“My boss is about to raise the price” is code for, “I need to create a sense of urgency so you’ll hurry up and buy before you realize how bad of a deal this is.”
That’s what happens when something gets popular and secondhand stores get a hold of that product. They don’t know anything and just assume holographic means valuable
Dude, I have been checking thrift stores for years for Pokémon cards. One time I found a box of fakes. But never again have I seen any more cards. $99 dollars for cards at a thrift store? That’s nuts!
I think you got totally scammed... These were clearly made to draw in people hoping for their biggest random find, but I am pretty sure they were combed through ahead of time. If someone's boss is going to be doubling the price of a pack, that means they have some idea of the value of the cards. So there's no way they didn't already remove any valuable cards and leave behind just a bunch of garbage for unsuspecting onlookers.
Not sure if someone else said this below but what you went to we call, here in the United States, a pawn shop. A thrift store is usually a store where people drop off donations and the store staff sort it for quality and then price it based on their store guidelines. A pawn shop is where people sell their items and the shop then turns around and sells it for an increased price. Pawn shops tend to do due diligence on pricing or, as you found out, price them way higher for tradeable goods. You can get good prices from pawn shops, but rarely do you get good savings. I would never buy cards from a pawn shop for these reasons.
This wasn’t someone trading in their collection, this was someone trading in their BULK. Sorry to see you get ripped off. Thanks for building the awareness, though!
Ando, anything in a showcase at a "thrift store" is gonna be marked up and sometimes ridiculously. You gotta look at the rest of the store when it comes to these big box resell shops. Look for the stuff on random shelves and in the baggies hanging off the pegs. Another great option is smaller stores like church thrift shops and such. I know you probably don't need the advice as this is something you probably don't have the time for or need to do but maybe someone reading this can find this useful.
Whoever packed that is the same guy who hit your car in the parking lot and left without saying anything, and invented the oval shaped carnival basketball hoops
Came back to watching this channel for the past few weeks. I’m 13 and it’s crazy because I watched him so much a few years ago. He’s still the same enthusiastic person.
This reminds me, probably like 8 or so years ago I found a tin full of gen 3 pokemon cards at a thrift shop and my dad didn't let me get it and I'm still slightly salty at him for that to this day
Cash converters isn't exactly a second hand shop. Its a large company that rips people off for pre used items. A thrift store or charity shop would be independently run where things are cheap. It's a shame this all you have over there is cash converters.
Hi UnlistedLeaf, your videos are so good to watch, I am starting to be interested in collecting Pokemon Cards so now I will watch your videos a lot more!
I highly doubt they are random. You will get all common and some uncommon and of course the pikachu cards from celebrations, everyone pulls those cards lol. there ain't gonna be no zard or blastoise or anything. Those guys at the thrift store seen you comin and they took full advantage. No way for 99 bucks
I bought 2 of these full art sylveon and gardevoir from unbroken bonds and they were so fake. They refunded me thankfully, but I was so mad about it. They ended up in the trash in the end.
I remember being scammed and they ended up getting fired from the “Amazon” shop. For $20 i never thought it was legit but now I know to never made a stupid mistake like that again.
The guys at the shop may be basing their idea of valuable cards off of when they were young, I remember me and everyone I knew thought holos were insanely rare
Ando should sue! They shouldnt double the price of the $99 pack if they keep the same pulls- they should make it half the price! Thats so messed up how the $12 dollar one was BETTER!
not only can you not sue for that, it would cost thousands to hire a law firm to sue for a $99 pack. They wouldnt even take the case though because its not illegal
They probably just saw the reverse holo cards and thought they were super valuable cuz they were shiny. Some people don’t know. They all seemed to be reverse pulls so I think they legit thought they were all the good ones. Maybe they should consult you from now on ;)
I will play a little devils advocate. if he thought the evolutions were og cards and priced it based on that its possible. or like you said he over valued reverse and rares and scammed you or was clueless
The thing is that i’ve saw videos claiming that evolutions are $2000 a pack and that some cards (reverses) are worth $100’s each maybe they saw one of those videos.
That doesn't look like a thrift store. That looks like a pawn shop. Not really the same. Thrift stores are donation based and no research goes into pricing because they're rarely "for profit", and are usually supporting a charity. Pawn shops are basically no different than dealers. Buy low, sell high.
Worked at good will found a binder of Yu-Gi-Oh cards had some nice old school pulls told the the boss, hey these are probably worth $400 . He said 400 not for cardboard . The next day the we up on the counter for $39. Gone in 60 seconds.

Mr tails has achieved the advancement "oh shiny"!

To think the 12 dollar one was more valuable than the 99 dollar one.

It's not a thrift shop it's a hock shop
@@biggiebogan6110 Which is almost a pawn shop

Absolutely! Everytime he says may be a Charizard in there, I'm like🤣🤣🤣🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

spot on
Actually one of the biggest scams was charging $50 dollars for three Celebrations Packs.
Ouch
It's karma LOL
Think this crook charged even more than that iirc
"Let's pretend we're not filming"
2 seconds later: "So guys, look at these cards" XDDDD
This wasn’t someone trading in their collection, this was someone trading in their BULK. Sorry to see you get ripped off. Thanks for building the awareness, though!
Went through all that effort to seal those cards up, people are taking advantage of others through Pokémon!
What a lesson learned! Just don't go easily believe what you saw on TikTok coz it's not always true what videos you'll find there!
Whoever sold those thought reverse holos were the most rare things on earth … such bad luck
Why aren’t they valuable?
@@paulkendrick4153 only some cards are valuable
I also think you will get scammed, definitely with that "double" the price thing xD
Scams are scary 😳

