One of the best-produced train videos ever! I traveled on this line a as a passenger, though obviously not the freight sections which were very interesting. I especially appreciated the speed and location notes. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos!

That was very enjoyable to watch. Interesting to go on lines we haven't seen before. The quality of the filming is so good at 4K. I can understand why it took so long to edit and render. Thanks for taking the time and care to do so good a job (including driving of course)

I discovered your channel a little over a week ago. I am recovering from surgery and this is the most pleasant way I can imagine spending my convalescence. I’ve learned that Norway is a beautiful country and that I should have been a train driver! Well, I’m retired now so it is too late now! Thank you for the marvelous education and entertainment. Stay safe.

Thank you so much RCG!! I spent most of last year riding with you as I did my rehab exercises post-hand surgery. Surprised at how quiet your freight engine cab is; thought it would be clattery and gasp-y (like some of your older passenger engines). The ride "feels" much heavier, more ponderous--more weight to start and stop, I guess. Thanks for coming back and for your hard work putting it all together!

Many thanks, D, for another winner of a video! I enjoyed the 'railway humour' where you used a traditional term, 'CONN-troller' coupled with the relatively new use of the word 'Troll'!! All of your captions make the journey more interesting and out-of-way happenings better understood. Congratulations on successful move from passenger to freight driving. Regard, Martin

Thanks for an interesting trip, well explained along the way.
How do you disconnect from the train at the terminal? Can you disconnect and set the brakes on the train from the cab without someone on the ground?

    Grazie.....

So great! There were rather few freight cab ride videos from norway before you started. Thank you very much. Who knows. Perhaps we will see other routes from you in the future. 😉 But I have a question related to your time as a train driver for passenger services. There are yellow stopping signs with numbers like 110 or 220. I guess it's meter. But what if the train is longer than 110 but shorter than 220 m? Platform 1 at Asker for example. It is also a stop for Sørtoget. If the train is Loco-Hauled (EL18), there are not more than 5 Wagons with it. That's not 220 meters right? But longer than 110 m. But: When watching your videos, I can only make out the 110, 220 and 350 sign on platform 1 at Asker Station. Thank you very much. Keep up the great work. 🙂

110 and 220 markers are mainly used by EMU’s they indicate where a train with a given length should stop.
For loco + carriages you stop where fit. So let’s say you have a 150m long train then you pass the 110 mark and stop 40m later. Nothing more to it than that.
And yes, other lines will come too as I go by them ;)

The speciality train vehicle at 3:03 in appears to be an older infrastructure maintenance vehicle, if you could, if you know, please confirm. Thank you.

A fascinating journey and illustrates well the need for route knowledge as when you were maintaining momentum to climb out of Oslo S. What is the meaning of the sign which is a black circle on a yellow diamond ?
    Thanks for posting.

What was going on there at 1:37:45? You sounded the horn much longer and many more times than normal. You also slowed considerably.

Not sure if you know or care to comment, at the 48 minute mark there are a lot of trees that have been snapped off nearly at their bases. Some could be logging but does not seem uniform enough to be so. What kind of wind storm did this area see that caused this as that is what it looks like? Any suggestions?
Some trees are lined up at the tracks, others are scattered in the woods. Does not seem to be something caused by people, too random.

My guess is logging but I'm not 100% sure. Look at 47:00 on for a while on the left. Some areas appear to be clear cut.

Oh, read a few more comments ahead. She comments on it. Yes it was indeed a storm.

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

It was a severe storm with 160km/h winds that hit the area in November. Lots of trees snapped like twigs because never grew resilient for something that has never happened before. The line was closed for a days due to the amount of trees over the line and torn down catenary. Check out the catenary mast just before Bergheim, and the check with previous videos of the same place, and you'll see how many trees that is now gone.

@@RailCowGirl Ha ha! If others would like this, then I say go for it. Personally, when I’m not trying to sleep, and I see the diagonal sign, I always honk the horn with you. But I’m not sure where your horn is located. Do you pull a string from the rood like truck drivers use? Or do you have a button on your console? These are the questions that keep me up at night. 😉
