The bad part is that the water test trick works on the marketing representative because they don't know better. it helps them sell the product that they also believe works. many distributors for other products are tricked into believing in the product or service as well. they regurgitate what they learn and think they are helping people. doesn't mean it's right. just saying: the blind leading the blind.

I had a similar experience. I do saltwater aquariums as a hobby and I have a 5 stage RODI filter. I called him out on the minerals test saying that his drops dont measure the mineral level, but instead chemically separate and coagulate them. I then put my water through my Hanna and Apex testing probes and the water came out very very clean for tap water (even a TDS reading of 23 ppm when his TDS read over 500). Told him to get the hell out of my house and then I followed him to every house he walked to and when the neighbors opened the door, I let them know he was a fraud. When he drove away, I reported him to the anonymous state patrol tip line for his expired plates.

It was a very long presentation about RO and his company and products. $15,000 or $4,000 depends what you order.
By the end of the presentation, i forgot about the hotel tickets they promised (and conveniently he did too)..so i called him up, so he said he'd bring them by, and he did.. but they weren't tickets for a free stay at hotels like they promised. The actual tickets had MANY conditions attached, like needing to pay some kind of holding fee and a whole range of other conditions.
I went on the internet and gave them a 1 star on the better business bureau.

I actually got conned into working as a sales rep for a company that was in Barrie ON called Pristine Solutions which did the EXACT same tests!!! Tho, I had used the demo not the drops to show the apparent "contaminates".
The information session that I initially attended had "me" convinced that Id be doing people a huge favor by bringing them this info & this "deal" because according to the trainer & management it was just a matter of time before it was required by law to have a filtration system in every home & better to jump on while they could get a "deal"!! They even had news stories to support their claims!
I wasted over a month & my own $$ "investing" in fuel/vehicle etc expenses that I was supposed to replenish when making a percentage of my sales.
I was soo young & gullible!
After getting concerned as I couldn't afford to continue spending $$ without making sales & I couldn't understand why people weren't more eager to get the system, which was my 1st red flag.
Also, I was planning to get one myself soon as I made a couple sales.
Then they started telling me to impose high pressure sales tactics on people which was the 2nd red flag (& something I refused to do)
The final flag that had me returning their water "testing" kit & feeling like a huge fool was when I had just done a test for a retired engineer. I called my manager for assistance at the end, & after he asked what the retired man had done for a living he told me to pack up & just go because he (the ret.eng) was too smart & I'd just waste my time!!
    I was in shock!
& In hindsight, tho my mngr slipped up saying "he's too smart" to me, I think by then they knew if I hadn't made a sale then I wasn't going to & they'd be better off sending in sellers that don't mind pressuring people into buying something they don't want or need!
So please know that not every one of their sales reps are terrible people. If they are new to the job please give them the benefit of the doubt bc they may just be gullible & well intentioned like I had been. It's the company that's taking advantage of each & every individual that they can! Convincing folks that selling their products is helping the public. & Convincing the public they need their products!
Shameless! Absolutely shameless are these companies!
And be aware, they change their company name every few years in order to stay ahead of their terrible reputation.

Reverse osmosis systems are not bad in & of themselves. They do remove contaminants from tap water & make it purer. This is usually more about the taste or smell of the water, rather than making it safe to drink. Most tap water is safe to drink already (notable exceptions: Walkerton 2000, Flint MI 2016/17). What I take issue with with these companies are the sales tactics they use & the prices they charge. The company in the video charged the lady in New Liskard $3,500.00 for a 5 stage RO system, when a good quality 5 stage RO system can be bought off Ebay or Amazon for less than $200.00, often with an extra set of filters included. Even if you have to pay someone $100.00 to install it (takes about an hour), that's still less than $300.00. These dishonest companies are charging people more than 10x the actual market value. That's the scam.

Cryptopolis: Most tap water is NOT "safe to drink."
Across the US, municipal tap water is heavy-laden with heavy metals--toxic to all living species, & Never meant to be inside animal/human bodies, nor plant-life either.
Trace amounts of all minerals are found in soil, water, air, & find their way into bodies, but the amts. PUT into our drinking water is criminally insane.
Europe bans fluoride, for one, that the US touts as the miracle elixir of the gods to prevent tooth decay.
Flouride does exactly the opposite. It rots teeth & bone to the extreme, & the US medical industry has coined a new disease for fluoride-eaten teeth (the name of which I have forgotten off hand), something like "fluoridosis."
Drinking "pure" water is NOT "more about taste or smell," it is a multimillion dollar business to GET pure, clean water.
Most people have no clue, including you I surmise, if the bottled water is pure or not, & since tap water STINKS, any water to the American public that does NOT stink, is "pure."
And bottled water plants (99%) simply filter out stinky chlorine from Municipal Tap Water, & merely suggest via advertisements & mountain stream pictures on the bottles, that the water comes from mountain streams, though they Never claim that it does. Bottled water is not pure. Tap water is not pure. Bottled water is tap water with the chlorine removed.
Tap water in America also comes with lead, mercury, & arsenic that comes in the same containers with the fluoride that is added to the water. Fluoride, mercury, lead, & arsenic are the waste-water Sludge by-product of the ore processing of mining companies--the by-product that used to be buried in "Toxic Waste" barrels, all across the US, & around which is still a monstrous scandal.
Now the barrels are re-labeled, & shipped to every city water plant in the US.
You have merely swallowed the mainstream media-hype campaign lying, along with all that fluoride & other toxic heavy metals from your tap.

