Today I take out the 2023 Peugeot 208 GT. The build quality on this little french hot hatch puts most german manufacturers to shame.

I got this as my first car a few weeks ago, and I love it! Really all you need! When I’ll get older and more experienced probably I would look towards something else, but as a 22 yr old with his first car, it will be all I need for quite some time!
Glad you agree! Most first time drivers now lease a car rather than buy one for sun £2k! Hope you enjoy! It’s a fantastic car in my opinion
@@TomShorrock yeah. Cuz those 2k cars can really be hit or miss and you don’t want the headache of standing on the shoulder for 1.5-2 hours waiting for services.
I actually prefer to buy a cheap car for a first car, however the worlds changed, insurance is cheaper on newer cars, more incentives for EVs and £150-£200 a month isn’t considered a lot nowadays 😬
Best First car? It's not a smart car or twingo you know, and the price is around £20k!! It's a grown up sophisticated super mini or segmant B medium sized car.🎉
Your forgetting that 90% of cars on the road are now leased or financed, so it’s very affordable
I got this as my first car, it’s absolutely amazing smooth drive and just perfect.
Agreed! Good choice
I rented one of these in Bulgaria last year. First time driving a Peugeot and I was blown away by how good it was. Wish they were available in the US.
The quality is unreal!
I've actaully just bought a 2021 gt line as my first car after seeing your review. Absolutely beautiful car. Brilliant review, thank you 😊 subscribed.
Hi Kelly, that is fantastic news! I wish you happy motoring, Thankyou for letting me know I helped you make a decision on your purchase, I wish I could say I receive commission but I don’t, I simply make these videos to help others and for enjoyment. Thank-you for the subscription, I really appreciate it.
Still have the car??
Good review Tom 👍.. ive liked the shape since it came out!. But I must say same as you on the colour it really pops out. Lovely interior too.. Aviation switches begs me to ask how's the flying going you had the chance being a busy lad!..
Hi Richard! Thanks for giving this a watch and taking the time to comment!
The flying sadly had to go on pause since life became so expensive… maybe when I win the lottery I’ll pick it up again
Driving it now in Sardinia. What a beast.
Awesome!
i wont lie. my test is not too far away and for a first car there is no way im paying that amount of money. it might be the best but a cheap run around in case you knock it or kerb it going through the countryside is all you need. id like to see your take on sub £3000 cars for new drivers
as i feel like thats a more realistic budget!!
Hi Brad, totally understand where your coming from, my first car was around £4K however the majority of people finance cars these days so you could pick one of these up for around £200 per month with for the quality of the car is a bargain compared to what’s on the market
I bouth the ev version last week and cant wait to finaly have it home next week i instantly fell in love with it at the test drive :)
Great choice!
Off to order one in 2 days ❤ This review completely cemented it at top spot, thank you!
No problem glad I could help
I’m currently learning to drive and this is my learner car.. also manual. it’s so comfy! And I haven’t bumped it on a lesson yet 😂
Drove one of these today, if you want one go for the GT130. They’re great little cars and better than what I expected but wasn’t enough for me to sell the ST 😂
💪🏻
I have just a two year old petrol 208 a lovely car.Yet the 3 cylinder 1200 cc engine which has wet timing belt needs a regular service as it can be troublesome if not serviced regularly.according online forums their have been call a few call backs a few years ago 🤔 ? yet the car is a stunning looking thing with that French flare .
I love Peugeot... i wish we got them in the US
I am waiting for my new Peugeot to be ordered, I am interested is the 3D cockpit come as standard or would it be something I add as an extra?
May depend on the market. In some countries I believe it comes standard in the GT Line, maybe also in whatever the AT middle version is. Where I live I don't think it comes standard with the base model.
I think it comes as standard
Top video again Tom lad 👍 Top-gear missing a track presenter wise mate ….
