What Lewis said in that Mexico interview perfetcly explains why Seb and Ferrari didn't make the title that year. When you're in a title fight, especially one as close as this one was, you simply cannot afford to make mistakes, as small and unimportant they may look to the eye. Seb and Ferrari were off for a incredibly strong start, but a series of mistakes, small and large ones, both by the team and by Seb himself, really hurt them in the whole campaign and cost them the title in the end. Not only things like Seb skating into the barrier at Hockenheim while leading the race, also the moves on Verstappen at Suzuka and Ricciardo at CotA which pretty much stripped him of a bunch of podium finishes and a good bag of points in that season.
and last year ferrari did the same thing, and in 2010, it seems A LOT that company culture hurts ferrari capability to do things right, it seems that everyone is afraid to make mistakes, and when they do they are ultra harshly punished, redbull has the same team principal since its foundation, mercedes had 3 team principals, mainly because brawn didnt want to continue with the team, and they had a "replacement" untill they found Toto, while in the mean time ferrari had 5 diferent team boss and ALL of them were substituted by the team because of sheer pressure and unreasunable circunstances, its a shame that ferrari cant fight the way it used on the past its a team with so much history.
In Monza, they prioritzed Kimi over Vettel in Quali i.e. giving him a tow. Even as a Lewis fan I was thinking WTF strategy is that? Why not prioritise the championship contender? Everyone loves Kimi I get it but by him getting Pole position meant instead of being having a rear gunner in Kimi Vettel and Lewis were fighting for position on the first lap and it ended up in disaster when Vettel made the mistake of not crashing into Lewis at turn 4-5. As much as the blame is on Vettel, I think Ferrari's disastrous Quali strategy lead to Vettel's first lap desparation move.
I don't like how some fans try to discredit lewis by saying he had no competition during his reign but I feel like that's even more disrespect to how good Vettel was here
what i hate the most is that now with Max on top all the time win everything ppl start to compare to Lewis's domination. Tbh its not the same because Lewis had to figth and there were close maches for championships now 1 car dominate all and thats it the rest thx for beenig present on the race... boring .... Idont hate Max but its stupid idea to copare every ones era of domination
Completely agreed, and it’s not even true that Lewis didn’t have to compete. 2008- his battle with Massa literally went down to the last lap. 2014 his battle with Rosberg went to the last race. 2015 he won it but a few races later earlier. 2017 and 2018 battle with Vettel. 2019 and 2020 it was more one sided in favour of Merc. But Lewis has always had competition, whether it was his own teammates or other teams
It's so true. And they are both great guys, quiet Fins. I think people just have far more hate for Hamilton. So they always say that its the car, and they diminish Bottas more to try and minimise how good Hamilton is.
@@king_zapp I love them both. People just need to respect them more. Seb and Lewis are the GOATs, so it was pretty hard for them to win especially with Max getting better and better
People hate on Valtteri (albeit too often imo) for being a second player on far and away the best car on the grid in the Turbo Hybrid era and essentially gifting Lewis a championship in 2019 and 2020 and I think fans just vent their frustration on Valtteri who, although he doesn't deserve it, is not in a similar situation to Kimi since the Ferrari was never the best car on the grid since he rejoined. And in his 5th year at Merc, has he shown that he has the skill to bring the fight to Hamilton? If anything it looks like the gap is widening and if Merc get in a position where they don't have the most dominant car (which this is shaping up to be the year), the second driver can't just be average for F1 standards if Mercedes want to win the Constructor's title.
@@dsafadsddfca absolutely spot on. They need the push to be competitive. But in every era, when you place 2 of the best drivers in the same team. It always turns sour for the pair, but it is fantastic for the Constructor. So it's a shorter term engagement, with a higher likelihood of success. Next year will be interesting with the major changes... And I think there will be a new teammate rivalry that will rock formula 1.
Incredible that we are able to experience such amazingly well made documentaries here on YT for free. This along with The Silver War are 2 of the best F1 Documentaries ever made. No fat, no narrator and the story edited beautifully. Great Job.

