The "William Burroughs" to who Stephen King inscribed THE SRTAND is probably the Beat author. Thus, that copy is not only a signed first edition, but an association copy to anther celebrated author.

If it's the one and only, William Burroughs, author of, Naked Lunch, there's no need to wonder why the seller is asking 6k. Besides, Kerouac and Ginsburg, to name just two of an amazing list of Beat Generation writers, Burroughs was and still is one of the favorites. Naked Lunch, and Junkie, besides other works are his best novels. He's also known for killing his wife by "accident." And a known bisexual.

Hi Katie, Weird Tales was a famous "Pulp" magazine where a lot of horror and Sci-fi writers had their start. Really enjoying your informative videos, thanks, Randy.

A presentation copy is usually like a special edition where it was printed specifically for giving as a gift or to "present" to a patron. It is usually in a larger print format, e.g. folio, rather than the general print run for public purchase.

Does that mean presentation copies are usually worth more then?

This was a great video. I don't scan, but I do look up on eBay or Google lens. I also listen to people like you and go out there searching for that treasure. My two best finds were an abstract art book for $20 and sold for over $500 and a signed Arnold Schwarzenegger book I bought for $75 and sold for $600. I would be great to find one of these out in the wild.

I super love this video. These are my favorite type of books to look for at estate sales because the "scanners" never look at these. I have had several books sell for thousands of dollars that I found and paid just a couple of dollars for. Like you said, "people don't know everything ". Thanks Katey ❤️‍🔥👩‍🌾

Hey Katey, I am a new reseller in 2024. My questions is when someone searches on eBay, does the algorithm search the title only or the description only or both or what? I really appreciate your help!

Hey Melissa! eBay looks at title, description, item specifics item category and item identifiers. Essentially fill out specifics as well as you can and use good keywords in the title. Descriptions don’t make a huge difference for me or in my research I’ve found. Hope that helps.

Katey, Can you let me know how to show only sold items? I followed your initial steps but I can't see your filters to exclude items that are currently unsold. I wish to see only sold items with the green line through the price like you have on the screen.
I'm a recently retired man and selling off my forty-year collection of technical (mathematics), theological, and rare books collection. I started eBaying books only three weeks ago and I'm selling fast. I make trips to the post office 1-3 times a day. This week I sold Road to Serfdom at a HUGE profit. I own 12,000 (lbs) of books so I'm going to be busy for a while. Once everything is sold I won't know what to do with all the empty space.

Wow I am so happy for you! How exciting! So when you type in the book name, the filters let you click “completed and sold” so you can see the books that have been selling. How often and at what price point. Then when you are done viewing that information just UNCLICK completed and sold and you should be able to see all books currently available for sale so you can calculate a good sell through rate ratio to get an idea of how long it’ll take to sell. I hope that helps and didn’t make it more confusing.
