I love it! I've been pondering training a mame to keep on my desk at work. I think this will be my weekend project now.

Looking good and healthy. I am lucky to find my yamadori crepe myrtle from a kind neighbourhood.

Another beautiful tree & video! You are SOOOOO gentle with your root pruning! Ha! & I swear every time I see that fork, I want to come down to K.C. to give you a 'proper' root rake! Those remaining roots looked great for a root-over-rock planting, but probably not in a mame pot.
Okay, you KNOW I have an opinion on the visual 'front'. Totally would've gone with side 2 as the front, myself, as it is in keeping with the auspiciousness of the Shinto Origins of the Bonsai. Ha! My late husband MADE me read every book on the subject! Domo Arigato Sensei! Hai!

Maggie Rezac thanks.. I'll pick up a root rake one of these days.. the fork seems to work so far..
I'm sure I'll have to pick a new front once this tree grows out again

BnB, thanks for your kind words! As for the fork vs. the root rake, hey, whatever works & you do it so very well! Also enjoy the screwdriver for poking out the air pockets. Dear John Naka INSISTS on using a chopstick, but then I don't agree with everything Sensei Naka has written!
Thanks again for sharing your beauty! Hai!

that looks very cool do you still try and get a good nebari with these small plants

Fred Grech yes, watch for the Japanese Holly video coming out shortly that tree has crazy nebari..
I always look for trunk movement and nebari when picking trees .. I figure I can get the branching where I want it over time

Pretty sure a mrytle would survive a nuke landing on it. I just chopped one down and then I spent a ton of time grinding the stump out. I now have about 900 suckers growing off existing roots that I missed while grinding the stump.
I did a test to see if I could straight cut a tree by 2/3 and it's still growing shoots out the top. Damn tree is a crazy one for sure.

So what kind of soil did you use? Would love to see updated pics of how this one is doing.

I bought a fukien tea bonsai and i repotted it and i trimmed the roots a little bit and it's been two days now and I think it's not going to survive it's dropping the leaves can you help me please

Joseph Harmandian without knowing all the variables I don't know how much help I. can be but I'd limit how much sun it gets..
if you're located where it gets pretty hot during the day I would try to place it where it's out of the sun duringbathe hottest part of the day but gets either sun in the morning or evening..
I try to do that with all the trees I work on right after.. for a week or longer depending on how they look..
mine seems to like a lot of water also so don't drown it but make sure and keep it watered very well

I have had several fukien tea Bonsais during my many years of Bonsai! One thing is that they don't like to be touched! Even by other plants! Or moved, so if you just bought it, it may well still be in a state of shock. I agree with BnB to keep it out of direct sunlight while it acclimates to its new home. And if you purchased it with those hideous herbicidal glued on rocks atop, get those damned things off ASAP! Hope that helps! Dame Desu Hai!

That's the tallest mame I've ever seen. You do know what a mame bonsai is right? You've got a pretty stick in a pot. Sorry, but you can't call that a bonsai.

Eric Brown yes the eventual plan was to get the tree a lot shorter but unfortunately that didn't happen