If I'm not mistaken simple filters in osmosis systems grab this "sludge" before it pumps out to your tap.

The irony is in this part of the world (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), we were also being scared into believing that our water is not safe enough because it is NOT clorinated enough and hence, is microbe-filled. We were sold the idea that we needed water purification devices that cost about $8,000 to $12,000. But, I built my own filtration system and it cost me $150.00...mostly rubber hoses and 2 glass tanks and high grade carcoal...and pebbles of various sizes.

I operated reverse osmosis "water makers" on ships for 20 years and the manufacturer's instructions forbid running chlorinated water thru the membranes because the chlorine will dissolve the filtration properties of them. I think they add fluoride because the mineral content of tap water is low, and fluoride is similar to drinking out of a clear lake that has natural minerals. You can mineralise rainwater by having a 3.5" layer of 1/2"-1" gravel mixed with clay and dirt all together, and covered with a thin layer of sand pressed into the top, then topped with a thin layer of aquarium colored gravel, add a bubbler to keep the water fresh and put in a clear 33 gallon sterilite container buttressed between the windowsill and furniture. The rainwater or RO water sitting in the water will be mineralised by the soil/rocks, but it helps to dilute that with straight rain water because there is some bacteria in that which can make you sick if you drink a lot of it without diluting it a bit, maybe 1 cup of that added to 2 cups of rainwater, and alternate drinking RO water or something during the day a bit, so you don't get sick. And exercise can keep water sickness from hitting you, as tapwater is void of any bacteria that can be harmful

Very hard water is fixed with a water softener, not a filtration system. There is also nothing wrong with hard water outside of its seemingly high calcium content which tbh isn't a bad thing for humans to consume. I don't believe for a second you have a high fluoride content in your water as it's only added to help increase the strength of your teeth and only a very small amount is needed. Chlorine, however, likely is high but also typically not as much of an issue as you would believe it to be. Reverse osmosis systems like this demineralize the water, purify it and that is a far more serious issue to your health. Consuming demineralized water regularly actually pulls needed minerals from your body and damages you. If you get a filtration system, make sure to add a water mineralizer to it as well.

Weechie the Flint ordeal is entirely different, they failed to introduce corrosion inhibitors after changing water source, and didn’t have enough money to remove the lead piping and upgrade the treatment facility. It was the political side of the ordeal that ruined everything. I assume they changed sources believing it to be cheaper (as most do) when it wasn’t. It’s extremely sad.

I get it that the scammers should be revealed, but a lot of the other messages aren't fully correct.
1: It is true that reverse osmosis gets rid of the majority of minerals. To get rid of Fluoride & Chlorine its a necessity.
2: A proper system puts back minerals after the filtering, by adding a specially made mineral tube. Japan made really good ones but were taken off the market after Nuclear problem.
3: The main problem wasn't the chlorine, it was the fact that copper pipes are corroded on the inside and produce copper salts of chlorine and fluoride. These then were soluble in water and their content was dramatically increased. World health authority recommended that copper salts shouldn't exceed 5 parts per million. Two places I worked on had 280 ppm and 480 ppm. Above the 5 ppm they recorded increased levels of schizophrenia. I did extensive repairs to a Multi level Motor Inn and noted the main copper line coming up from ground got pin holes in it, showing corrosion from the inside.
4: The system she bought should only be 400 to 800 not thousands.
5: I have had allergic reactions to Chlorine, if I smell the water from a tap it burns my nose.
6: To generalize and say tap water is OK, who are you talking about, OK for who. Some people get effected, they need to get rid of things effecting them.
That said, I do agree the scammers should be filtered out.

For people who are familiar with reverse osmosis:
Don't you need to dechlorinate the water first before running it through the membrane so that the actual membrane itself doesn't corrode ?

    • @Vijayjadhav12600

Where did you get this information? Chlorine destroys the membrane that's why carbon filter is used to remove chlorine and ro membranes doesn't rust they get block by minerals over the period of time
