Looks like Caro will be in his 80s by the time he finishes the LBJ biography. Let's all hope he (and his wife Ina) stay healthy long enough to maintain his unparalleled quality of work
I so much appreciate this author. I am learning about mindfulness just via how he is and his life journey and how he researches and writes. I wish I have time to read his books as I am sure I will learn so much in depth.
Unique personality. Doesn't seem like an aggressive, hateful person. Yet what strength it takes to write books as he does. He must have a great deal of "power" deep inside of him, since he understands Johnson so well.
Much respect to this man's passion. He's probably gutted by the possibility that we may end up with a veep who is salivating at the thought at erasing part of LBJ's legacy.
A quick google search shows that his son Chase was sentenced to between 3 to 7 years in prison for stealing nearly a million dollars from his clients. Damn shame.
Specificity. Specificity rules like the epiphanic campaign ledger of "powerbroker" money LBJ parcels out to congressmen. Another inimitable Caro interview.
To the contrary, medicare is the best thing to happen to the elderly- it used to mean no health care and suffering in the elderly- before. Voting rights act, civil rights act for the poor meant real political power, Indian bill of rights and the list goes on. You haven't any idea of what you write, just enter anything without qualification as long as it is an opinion. Only the downtrodden knew and still remember what this has done for them. LBJ was amazing, the uber-politician.
Dedicated his life to small details? Those laws that were passed during the Great Scciety times were among the greatset pieces of legislation to pass in the history of this country,
"Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated," Caro could well say, if he chose to borrow from Mark Twain. Two posts in this comments section report him as dead!!!! He is not. As of this writing (12/31/22) Caro is 87 and very much alive.
Incredible dedication to his craft. Masterful.
These volumes(3) are not only the greatest political histories I have ever read
these are the best books I have ever read!
Book Five! Book Five! Book Five! I can't wait.
Seven years later... :) I can't wait, either.
More anticipated than Winds of Winter for me

A beautiful human being.
Aaron Laflin Yes in deed...well said!
what a wonderful man.

I don't require additional volumes. I'm satisfied. If I finish what he's written now before I die, I'll be happy.
but he still has to publish the final part of the LBJ biography. you dont wanna miss that, dont you?? :)
Great interview!
I will be relieved the moment book four hits the book stores.
I have withdrawal symptoms waiting for books five and six.

What world do you live in? As of December of 2022, Caro is 87 and very much alive.
It’s 2024 and he’s still with us. Probably still researching LBJ.
This guy's a terrible interviewer, one of the worst I've seen, but Caro's story telling is as good as ever.
Brian Lamb is one of the best interviewers ever!!!
Week I guess you can watch “The View” or “Entertainment Tonight” for some hard hitting interviews! lol.
