It is truly amazing how a band came from humble beginnings can compose a wonderful piece like this, and *Miku* the rhythm guitarist started playing guitar back in 2014. In the beginning there was a small pigeon 🐦 who met a guitarist 🎸 who played with a drummer 🥁 who went to school with the bassist 🎸 and then tricked the singer 🎤 to join the band then the small pigeon 🐦 asks the guitarist 🎸 please teach me how to play the guitar 🎸. The Story Continues.
There is an electronic backing track, they often use them to get a background wall of sound... but I think it's Miku's rhythm guitar at the place you indicate... However, in the outro part, you can clearly hear the synth, slightly above the bass line, and below the Kanami guitar. I like that part, when Misa and Miku continue the "default" melody, the synth doubles it, and Kanami plays above it, an atypically "calm" solo for her. I actually like the whole song, how it grows…
I can hear the whooshing sound that sweeps in and out in the earlier parts. Not as clear as in the studio recording...which alarms me when listening in the car...makes me look around thinking a storm has arrived 😁
First heard this shortly after I discovered Band-Maid 3 years ago, Awkward along with the previous song Matchless Gum drove me to find and buy the special edition that this concert is on. Great review/reaction. Thank you.

Excellent analysis as always. You always point out a few things no one else has mentioned. You should give a listen to the live version of Play on their channel. It is one of their favorite songs to play Live. It has a lot of crowd interaction along with plenty of unique elements to keep it interesting. I did check out a couple of covers. I was impressed by the versatility of your voice.
This was from the Studio Coast live DVD, recorded in Nov 2017 and was available as a limited edition bonus disk for the Feb. 2018 'Just Bring it' album. Live at Tokyo Zepp DVD/Blue-ray was recorded in April 2018 and was also only available as a limited edition. There was also several live clips from their Jan 9, 2017 Akasaka BLITZ concert that was available in very limited quantities as a Pre-release. The "Instrumental Maid" channel has postings of 'Take Me Higher', 'Real Existence' & 'The Non-Fiction Days'. None of this older live material has been in print for quite a while. Clips occasionally come up.