Wow! That’s is certainly some statement! Thankyou! #DreamJob
I'm not tall but found very little space for left foot coming off the clutch by the rest
Yeh it is a little tight
Why does it have the old logo ?
Nice review Tom, it’s a oui from me 😊👍
Thankyou you Jimbo!
I do like this new 208 GT, i hope Peugeot release the petrol version in Australia ? I have owned 5 Peugeot's since 1972, they are a very nice safe touring car for Australian conditions, with wonderful handling on winding roads, Please Peugeot, a petrol version for Australia 👍 Au
It’s a fantastic car
Does it have the problems of previous generations? These cars break down easly as I heard, I dont want to spend my money on garages every two months.. so is it reliable ?
i had a previus model 208 for 3 years and now i have this one for a little over a year now....but i have the smaller engine of 75HP...i had no problems so far..
I'm 32 with well-paid job and can't afford one of these, not even close. Leasing is the only option, but that'd take half of my monthly salary for 4-6 years and I have to pay bills, to eat and date my girlfriend. Would be lovely to be born somewhere in Western Europe.
At the time of this video they were £199 per month, now they are rather expensive. Remember shop the deal rather than the type of car 💪🏻
Well you can find a rich woman
Nice review of the Peugeot 208GT. Better than my first car as that was a burgundy, S reg Vauxhall Chevette. Some of your younger viewers will have to Google what that was. 😂
Thankyou! The Vauxhall Chevettes are beautiful! I love one today
@@TomShorrock I loved mine back in the day. So much so being in the sign industry I painted pinstripes down the sides and finished them in gold leaf. Plus painted a bugs bunny and road runner “Beep beep” on either rear side windows.
100hp? Do they offer a model with more than this? On Us highways, this wouldn't survive with such low horsepower. I had an old Honda Civic hybrid with a few more than this, and it was always dangerous getting off four lane freeways, merging, or passing. Even with the tiny weight of the car. I would be scared on the highway with such little power. I now have 170hp with a small Volvo V50 and even that sometimes barely gets me through difficult merges on major freeways. 220 would be my ideal for total peace of mind. My next car will probably be the same small Volvo with a turbo.
130hp max available on this car
Are you serious? You can downshift blipping the throttle and just engage for more response without losing speed, never had a problem in the highway.
What is the 0-60mph?@@PicmipPixel
it's a smaller weight car... it's gonna be faster
Yes they do mate, think they offer a 130bhp
I thought this engine makes 130HP not 100HP.
They do offer a 130bhp one however this model is 100bhp
@@TomShorrock thanks for clearing that up! Great review.
Used old car is so better for new driver. 20k for crashing a first car is too expensive 😂
They are but, most people want reliability nowadays
😂 not every new driver crashes 😂
People don’t always want an old banger for their first car
@@morgannacorvus9623 may be not crash but scratchs are likely
Can’t believe you can get them in manual!!!
Yup!
Gizago
Too fast for you
17 and rich daddy 😂
Not necessarily mate, could have a well paid apprenticeship and get one on lease…
..
Every first car gets either wrote off through a hedge, or into the back of another car, £3,000 is as said more realistic, Peugeots last decent car was the 306 hdi
Hi Harvey! I agree to a certain extent, my first car east around £4K but nowadays these youngster end up leasing from the off because they want to “maintain image” so this car is fantastic for that
'Every first car'? Some do (as do some 2nd, 3rd, 4th cars) but many don't and are either resold, part-exchanged or returned at the end of lease - a few even stay with their owners for decades.
I have owned Five Peugot's since 1972 with my favorites being a 405 Mi16 and a 306 GTi 6 both were amazing responsive cars, also my 504 a 306 XSi and 307 XSi 👍 Au
P R O M O S M 🤪
Good luck new drivers, let us know what your quotes are 🤣🤣🤣🤣
They probably never will now but they should have done a GTi version without that 💩 prince engine in it. It's a great looking car!
You’d be surprised because it has anti collision it brings the insurance down.