Your hope is legit, but I really think his time as an f1 star is long over. I just can't stand all those hypocrites who kept bashing Ferrari and being compassionate at him, his performance last year was appalling, orrendous. He's surely a great guy, but if he doesn't turn the page this year he deserves to be out of F1.
@@due_2477 i agree. As hard as it is to say for me as a seb fan, his performance was terrible last year. In 2019 it was still okay and germany 2018 definitively wasnt the only reason why he lost confidence because he showed his brilliance in belgium that year and singapore and canada in 2019. But i also think that italy 2019 really changed something among the tifosi leading them to lets say start to prefer leclerc over vettel
@@occusive2637 exactly, in 18, as well as in germany, he had similar huge mistakes in france, monza, suzuka and austin... a bit too much for a driver who wants to be champion. and I'm saying that from a Ferrari diehard fan and seb supporter
And people just say lewis just won championships without any fight. He has to fight for every championship either with his team mates or other team’s. He’s truly a legend
2015 2019 and 2020 were the titles he won easily. He had to work hard for 2008 2014 2017 2018, and was so close for 2007 2016 and 2021. Truly the greatest ever
2014 and 2015 were easy, mainly because(this is general knwoledge) that hamilton had a better car than rosberg,he had preferencial treatment in terms of upgrades. Look what happened in 2016 when they were actually given equal cars.
I reckon the way Aston Martin is growing (literally hiring everyone else’s engineers at this point) that he could be fighting for wins in 2 years especially with the new regs coming up. The way he has been this season and his attitude shows that he still has a lot of fight in him.
@@jackharvey9808 it took Michael Schumacher years to build up the Mercedes team before it started to dominate. I would imagine it would be a similar story with Seb and Aston Martin

@Lucas Tavares Not even by miles. I always see that argument. Ferrari was as strong throughout the season, it's jus that Merc and Hamilton just placed very strong performances the 2nd half of the season. That Ferrari was still a championship winning car.
The Ferrari was the fastest car in Singapore, matched only by the Red Bull’s. That should’ve been the race where Seb closed the championship lead. It’s just that Hamilton massively outperformed his car and took a pole that should’ve never been his at a track that favored track position.
What an awesome video! Anyone thinking Lewis has had an easy ride these last few years, should watch this. People have incredibly short memories! Stunning work FLoz 👌 Netflix take note!
I just finished rewatching your "Silver Wars" Series, and now i come back to see you've released a new video - this is great. Thank you for your work, i very much enjoy your creations.
This is seriously great, the way you cut from onboard to broadcast footage is how hollywood SHOULD approach racing scenes (and how Netflix should as well). It feels enhanced but not fake. Great work!
As a Hamilton fan I do have a soft spot for Vettel being with the team he's with now and how he got there. I truly wish Vettel had the car to seriously compete against the top drivers like Lewis and Max this year. Nonetheless Seb will always be considered a great driver.
Him and ferrari failed to keep up. Vettel had bad luck too. With verstappen taking him out in China and in Suzuka. But they both failed to bring down Mercedes and Hamilton.
Yeah, I think a lot of people have forgotten. You don't get to 7 championships by not having an absolute stone cold killer mindset. There are only 2 of these minds in F1 right now and that's Lewis and Max. Fernando is almost there but not quite. All that matters to Lewis and Max is the win at all costs.
Kimi must be the best no. 2 driver. He already won a title and very matured, he's just helping seb to win his 5th. everytime he sees sebastian he always move to the side and give way to his teammate even without team orders. The Iceman is truly one of a kind

What a masterpiece, Floz ! The only thing that is very clear in this video is the mutual respect Seb and Lewis have for each other. Sure, they've had their fair bits of rivalries and crashes but they never lost the respect unlike Nico and Lewis.
This is definitely a top of the line production. The editing, the music and the actions. thanks to the producer for all the hard work in making these epic features.
By the end of the season, they had the fastest car. Even in the first 5 races, whilst Vettel got poles, the pace of the Mercedes was clear in Australia, Bahrain and Spain. Ferrari were half a minute behind in Spain. Those races were not won on pace by Vettel, at Australia, and Bahrain. Ferrari managed 1 pole in the second half of the season, and 1 win. Hamilton achieved 6 more wins than Vettel, all 6 coming in the last 8 races. If that isn’t domination in a championship fight, I don’t know what is. Obviously Ferrari and Vettel made mistakes which can’t be ignored, but the points and pace gap in the second half of the season was substantial. Your videos are amazing 👏👏👏 This one perfectly portrayed the respect Sebastian and Lewis have for each other. Can't wait to see yours for this season with the fight between Max and Lewis.
That title could've and should've been for Ferrari and Vettel. They had the car, decent strategies sometimes and a good first half of the season development. But Vettel took too much risks, maybe trying to be more agressive in constrast to his 2017 season and trying to carry his Ferrari into the limits...he failed, sadly. Mercedes and Hamilton made all the job they had to do, they we're the best team and driver overall, even if sometimes they had problems, even a little more than Ferrari, and in the second half, they took every single but 1 of those races. This was the season when I started to watch F1, and it was incredible. Thank you Floz, you did an impressive work, as always :D

