Don't go by the sticker on the door. Go by the tire on the vehicle. The number on the sticker is only for the stock tires put on by the manufacturer. If you've ever changed tires from stock then the number on the door means nothing.

@@eloquent-nuance - you bring up a very good point about the pressure marked on tires as being the MAXIMUM.
I have a Jeep that doesn't have the stock sized tires anymore. I still have to keep the pressure close to the stock range or my low tire pressure lights keep going off. Maybe this is the "light" they are talking about.

I wouldn’t necessarily agree with this 100% lol what is a “stock” tire. If a tire is made for a certain vehicle than your going to use the same PSI with 3 lbs above or under.

The psi is put on the door for the VEHICLE not the tires lol. That's what the vehicle needs to operate correctly.

Should’ve added it cost a few cents to inflate a tire but hundreds to replace one from a blow out on the highway or ice

Check the AGE of tires too! Look for a set of 4 numbers inside an oval ring. First two numbers are the week they were made and the last two numbers are the year. If your tires are older than 6 years, be cautious. If more than 10yrs, replace asap.
