'59 Fords have always had a special place with me. It's one of the first cars I remember riding in as a little kid. My dad's friend had one and we used to go fishing in it.
My co-worker Jack Forbes had a brand new one in 1959 and let take it to do errands while my own car was getting a new front fender and wheel, drum, brakes, etc, What a nice driving car it was compared to my late 40's car.
I'm a car NUT and the 59 Galaxie Hardtops are at the very top of my list. I don't remember them having amber parking lights in the front. Maybe it was something that you could order them aftermarket.
I agree. They'd just already manufactured the bodies with "Fairlane 500" emblazoned on them, and rather than removing it, they added the "Galaxie" logo to what they already had. (I have one -- it's a 'Fairlane 500 Galaxie Club Victoria', but it's really just a "Galaxie".
This automobile is absolutely beautiful. Ford motor company puts it on wheels!

When you went fishing in it how did you stop it from sinking
@@ArminBauerle Loaded it onto a raft and paddled out the windows.

I love all the cars built in that era, but the 59 sure was a beauty. If I had the finances, I love to give it a home!

It came with clear parking lights.
Yes, NO clear parking lights in front, not amber on cars until 1963 on ALL cars.
❤❤❤
Ford never publicly referred to it as "Fairlane 500 Galaxie", just Galaxie. Check out some period advertising of you don't believe me