First watched the 2017 one of this and also 2016 while the 2018 was already underway. So glad you made a 2018 story too! By far Hamilton’s best season.
then your not a Vettel Fan couse its just not true. Seb is the only driver who was able to compete against hamilton who always sat in the better car since 2014. He made a lot of Mistakes, his Team made even more Mistakes and he had a lot of bad luck and dont Forget that seb has beaten Hamilton 4 year in a row from 2009 to 2013 and yes may have had the better car but it wasnt as dominant as the mercedes is nowadays/the past 7 years. The next thing is that bottas and russel both showed how easy it is to win with this car and also please remember that lewis never really sat in a really bad car. Seb for example was winning in 2008 with Torro Rosso and also at his first gp ever in a fuckin bmw sauber he had the 3 fastest Lap. So we will never know if he is also able to push it in a bad car. All in all i think seb is the better driver which just has not got the luck which lewis has and sometime he makes some stupid things which costs him a lot. Schumacher said once that seb is the only driver on the grid who deserves to break his records. Since then time has change a lot and i dont say Hamilton dont deserve what he has reached but i think it could have been a bit less and more wins/ another wc title for seb because i think seb would beat him in the Mercedes. huch didnt want to write that much i ...hope my english wasnt too bad so you can Understand....

I remember watching this season as it happened. I've been a Mclaren fan then a Lewis fan as a result. I have been and will be a Lewis fan when he is in the car as a Fomula 1 driver. I don't follow his social media and yeah... He's who I cheer for because of his driving, that's it. I also really liked Vettel simply because he was a very good driver and I REALLY wanted him to win a WDC at Ferrari. Even humble in defeat! That may have had an impact on Vettel. Vettel's interviews are always my favorite. You don't win 4 WDCs without having skill and I think that's where the respect between them came from. The 2018 German GP at Hockenheim, was the actual V in "Silver V RED". This is an amazing edit and does have me excited to watch. It makes appreciate this era more. I see you have more Videos so I'm going to give them a watch as well. Great work! (BTW this is the first video of yours I have watched. Idk if you'd added that to you new videos or not. LOL) I know modern era cars do not look nearly as good as past iterations BUT I do honestly like the looks of the 2018 cars. Compared to how they look half way through 2023..They 2018s reminded me of the late 80s early 90s cars in the sense that the suspension sticks out further (Albeit beefier nowadays). Rear tires are noticeably larger than the fronts. Body shape of the car is slim for what they are now. I do have one recommendation. If you could add the lap on screen in conjuction with the position, I think that would be helpful. good

As much as the blame is on Vettel, I think Ferrari's disastrous Quali strategy lead to Vettel's first lap desparation move.

This guy here ,the creator off this stuff ,need to teach big industries how a documentary is made
I don't like how some fans try to discredit lewis by saying he had no competition during his reign but I feel like that's even more disrespect to how good Vettel was here
what i hate the most is that now with Max on top all the time win everything ppl start to compare to Lewis's domination.
I just realised that people hate on Valtteri for being a second player but Kimi did the same thing for 4 years lol
It's so true. And they are both great guys, quiet Fins. I think people just have far more hate for Hamilton. So they always say that its the car, and they diminish Bottas more to try and minimise how good Hamilton is.
Valtteri got unlucky so the team just back Lewis to beat Ferrari, they can;t afford to let them fight like Nico and lose all the points ha
Man, 2018 feels like it was just a couple months ago. Still can’t believe it’s been 3 years?!

Wins aren't going to come this year, but if he can get into the top six or eight consistently, I think they'd call that a successful season.
Keep hoping. Seb has completely lost his form and confidence.
Your hope is legit, but I really think his time as an f1 star is long over. I just can't stand all those hypocrites who kept bashing Ferrari and being compassionate at him, his performance last year was appalling, orrendous.

@@Cal3000 ferrari was horrible in singapore, japan, russia
The Ferrari was the fastest car in Singapore, matched only by the Red Bull’s. That should’ve been the race where Seb closed the championship lead. It’s just that Hamilton massively outperformed his car and took a pole that should’ve never been his at a track that favored track position.
Lewis would've won the championship even in that Ferrari. The driver made the difference in this championship.

Those who say that Mercedes were dominant in 2018 need to buy new brain and a functioning pair of glasses.
I suggest you buy a new brain and a functioning set of glasses yourself.

This is a perfekt edit, thanks for that
then your not a Vettel Fan couse its just not true.

LOL)
I know modern era cars do not look nearly as good as past iterations BUT I do honestly like the looks of the 2018 cars.
If you could add the lap on screen in conjuction with the position, I think that would be helpful. good
