- The 1960's was a good decade for Lincoln Penny Varieties, with a number of coins worth good money as well. 1960 saw large and small date designs and a multitude of Doubled dies and re-punched mint mark varieties throughout the years. From 1960, 1963, 1964, 1966 and 1968 all saw numerous valuable variety coins. All ending with the very rere1969 S doubled die Lincoln penny coin.

I commuted to NYC for many
years, and it was in a very old
pocketbook.
The pocketbook is going to goodwill,
and I am sending the penny to
a grader.
It was in circulation until it reached my
bag.
It is not red, but is in decent shape, and
very brown

A year ago, i keep my Pennies and old coins in my cabinet, big typhoon come, flood comes up into our house, i think my pennies are lossing, i seen them mix in mud. But i found all.i washed them and keep it again. Nowthe time come, a big surprise for me i seen in the world numismatic show and recorded all the prize, to look upon all my pennies and a Quarterly, am so lucky some are winning!! Thank's lord

I have coins that look just like these doubled but when i upload them to coin comnunity i always get told "machine die deterioration". Is that not an error too?
Strike doubling or "machine doubling" is very different from a true doubled die. I realize that it can be confusing for beginners especially, but strike doubling is a form of damage and not a design defect. Die deterioration is similar but can take on different forms. True doubling happens during the hubbing process and not during the minting process itself. There is something unique about the working die that is used to strike the coin. Error coins is a different classification altogether also and usually needs to be quite a serious error for the coin to be worth a lot. Hope this helps.

In that case the no mint mark indicates that the coin was struck at the Philadelphia mint.

Hey, I'm an Indonesia Chinese who have plenty of Lincoln coins as I used to be a collector. There are 214 pcs of Lincoln coins + 2 Washington quarters with a different varieties of years, from 199_, 1945 to 2001. Do you have any good recommendation where to sell other than PCGS? Please?

Well first off. Congrats on the first comment on this video! The coin's value will be largely determined by it's grade. Having it in a slab acts as a mark of confidence to a buyer, which is why they tend to sell for more. A coin in a higher grade will be worth more than a beat up coin in a lower grade.

I found a 1961 and 1963 D one has another imprint by Monticello. The 63 has a 3 rd post tipped on the steps of Monticello . Thankyou for your informative video.

I have a flawless 1969 S with no flaws.look like its almost new
Being offered is one of the rarest ( perhaps THE rarest) pennies I have ever encountered.
First, you will note when zooming in that Lincoln’s mouth is agape ( open). Never in the millions of pennies that I and my collector friends have seen has there ever been
An open-mouthed Lincoln. It’s dated 1969 with the large 6 ABOVE the two large 9s. But even more unusual below the 1969 date in thick black ink stained residue is the is the date 1980!
On the penny’s rim below the Ink stained O is another small stain.
To the left of Lincoln near the rim are multiple small ink stains and if you will study the R in LIBERTY you will note multiple ink stained residue on the top and bottom of the R
AND the bottom of the E. ( just like this period. )
On the reverse, you will note there is a DDR ( Double Die) on UNITED of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
I would grade the condition as Extra Fine +.

Very true, but it is an exceedingly rare variety. I think there are only 4 coins in population report. And no traceable pricing data to speak of either. So it was a tough call, but chose to include another coin instead.
