Frank's version is more similar to our Italian lasagne bolognesi. In some areas, people will add pancetta or lard to the minced meat, and in Naples, they also use prosciutto and mozzarella. To be honest, lasagne can be made with anything, as the name stands for the pasta: there is lasagne al pesto, ricotta&spinach lasagne, vegetable lasagne etc... all sorts of variety! Anyway, the original recipe for lasagne bolognesi consists of: Onion, celery and carrots all chopped in irregular sizes (some small, some bigger); Minced beef meat (and you may add lard and pancetta too); Sage; Tomato paste and tomato sauce; Salt, pepper and perhaps even sugar, depending on how ripe the tomato is (the higher the quality of your tomatoes, the less sour they taste); Bechamel: Butter, flour and milk; salt, pepper and nutmeg. And obviously, Parmigiano!

Kadijah's definitely isn't traditional with the east African spices. I'd try it as it might taste good. But it is not something to go for if you are looking for Italian. One thing I don't understand is why she added honey. It looked like she used a prepared spice blend and I have never encountered a berbere blend hot enough to warrant it. You have to use non-traditional peppers for that kind of heat.
Friendship ended with RICOTTA Now BECHAMEL is my best friend For years I thought lasagna was overrated because ricotta makes it all gritty and horrible. Frank, you opened my eyes and taught me to love again.
It's actually the opposite for me, I wasn't a fan of lasagna because of the bechamel but liked it more with the ricotta, which Frank used in his recipe on his own channel. Now, where Frank really inspired me though was with the sauce, now I'll have ragu from slow cooked shredded meat over minced meat any day of the week (provided I have the time to spare)
I come from Switzerland and I guess we are influenced by Ticino and the northern part of Italy, because I honestly had no idea that you could do lasagna without the bechamel.

damn the level 3's lasagna actually looked the best this time
I still wanna try all 3.
Tickle_My_Pickle.mp4 not to me
I'm italian. It isn't perfect, but it's definitely the best and most accurate one.
Tickle_My_Pickle.mp4 it’s not too fancy but looks delish and appears to be most traditional.
.. #1's was the most like the lasagna I've had my whole life.. #3 just doesn't do it for me
What if Epicurious did an episode where 3 level-3 chefs had a showdown to see how different their food can be?
You’re watching it lol
"Leave the crispy part for my wife"
That's true love right there, cute 🥺🥺
looking for this comment because i audibly said awwww when i heard that!
Hope to find me a man like that one day 😍
Suggestion: let the cooks all try each others food. Everyone always likes their own food. Lets see how the other cooks like each others stuff.
I was just thinking the same! that that would be awsome tho
It might be a scheduling thing. I believe they dont cook at the same time. Not only that its possible that they dont have all three people there the same day someone cooks so testing the food isnt really practical if you need to taste the next dish the other day and compare.
I can see why they wouldn't do that, but it would be a cool thing to see.
EXACTLYY
Yes
If Emily was here she’d be putting ketchup in this instead of tomato sauce
IKR
There are some recipes where you can do that though as long as you balance the added sweetness from the ketchup
IM SO THANKFUL THEY TOLD EMILY TO TAKE A BREAK BECAUSE I WOULD HACE LOST MY MIND !
.
KRV199 probably because Emily doesn’t even know how to make a lasagna (I mean I don’t either)
Level 1 Chef: I don't season my meat because I like the taste of it
Me: Barfing in the corner and covering my eyes.
One thing I'd always like to see is each different levels trying each others. I feel like level 1 did a really good job this round!
Kiddameh probably taste bad considering he didn’t season anything
@@ltbacon5308 He did though. He added salt and pepper after the meat and the sauce was a pre-made, seasoned sauce. So it was seasoned, just not in the same order or way that the others were.
@Leov It's a lot better than what we usually see. Just a little underseasoned and with extra fat but at least it's not ketchup or cheesecake.
He did a good job but "no time" to cook sauce , really ??
@@davidquezada7814 but thats appropriate for lvl 1, isn't it?

I enjoy these and have seen lots of them. This is the first time I have ever thought that I was better than the level 2 chef and almost as good as the pro-chef. My mom taught me how to make lasagna the right way; the right way is way closer to Frank’s than the other two.

That lasagna is horrible though
That's because none of the other level 1 chefs would ever attempt something as complicated as lasagna. This guy is more like level 1.5.

Level 2 should be level zero. That looked awful.
In north africa we use bechamel too
Vince James
Right! How could she use turkey in a lasagna?🤢
Anyway, the original recipe for lasagne bolognesi consists of:
Onion, celery and carrots all chopped in irregular sizes (some small, some bigger);
Minced beef meat (and you may add lard and pancetta too);
Sage;
Tomato paste and tomato sauce;
Salt, pepper and perhaps even sugar, depending on how ripe the tomato is (the higher the quality of your tomatoes, the less sour they taste);
Bechamel:
Butter, flour and milk;
salt, pepper and nutmeg.

Friendship ended with RICOTTA
Now BECHAMEL is my best friend
For years I thought lasagna was overrated because ricotta makes it all gritty and horrible. Frank, you opened my eyes and taught me to love again.
We use cottage cheese instead, with parm, parsley, eggs, salt, & basil. Melts nicely :)
