    Great looking bike. I'd buy one. The styling is really nice, reminds me of the Trident. Yamaha XSRs could learn something

    Fantastic review thank you .. ive just reviewed a zontes T2 310 . A Great bike. I can say with experience once you go one tooth bigger on the front sprocket it transforms the ride . Drops the revs by around 500rmp at motorway speeds and makes tge whole gearing not so short ..

    Having watched your reviews I have considered Chinese bikes, was thinking of a benelli trk 502xor the moto x but after looking into it more I would suggest if anyone is thinking of buying one new that's maybe not so bad but definitely second hand you should check availability on service parts and spares. You may have to order from websites that if they do have the items could take months to arrive and when they arrive may not be correct for your model. Something to think about when thinking you are getting value for money

    Liked the 125cc version, this one looks even better especially with the extra cc.
    Great, detailed review as always. Love it!

    Hi Mark, thorough review as always and very helpful to include the ergonomics for riders of similar stature to yourself.. thanks. Its a nice bike no doubt . As a 350cc single cylinder at £4599 on the road UK, the Zontes will likely compete with a BMW G310R £4970 and the "new" Honda CB300R £5099. I don`t think you`ve ever tested either. My point being that BMW and Honda are established brands with huge service back up . As much as I like the look of the GK and the performance, a mere £500 differential isn`t likely to persuade me to buy a Zontes before an unbreakable Honda. The Zontes 125cc range undercut the Japanese manufacturers by £1K , I think Zontes should have priced the GK at £4K.

      Not forgetting CFMOTOs 300NK (£3499) and 300SR (£4199). 0% 2-year finance, and 4 years warranty. I'm happy there is so much choice in this segment now.

      I used to own a G310 and it was a nice bike, I did a fair few miles on it during lockdown and, on the whole, enjoyed it. BUT... and it's a big "BUT". Those bikes tend to stall quite easily if you don't give them enough revs when pulling away.

    • @derekcook7667
      @derekcook7667 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CosmikDebriis Thanks for that input. Good to know. BMW have addressed the stalling issue with the 2021/22 model by an idle speed control, ride by wire and span adjustable levers.

    Well I went over to Poole Moto today for a test ride. In fact I'm pretty sure I was the next person to ride it after you.
    In your reviews you mentioned something that really got me thinking. You suggested the bike was more comfortable than its rivals so, as the owner of one of those apparent rivals, a Kawasaki Z400, I can most certainly concur, The little Z is fine for about an hour in the saddle but, after that, it gets really uncomfortable. I rode the GK for two or three hours and was perfectly comfortable.
    So... is it possible to get the same amount of "fun" that you get with the Z from the GK?
    The short answer is no. The Kawasaki is a much more engaging ride. For those of us of a certain age. It reminds me of the old Yamaha Rd350's from my youth. Ultimately not that fast but serious fun in getting there.
    Having said that though, the Zontes is no slouch and will pull 70mph with ease. Much more than that though and I've a feeling you'd be running out of steam quite quickly (it was a new bike so I couldn't really push it).
    It would make for an interesting test but I'd suggest the Kawasaki would leave the Zontes for dead from the traffic lights but single cylinder bikes can be deceiving. I did appreciate the mid range torque of the GK though and she handled better than I'd expected. Brakes were pretty much on a par though I did find the ABS on the rear obtrusive. It's a difficult comparison though as I ride the Z much "harder" than I rode the GK. Bothe perfectly acceptable though.
    Couple of things I didn't really like about the Zontes. Firstly... Vibration. Okay so it's a single and vibration is inherent in the system but, compared to the twin cylinder Kawasaki, the Zontes is quite "vibey" especially in the mirrors (I think you were being a bit kind there) and, weirdly, on my left leg from the petrol tank.
    The other thing would be the automatic steering lock. Perhaps you'd get used to it but, I've a feeling, before you did, it would end up on the floor when you unexpectedly pushed it away with the lock on.
    So... Would I swap the adrenaline rush of the Kawasaki for the ability to ride further and for longer on the Zontes? The hooligan in me says no but wanting to keep my license, stay alive and maybe able to go on longer trips when I want to, say yes. I would miss the Kawasaki though.
    Just my two hapeth' and as a comparison between two "similar" bikes. Someone with a KTM 390 needs to do much the same as they are probably more closely related.

      @markpulling12  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Dave ...I have a 390 Duke and it's uncomfortable after about an hour but the engine is pokier at the top end but the zontes is a much better all rounder

    Hi Mark, took your advice andI tried this the other day. Very impressed. Definitely on the shortlist, but I felt the price needed a bit of adjustment downwards, and local dealers were unwilling to do a realistic deal - wanted top dollar, so still looking. A fine finishing review. I'm intrigued with this bike. I think comparing it to its predecessor performance could be identical. I wonder how long they will make these. This in no way affects my opinion of zontes. Definately a serious contender from China. Watch zontes carefully. I predict that soon they will become a household named brand.

