I have no idea why people are saying it's overrated but I certainly enjoyed the movie.
Yep the movie was a classic.
It's a very relevant and poignant story many black kids and their families go through when an athlete shops scholarships.
Movie is a classic. Great actors, great plot... everything about the movie is great. People just have there own opinion.
Hell I still own the movie on DVD, it's one of my favorite spike lee joints
Lol I think people refer to Ray Allen’s acting skills at that time but I remember the day I first saw He Got Game, it is most certainly a Classic.

Wow…props to all three of them: Denzel authentically went off script, Ray went with the flow and didn’t break character, Spike kept the film rolling and didn’t interrupt the moment. Perfect execution, classic scene!

The nineties were the final era of TRUE TALENT in my opinion.... We had Tupac Michael Jordan Biggie Michael Jackson Kobe Fresh Prince and this list goes on and on an on ..
It'll be great to see Jake and Jesus Shuttlesworth again!!!! I'm a REALLY huge fan of He Got Game, which was, and always will be a very powerful late 90's movie!!!! I was only 10 years of age when this came out, and now on the verge of turning 34, still loving this masterpiece!!!!🏀

That scene was perfect. My dad and I had a similar situation but on the baseball field. Every father son relationship that also participates in sports will have those moments. Best life lessons are taught between the lines ⚾️🏈🏀

I think this is even more reason that he didn’t. It was too easy to cast him. Honestly I don’t see anyone else playing this role except maybe Kobe cause he was so unknown at the time. Just like Ray Allen

I guess I watched it giving Ray a pass, and just appreciated a basketball movie with Denzel in it. Definitely not most overrated movie, I think that’s a bridge too far.
