Thanks for the video, spot on explanation of zone valve and it's wiring. Quick question. I have an UFH manifold, single zone without actuators. Can I run the circulation pump from the thermostat switched live output so that the pump runs up at same time the UFH zone valve opens? There's no need for an expensive wiring centre then, less things to go wrong
This is great video and what I was looking for. 11:58 in the video and please check my understanding: so I have 2 zones. ground floor and first floor both controlled by thermostat. Heating is constantly on and when temp is not the desired one it will send signal and boiler kicks in and starts heating the zone it needs. First floor heating stopped working and I did move this lever to manual and it was giving proper resistance when moving. Now the first floor heating works when ground floor heating kicks in. And if what you say at 11:58 is applied to my scenario it is still faulty valve right? As valve is giving signal for boiler to kick in, not thermostat. Am I correct?
Hi. Alan. Thank you for good video. Could you please make video to show how to do s plan and y plan wiring and if possible then fault finding as well. Thank you

dave diy hi Allen can i put a zone valve next to my cylinder connected to my cylinder stat and a fused spar to control how hot my tank gets without wire-ring direct to my boiler which is in another room
Good video and description , thank you. I'm increasingly thinking that the 2 port valve on the flow (from the boiler) on my unvented cylinder is permanently open and is being held that way by a connection from the immersion heater element. I think this is causing high heat loss - the valve is always hot and noting that the syncro motor only comsumes 5W (if I read the spec correctly) the heat is either conduction along the pipe from the cylinder or gravity circulation through the valve and along the heating loop. The question is...I don''t think i missed it in the video but how should the immersion affect the valve. (Re microswitch question...my understanding is that this is what allows the boiler to fire ...is only when the valve is fully open can the boiler start so that the flow is unobstructed beforehand. ) VMT J.

Hi Allen, hope you can help me with this question. I have 3 zones (2 heats and 1 hot water) why my water pump keeps running when there is no demand please? Thanks in advance
Can I use actuators on a floor heating collector to close off zones? I'd feed each room with 1 pipeline and have rads in the rooms instead of floor heating. Each room would have it's own thermostat to regulate the actuator. Or is something wrong with using it this way? Happy New years! Zone Valve
@@AllenHart999 yes that's what I was talking about, a manifold! Sorry didn't know the word in english. Is there something wrong with using a manifold and connect that with radiators?
It would work but the response time is not too great so you might find the bypass has warmed up and the boiler has cut out by the time the actuator has opened. You might need actuators with an open-switch so you can activate the boiler when one or more has opened. Either that or a delay start for the boiler.
@@AllenHart999 - I have just subbed and incidentally since also learned how to drain down the system. Namely shut off system mains supply, drain down from suitable point below the lowest zone valves to be removed and opened bleed valve above drain point. I kept the drained water into a container and put it back thus retaining de-rust solution ratio and de-oxygenated water.
Can you add a zone valve for a hot water cylinder (coil) on a combi boiler? I’m thinking of adding two zone valves for heating areas and a separate one for heating an external tank (for a more powerful shower with a pump) as our incoming water pressure is rubbish.
Happy New year. Here in Russia we use something like a wax motor for that. Or a solenoid valve. Rarely it will be a 3 port servo valve. In my house I have a Viesmann Vitomax 100-LW M148/8 furnace and heating is handled by a Danfoss ECL201 control unit paired with a Danfoss ECA30 on the floor. The valve is a Danfoss servo valve. The rest of automation is using a ОВЕН ПЛК110.М2 PLC and a ОВЕН СПЕ310 touchscreen operator panel This is the setup in my house

Excellent mate ❤️❤️❤️
Should the indicator light on valve stay on the entire time heating is on or does it go off once set temp has been reached? Thanks
If there wasn't 240volts on grey/orange would that mean that the actuator head would Neen replacing ?
Can I use actuators on a floor heating collector to close off zones? I'd feed each room with 1 pipeline and have rads in the rooms instead of floor heating. Each room would have it's own thermostat to regulate the actuator. Or is something wrong with using it this way?
Happy New years! Zone Valve
Not really sure what you mean but if it’s underfloor heating you will be better with a manifold. Thanks.

Can they pull air into system
If faulty ?
It would help to show the method to drain system in order to remove two way zone valve.

Amazing
Thanks
Can you add a zone valve for a hot water cylinder (coil) on a combi boiler? I’m thinking of adding two zone valves for heating areas and a separate one for heating an external tank (for a more powerful shower with a pump) as our incoming water pressure is rubbish.
Yes, Absolutely. I have done loads of systems like that. 👍

You should consider a cold water mains accumulator cylinder that will give excellent pressure - assuming you have a decent _static_ water pressure.
The rest of automation is using a ОВЕН ПЛК110.М2 PLC and a ОВЕН СПЕ310 touchscreen operator panel
This is the setup in my house

Allen so when you move the manual lever on the two port valve you’re always manually opening the valve, correct?
Yes that's correct. Thank you, Happy new year
Allen Hart I had one the other day allen that had no resistance as I opened it. Loose it was. What did they mean?

What about some air/ground source related vids Alan?
They would be good. I am working on it. Thanks.

What holds the valve open ? Is the motor still under pressure
The motor, Once the power, is off to it then the spring closes it.

Coffee, white, no sugar. TYVM.
Have you ever seen a standard, 1 part (non dividable) WC syphonic flush valve with an gradual AAV on it?
PS zone valve.
@@loafersheffield Ha ha don’t forget the Zone valve 😂😂😂👍
@@loafersheffield Happy new year and thanks for watching
@Allen Hart You're welcome n HNY back atchas!
A bog flush syphon with an air admittance valve attached to the top. Just plain weird.
@@loafersheffield I don’t do bogs lol
cheers thank you👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Amazing ❤
Help
Got an ideal logic combi
Losing pressure 4 times a day no visible signs of a leak all down stairs rads on drops so should see if there was a leak
Expansion vessel also fine and no discharge from prv what on Earth could this be

Ideal spoke me through this And it the heat exchanger.
Suppose that’s the difference between a house basher and a break down engineer I can chuck heatings in all day for fun really could do we spending more time on repairs to get that knowledge up 👍