    Looks great. I wonder what durability will be like re fasteners rust etc? Previously, I was torn between KTM 390 Duke and Royal Enfield Classic. This has added another excellent choice - but without any heritage I guess. What would you choose if you were buying one for yourself?

      After owning the zontes g1 which was a fantastic little machine, I can say they are super comfy but some crossover points I can add for long term ownership is that the paint can be very soft and thin making it easy to scratch along with the wheels, where the spokes meet the rim it is common for the paint to bubble, all this in 6 months of ownership from new.

    • @SonOfDrogo
      @SonOfDrogo ปีที่แล้ว

      How are you torn between the Duke and Classic? People buy the Classic for its look, and there's nothing reliable in the market that has the Classic's design. Duke is a great motorcycle, but if you want that classic design, you don't really have a choice but to go for the RE.

    I like the look of these.
    But there seems a lot to go wrong tech wise.
    The screen must be £500-£600?
    If keyless goes wrong or push button fuel cap, how do you go on.
    The lack of tech is what draws me to Royal Enfields.
    If they came with a 4 year warranty id be tempted but with only two i just couldn't take the gamble. I'm sure mechanically they are great.

    Too expensive and too heavy. For a chinese made bike £4000 would be about right. 188kg is far too heavy even though as you say on the move it does not feel it. Needs to be around 150-160kg max. Also loose that shroud on the brake and the ones in front of the engine, makes it look a bit 'blocky' and not sleek light a light weight should. Would i buy it over the BMW or Honda cb300, no, not until they have been around a while to see for durability and reliability. A good review though Mark as always.

    Hi Mark matey 👍 it's mark from the Wirral Merseyside 👍. I have a question for you which motorcycle would you go for the zontes GK 350 or the KTM Duke 370 if you wanted to have a smaller motorcycle to get you from home and work and using the motorway which i us the motorway every day to go from my house and to work which is about 12 miles away.. but I've got AM and A on my driving licence and i just want to get back into motorcycling again. But I've been watching your TH-cam videos on different motorcycles and i just love the naked style motorcycles from around 350cc upto say 690cc I've been watching your video on the 600cc range like Kawasaki z650rs KTM Duke 690 etc etc and i just hope that you can do a review on the Suzuki sv650 because i just love that bike and the Kawasaki g650 and KTM Duke 690 the most to use on nice weather for work and casual riding at weekends.
    But if you had to pick between the zontes GK 350 or the KTM Duke 370 which bike would you go for to be totally honest with you... And also do zontes do any 600cc motorcycles because i love the 600cc range of motorcycles really. But I'm looking for a motorcycle ready for next year around spring and summer months. Which motorcycle would you go for zontes GK 350 or KTM Duke 370 even though they are very good motorcycles to use for work and casual riding like days out etc which bike would you pick really 👍👍👍 before i get myself a 600cc range of motorcycles. Hope to hear from you soon thanks from mark from the Wirral Merseyside 👍👍 do zontes do any 600cc bikes naked style because i prefer the naked look motorcycles to be totally honest with you. And were i work there is a KTM motorcycle dealer in with Harley Davidson and BMW motorcycles. And were i live on the Wirral there is a zontes dealer which is about 3 miles away from my house. But I'm serious about getting the zontes GK 350 as soon as possible, because I've been watching your TH-cam video on the zontes GK 350 quite alot and i really enjoyed watching your TH-cam videos on the naked motorcycles. I agree bill but I think it's all relative
      Ie a £20 k BMW motorcycle will probably go for £16 k after a few years ?? I'm guessing here
      This zontes may go for £2 k after a few years so not really something I'd worry about but I do get it
      Cheers mark

    The big four might be Japanese names but they are all made in China nowadays.

    You are talking out of your rear compared to the big Japanese or such A’s bmw, the steel alloys and other materials are of a lower by far standard. Sure one week on a new bike says nothing, it’s meaningless. Come back in three years and say the same. It’s lovely to look at and ride now. Oh and see how much you get for it in three years. It’s no good me saying anymore your in their pocket. Oh and I’m 63 years old and started riding in 1976 always having a bike of sorts. Commuters mainly till my late 30s then bigger sports, tourers,and adventure, with big single off readers for fun.

      And you are basing your facts on what? Chinese bikes of 4yrs ago most likely.
      Maybe you have sour grapes because you bought wrong...

      quality of the main stream bikes have gone down since 2014 ive had 2 new hondas NC750s & CBR650 both had corrision issues - the NC had 3 recalls speedo and 2 others i cant rememer - had to have frame replaced on the CBR650 - 2 Yamahas MT07 2018 corrosion on swing arm and cooling pipes had pipes replaced before bike was stollen the swingarm would of had to be replaced - a MT03 660cc in showroom condition as soon as i started to ride coorison beded in - on both makes the banjos started to corrode and surface rust within weeks - told to ACF50 to keep corrison off as riding bike on the road in all weathers - back in the days 80's bikes just washing and a occasion wax was enough to keep in good condition - i think Honda quality has gone out of the window now as they use to be known for quality now they arent as good - now since my 2nd yamaha has been stolen the chinese ones are worth a look
