I started watching your channel (in a regular basis) just a few weeks (or maybe months?) ago and I wanted to know how did it evolve. I can tell that this switcher is (or was) a huge improve for your work. Congratz man!
With all your amps, you'll need another one. I reckon those 'bus" jacks on the back are for linking the speaker busses and input busses when you link multiple switchers. The speaker signal certainly wouldn't go through the Cat5 from one unit to another. Love your vids, mate.
It's rather genious of him to give you this, seeing as he gets both the promotion AND you'll end up going back and buying three more to daisy-chain in the rest of your amps.
'Stromrechnung zu niedrig? Kaufe dir das Ampete 88s Studio und betreibe all deine Amps gleichzeitig - die ganze Zeit!' Geiles Teil - Man könnte fast meinen, das wäre eine Custom-Anfertigung für dich. Du freust dich darüber fast so wie über Murple.
This is a brilliant device, so overdue. I bet a guitar store could get a lot of use out of this in their amp demo rooms if it also works for combo amps.
Henning, this is amazing. A truly great year, not even over and the goodness just keeps coming! The Ampete would of been perfect for your recent cabinet demos. I noticed you showed us instrument, was it inputs? So could you have several guitar rigs and switch between guitar with effects, amps and cabs? If that is the case, even better! Possibly add a lopper/switcher and go really crazy!
Did I understand right, that this unit corrects impedance mismatching? So I can run my amps at 16 Ohm and switch from 4 to 16 Ohm speakers without a problem and without changing the settings on the amp(impedance settings)?
This was my question as well. Can you have multiple amps on with the switcher at the same? If so, maybe you could use two slots for one amp for pre and post?
I haven't had any experience with these but I think you can just hook up your effects and chain them through each amplifiers FX loops. Theoretically this would mean that the effects are changed through each amp at all times
Good product, but for the price of this unit (1800 Euros) you can buy other hi-end amp and do un/plugging by yourself. And it will bring much more options to your sound than just this "switching system".
Steve Carlsson In my mind this is meant for producers in professional studios, where this saves a lot of time. And if you have money for 8 amps, the €1800 for this won't be a problem. Yeah, it's one of those things most of us don't really need..but that's what makes it even cooler
The question if it worths the money asked? Well there is no even 30% of electronics of a usual tube amp inside this device. THIS IS JUST SWITCHING SYSTEM. And if I buy tube amp, I know what I am paying for. But with ampete 88s I am hugely overpaying for this device. So I can have a new amp and switch cables by myself for the money asked. or can have PROFESSIONAL torpedo studio which have 1000% more complicated design than 88s. Ampete please overthink your pricing.
Well, you seem to be forgetting that this system protects you from impedance-problems and allows you to switch between amps and cabs without the need to turn them off (or blowing up your amps). So it's essentially 8 'switchable' loadboxes with a bunch of relays, buffers and an impedance sensing system in a 2HE size. That's a rather complicated device with a lot of intricate parts and if you know how much these parts are separate (and why) you'd understand that the pricing is quite fair. If you really look at it hardware wise, the torpedo isn't even close. Since it's basically an AD-DA converter with a tiny computer in the middle. Pretty sure the Ampete is more expensive to make. Even though I understand the algorithms for digital equipment don't make themselves. This is for people who want an analog setup. Digital makes more sense, but we're musicians and sensible isn't a priority. This is a setup to change actual heads and actual cabs which -most wil agree- sounds best.
No I am not forgetting about load, someone told me that there is no actual load (watts) in Ampete, there is only "impedance buffer" (ohms). Thats why some people do not recommend to use it, the situation is opposite in tonebone switching systems. Possibly it is hard to make such device as a custom unit. But Da and Ad in torpedo is no cheaper in any way. It is made by a bigger company and I am glad that it is not priced at 3000 Euros as a custom unit. Being an analog man by myself, I would prefer to keep the whole signal path in analog, but high volume is a problem for me, thats where digital torpedo come to play.

2 days in a row I learned a new thing!

This seems to be the best toy you have had to date, enjoy. Looking forward to seeing you use it in you reviews. Keep up the great work.

Imagine a MIDI version of this where you could switch combinations of amps using a pedalboard switcher through MIDI.

so you can swith different amp to a 1 cabinet and/or swith different cab to one amp?
Wow! As if it was designed for your Studio/TH-cam-Reviews!
One amp at a time... hmm, what about stereo setups, is it possible? If it is - I think I'm gonna get the spider (4x4).
Looks like the system they use at Musicstore Köln in the amp room
Every Large Guitar Store should have one
I don't have enough outlets. What do you recommend that could power a bunch of heads to one outlet? Furman?
yes
KHE has an attenuator in/out so you can use same attenuator for all the amps. Seems like a must but the Ampete doesn't have it.
the Ampete 88S 2 has that as well
Superb Product!!!!
I know some of the other Ampete systems feature the ability to use an FX loop. What about this one?
This was my question as well. Can you have multiple amps on with the switcher at the same? If so, maybe you could use two slots for one amp for pre and post?

This is exactly what I was looking for but need it footswitchable I wonder if this is compatible with like a voodoo labs foot controller
they can be midi controlled
@@EytschPi42 awesome, thanks! I enjoy your videos
you are gonna love that for sure ;)

mind blowing stuff....thanks for info.
For studio is not THE SHIT but the ULTIMATE SHIT.
thats Hanzel & Gretal , street... Kitty, dont you dare run away
cool!
Are you still using this; if so how’s it working?
use it every day.... I can't imagine working without it! I have 2 now
please tell me that you can switch this thing with MIDI. If not I will cry!
Alex Lewis no, you cannot, but I think the 4x4 is midi capable!
There is a god! The 4x4 looks perfect.
Then profile everything with a kemper :)
Hurry up and demo it. When you were using it in the amp room I think i might have pee'd a little.
$1,400 for the smallest model I don't understand it