Bro you went to cashies that's on you hahahaha
Definitely got scammed on that 99dollars one! Should never of brought tgst from cash converter at that price
Ouch, that $99 brick should be priced around $10 tops.
Whoever packed that is the same guy who hit your car in the parking lot and left without saying anything, and invented the oval shaped carnival basketball hoops
That last pack was so bad unfortunately. Not even close to being valued at $99… fun to watch though!
Came back to watching this channel for the past few weeks. I’m 13 and it’s crazy because I watched him so much a few years ago. He’s still the same enthusiastic person.
Have any of you seen the Shaymin VStar Alt art? I think it might be the greatest artwork ever on a Pokémon card. I’m not even over exaggerating.
Expensive bulk is what I call this... you were definitely scammed.
This reminds me, probably like 8 or so years ago I found a tin full of gen 3 pokemon cards at a thrift shop and my dad didn't let me get it and I'm still slightly salty at him for that to this day
You could have bought it yourself tho .
Dankpods has ruined me😂 i saw cash converters and instantly yelled "CASHIESSSS!!"
was looking for that comment :D Same here!
Luckily there weren’t any gi joe packs.
I can’t believe ando is calling cash converters a thrift store, it’s a pawn shop so everything is overpriced
An empty celebrations tin for $30 wtf lmaooo
I mean..that was his sign lol
I bet the guy that wrapped these he is probably laughing 🤣
Whoa, crazy to find out my man Ando be listening to Macklemore
They definitely thought reverses were more rare.

I've saw that tiktok and I was like THIS HAS TO BE FAKE
When that guy sees your youtube channel lol dude you just got scammed 😆😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I really wish those people did more research on Pokemon Cards before selling them for that much
they knew exactly what they did
Hey Ando! Love the video/channel like always! Keep it up stay safe hope you reach 2.5M subscribers and have an amazing night! 😁👍
DankPods: enters the chat when cashies pop up
@Dankpods
*pulls new, worthless cards*
This guy: squeals ;)
I love your videos so much and you are my favourite Pokemon TH-camr!💖💖💖
Why wasn't Mr. Stanley deployed to open that shrink wrap?! 😮
lol if that happened to me I would turn into a human bomb
Hi UnlistedLeaf, your videos are so good to watch, I am starting to be interested in collecting Pokemon Cards so now I will watch your videos a lot more!
ngl he's so loud in all his videos and I could never stand to watch more than a few minutes because of his obvious fake overly-enthusiastic attitude.
Ouch saw you coming mate that’s horrible 99 bucks for what 😂 keep up the awesome vids
They thought they were base set!! lol
When u don't go to a thrift shop, a thrift shop is a charity shore like vinnies, cash Converters is a pawn store
Nothing at a ‘thrift’ should be over $100.
I dont want to ever go to a thrift shop to buy packs or cards
Never ever scene Pokemon cards at thrifts stores in my area.
Great video!
HEYYY, Cash Converters is the same shop my family owns a branch of in England :3
Cool
They use to have a bunch of them in Canada. But they slowly started to close down.
Fellow English guy I also live really near one
I always thought thrift stores were similar to charity shops
I highly doubt they are random. You will get all common and some uncommon and of course the pikachu cards from celebrations, everyone pulls those cards lol. there ain't gonna be no zard or blastoise or anything. I once bought a 50 pack pokemon packet on Ebay for £2 thinking it was real then I noticed that it was fake
I bought 2 of these full art sylveon and gardevoir from unbroken bonds and they were so fake. They refunded me thankfully, but I was so mad about it. They ended up in the trash in the end.
So you basically bought your own Stockx Celebrations pack O.o
I remember being scammed and they ended up getting fired from the “Amazon” shop. For $20 i never thought it was legit but now I know to never made a stupid mistake like that again.
Here is a pro Gacha and TCG collector tip for anyone out there; never buy a live $20 unless it’s official content by the company who owns the product
Poor guy, scammers are everywhere
If Pokémon was on “wish”
They probably thought evolutions was actually vintage base set because they aren't collectors
I saw cards once at my thrift store
I wasn't collecting at the time,
Yes, I always think what was in em
Giving them the benefit of the doubt they could have thought the evolutions cards were base set
Cash converters are dodgy though. Suss out Opshots as they wouldn’t price everything at a couple bucks
100% cashies are the worst
Maybe the Zapdos was the best pull.
Yeah pretty much how I thought it'd go lmao
Holy West Virginia what a crazy find
Cash Converters is more of a Pawn shop here in Canada not a thrift store.
It's a lunch box not a tin
The guys at the shop may be basing their idea of valuable cards off of when they were young, I remember me and everyone I knew thought holos were insanely rare
Holy Aunt Jemima in West Virginia! Sorry you got scammed Ando! was really hoping to see you knock over your chair!! I love your videos!!
Seems Pretty Expensive For Non Sealed Pokemon Card's!
They 100% thought reverse holos or Regular holos and worth a bunch.
Moral don’t buy from a thrift shop
Bro every time u rotated the cards made me mad lol
Also you got scammed bad
Really don’t know what you were expecting dude
Thought this was gonna be him buying his own celebrations packs
Oh no! I hope you are okay...

Cash Converters have become like an eBay store but the good stuff is not there as the seller has sold off the good stuff
Lol that was ridiculous he is wrong for that
Reverse Charmander is worth $5,000
Bro every time u rotated the cards made me mad lol
bruh the 99$ had less value than the 12$
Cash converters scammers that charge eBay prices too honest 😞
The thing is that i’ve saw videos claiming that evolutions are $2000 a pack and that some cards (reverses) are worth $100’s each maybe they saw one of those videos.
