Dude… that was SO freaking easy! CarPlay is a gamechanger on a long ride and my local dealer wanted $450 to enable it on my 23 RoadGlide ST. I’m very shy about wrenching on my $35,000 bike, but it only took me about a half hour and a $12.50 part. Thanks, man.
In my 2019 Ultra, if you look inside the cubby on the right side about an inch or so there is a hole already there where you can route a charging cable. If your bike is the same then no need to notch anything out and you can ride with the cubby door closed. I routed my charging cable up the brake line and just used small zip ties to secure it.
I'll have to take a look at that. i normally keep my phone on a holder attached to the bars on both of my bikes. The cubby on the Street Glide seems too small to fit my iPhone 14 pro max
I can use my Mike on a impulse helmet and answer phone calls and voice to text ,have sena impulse paired with cable connected to boom. Excellent videos, keep up the good work
Nice video and I think that you covered it all. I have a 2021 RGS with this same plug and I use a Sena 10C for audio and phone calls. Ive been using it for the last year and its been flawless. Another plus of the Road Glide is that it fits my iPhone 12 Plus in the cubby so no rain issues there. Stay safe.
Good info. Thanks. It’s been 2 yrs since you did this video, have you figured out any tips or tricks that you did not cover? Also, heard you can get HD to flash your system for the whim, without a whim installed, and it works, you know anything about that? Thank you 🇺🇸✌️
Nothing new. The dongle worked well on my bike. I heard the same thing about flashing the radio, but never bothered to try it. On my 18 Road Glide (with the older system) I replaced it with a Sound Stream radio. I love it!
So, I bought the whim a few years ago and have the harley headset so CarPlay is supposed to work....? Im too unimpressed with HDs video / dashboard systems... RG & Pan Am...
I'm not sure. The jumper basically tells the system there is a mic attached. A mic is a requirement for CarPlay to function. I don't know if Android has that same requirement.
I love using Apple Car Play on the bike. I do have the WHIM installed, and the biggest drawback to that, besides the cost, is that you must use the Harley Branded Sena headset to get the most functionality. Can;t wait to see the comparisson of the Radios. I really like the features of the GTS Infortainment system, so interested to the capibility of the other head unit.
I'm about to switch to iphone because of this video. I have an AAwireless dongle, but it only allows maps and Spotify audio to be routed to the helmet. For calls, I still have to manually hit the Bluetooth output on the phone, defeating the point of android auto.
There has to be a way to listen to music in the helmet while CarPlay is on. Using a cardo headset. I added a wireless CarPlay adapter but for some reason it’s not working I know there is a certain order we’re the phone has to connect to the Harley first then you turn on the cardo headset.
If you connect the Cardo to your phone, you will get the music in the headset. Connect the bike to the phone (USB) will allow you to use CarPlay. With this setup, CarPlay works AND you can decide to play the music in your headset or through the bike
@@RidingandWrenching Are you saying that it needs to be connected to the USB? I have a wireless carplay adapter. I did try what you stated, but for some reason it just doesn't want to do it. I tried every combination on how to connect and it still defaults to the motorcycle speakers. I even removed the carplay wireless adapter to see if it will switch over to the Cardo. Just curious what Im doing wrong since it only seems to work when I dont have carplay enabled.
@@mkviz I haven't tried a wireless CarPlay adapter, so I'm not sure about them. Connecting the headset to the phone gives you the flexibility to play music in either the headset or through the bikes speakers. If CarPlay is running, nav instructions default to the bike. The only thing that gets weird is after a phone call comes through. You may have to go through the phone to redirect the music to the headset
Have you tried to listen to Spotify through your Cardo while your phone is plugged into the cable and CarPlay is active because I have had it working a few times but can’t figure out how I did it. If so can you do a vid on it as there is no one out there that has. Great channel also👍👍
I don't listen to Spotify, I generally to Amazon Music or Apple Music. The process should be the same. I will do a follow up video soon covering this topic
I have a question I have Apple car play and a pack talk. What music can u listen through your headset downloaded music store on your phone or pandora etc and can u still be able to communicate with another ride via the com of your packtalk while having the phone connected with usb
I haven't been able to listen to music AND connect to other riders. That is the drawback with Cards. You have to pick one or the other. It won't let you do both at the same time....If it's possible, I don't know how to do it!
@@RidingandWrenching well I was riding last night and I was pair with a buddy and having the Cardo app on I was able to listen to Spotify and talk to my buddy but as soon as I plugged my wire into the usb for carplay it went off. Hi I wanted to ask you a question but does this connector with the jump also work on the 2022 cvo trike? I'm asking you this question because I also use the Cardo intercom and I don't want to use the Harley Sena system
@@RidingandWrenching I have already tried to connect my iphone 11 with usb but apple car play does not start, i start only if the sena 30k system is also connected which is already supplied with the cvo series
@@RidingandWrenching I also thank you because I'm here in Italy and there are no trained people for technical support for the Harley electronic part. I purchased the 2022 model cvo trike and just picked it up from the dealership in Milan Italy after a year of waiting it finally arrived. I am very disappointed that Harley does not allow you to connect the cardo system, they are not serious
I put a 2020 boom gts in my buddy 2018, works good. Have the same jumper on my 21 RGS so got him one but it doesn’t fit the harness plug far as I can see. Anyone had solved this with GTS?
Is it still working bc I read a review where the guy said when he took his bike in for service and Harley did the latest software update it doesn’t work anymore wondering if that’s true
I would check the USB connector to make sure it works. Also try a different lightning cable. Another thought is to inspect the jumper to ensure that it "shorts" the correct two wires. Was the radio flashed (or had a software update?)
It worked! I had Apple play on our street glide in less than 10 mins!!!! Thanks Cue!!!!
Glad it helped!

I prefer iPhone because of the "ecosystem". Android phones are fine (especially Samsung) but they don't have the supporting ecosystem that Apple has.
I ran the usb thru one of the holes in the box to get to the outside of the box so that I can close the door.
