither Floor, or Tarja could pull off as well as Annette did.
Essa música é simplesmente incrível
I really like the energy from front woman (Anette Olzon) and the drummer (Jukka Nevalainen). They in particular made this music video awesome.
To be fair, everyone else is in slow motion 😂
Well what do ya know. They are.
Everyone debating who the best front woman is and what I miss is Jukka behind that drum kit of his. Really miss that man he brought a lot more than just banging on the skins.
They're an awesome pair.
Tarja, Anette, Floor,...all sound amazing... What ever you boys do - sounds great.. Personlly I would no fight against hearing Marko putting some gouts here and there - yet you can blow the way - who ever is there...
One of my older friends used to be a music journalist, he got to interview Anette in this era of Nightwish, hell of a guy.
My first Nightwish song, now they are my favourite band ever.
This is my first Nightwish song when I discovered this band in 2017. I'm so glad Anette is still active. I love her so much! ❤
June 2019 and I'm still in love with this anette 😍
I'll be back on july 2019 also
also august 2019, and every other month till im alive
I love this song. It sounds poppy and all at first glance (and I don't have a problem with that at all), but when you listen past the choir, orchestra, vocals, synths and whatnot, you get to a kickass, groovy main riff. Ton of fun to play on guitar, if I might add.
2007... it came out 2007... my gosh i'm 24 now. Shortly before Tarja was leaving Nightwish, that was one of my biggest dreams to see them live. and now im 24.. time is running oh lord.. i can remember how often i heard "I wish i had an angel"...
Lol, I thought exactly the same thing when I saw when it was uploaded.. except I am 30 now.
Seriously; MV carrying a fallen angel, then scrolling through all Eurovision TIX videos and BOOM there it is!
its grazy how this used to be my favourite song when i was 5-6 yr old, now i can understand what their actually singing and its giving such nostalgia
Maybe I have the strangest feelings but somehow this song touches me deeply and I am nearly about to cry.
im fuckin crying already
Not sure if it's the song, the video, the multiple ways this can be interpreted or all the above.
It makes me hate how we as human, destroy that which we do not understand either out of fear, some misguided notion or simply because it's different.
Either way, this song always makes me sorrowful and hate what we are.
This songs puts me in one such a good mood. Anette Olzon at her very best, within her vocal range.
Anette and Taria is best rock of Finland . 👍👍👍
I adore this band !!! All nightwish songs give me so much motivation and inspiration !!
Never forget Anette Olson!!!! Such a great Voice...
Wow, 13 years ago? Feels like just yesterday...
Same feeling for me, I still remember watching it the day it was releasedm though it's insane how video quality has improved (as opposed to music quality - overall speaking).
Feels old now?
Exactly😩
This was the album that introduced me over a decade ago to Nightwish. This still is one of my favorite songs.
I am thirteen years old.
1 Day ago, WOW..
Yes!
that is why I don't get why they chose her to replace Tarja, she is not a bad singer but you cant expect her to fill shoes as big as those....
I loved the way this singer sings 💖
Even though everyone says bad stuff about Anette I think is probably my favourite nightwish song!
I really love Tarja era and Anette era too, a refresh with new music. Floor is excellent and I think each of her worth the music they sing.
I actually loved this album with her as the vocalist
Opinion on Floor?
Das allerbeste Lied von Nightwish für immer, besser geht nicht.
I almost turned the captions off until I realized this was finally my chance after 12 years to finally figure wtf she was saying in the chorus 😂🖤
There's always something quite fantastic about a keyboard player headbanging.
Qué hermosura es regresar a esta canción y a todo lo que ha significado para mí desde que era una niña. ¡Nightwish vive por siempre! Le han dado un significado muy especial a mi vida. ❤️
:)
Never really clinged on to any songs but there was a period when there was no one and nothing in my life but this song and if any song ever meant something special to me it's this one. I was 37 when I first heard it and at that age you don't get impressed easily
I remember this clip since i was 7 when my cousin used to watch it all the time... glad i finally found it 😍 took me 12years
Anette Olzon queen 🖤 this album was the one that got me totally hooked to this band I love her voice.
Dark passion play and Imaginaerum forever in my playlist I love those albums.
