That is a lot cheaper then I originally thought. I never even looked at how much the cost of living is in Dubai because I often see unrealistic lives being portrayed online but I’m glad I did some research.
I just got back from Dubai and asked the same questions. Your electric and gas will be similar to UK because of the air con system but there are no other additional costs such as council tax or road tax etc, only 5 dirhams per sqm of your property for maintaining the facilities in your housing complex and if it’s an apartment the costs is a bit higher - this is if you own the property, if renting then the landlord pays
The thing is when you compare the cost of living of Dubai with the western big cities it would be a good idea to compare the salaries as well. I don't if I am the poorest person but I find expensive.

In California Bay area, a Mcdonald big mac combo costs you $14 now. The cheapest one bedroom apartment here is about $3000 a month. So basically Dubai a city built in desert is actually cheaper than a city with ample resources like San Francisco. How do you make sense of that?

1 comment.. 1000 AED/Year for healthcare does not cover anything at all. This is mostly a Visa Insurance... You can anticipate something closer to 5000 AED per year to get something decent, and above 10 000 AED per head to start getting something reasonable to cover a random person at good hospitals.

There 2 things in live you can't escape. One of them is taxes). Most of the countries apply Citizenship based taxation system for the most people moving to Dubai doesn't do any savings on taxes as they pay same taxes as if thy were working in the home country.
2000 usd is expensive rent which is 1500 gbp and even in the UK that’s expensive for most people. And if 2000usd is on the cheap side then that’s a bit worrying. Even for someone that makes 6 figures from a 9-5 is expensive. Spending that much on rent can’t be justified in my opinion unless if you make 10k a month minimum after taxes. I don’t know if everyone is just single but if you have kids and a wife 2000 usd is very expensive.
@@dropshipincanada maybe it is. We live in a 4 bedroom house and the rent is 1450 pounds per month, that’s excluding water gas and electricity bills. With those bills we get up to about 1800 pounds. Bear in mind I have 4 kids that are hungry and a wife that all expenses are paid because she doesn’t work and that’s because I don’t want her to work. And then you have got petrol clothes and food which comes up to about another 2k a month so that alone is about 4k a month for 6 people. Whilst this guy in Dubai is spending almost the same on himself. Is that normal ?
In London you would pay way way more for the same thing. Agreed, if you make less than 10k/mo, you probably should not spend what I spend. If you watched the video you would have seen me show that there are many areas where you get much less than 2k.
@@tuomaskiv the taxes in UK are absolutely absurd, if it wasn’t of taxes I would be on 10k+ per month but paying almost 50% tax is crazy. Do you know what they pay in Dubai for senior software engineers?
I couldn't help but notice that you haven't mentioned areas such as Deira, Karama, Al Qusais, Bur Dubai etc (basically the areas east of the creek, called "Old Dubai"), where the rents for 2BHK apartments are sometimes cheaper than the 1BHK prices in the areas that you mentioned. The areas you mentioned have lesser expat population than the ones I just typed above 😅. They in fact have much better public transportation than anywhere in areas like Jumeirah or Downtown. Literally everything is cheaper in "Old Dubai". If you're a person that is planning to move to Dubai for pursuing your own business or are coming to pursue a new job, then I would highly suggest that you live in the areas east of the Creek until you're financially stable, and then you can move to whichever area you like. I agree 100% with you on the fact that you can curate your lifestyle to live according to your income and budget in DXB. I don't spend anywhere near 10K/mo and I am definitely living a comfortable life.
Hi, thats really interesting. Most people want to live in the glitzy areas but old dubai is def a vibe and more hustle and bustle. Im assuming a lot of the 'labourer' expats from South asia live there, so has more Community feel and generally its considered poorer but any other negatives?
@@sayaa1600 It's not poor per se. But yes, these areas do have a lot of people from South and Southeast Asia (but so do all the areas in Dubai). What's the negative in having cheaper rents, cheaper groceries and better public transportation? These are literally the best areas to save money here in Dubai.

For the local Emiratis, life is almost free. Free education, free healthcare. Retirement at 49 years. They are even allocated a piece of land to build a house. This is fully paid for by the Dubai government. Many large companies such as Emirates airlines, exclusive hotels and restaurants are fully or partly owned by the government there. So Dubai is actually very Socialist. Did right-wing people know this? 
STOP saying it is Zero income tax. They make it up instead with endless random fees and charges for foreigners it is insane. I lived in Dubai for 2 years and absolutely hated it. It's true that not everything that glitters is gold
What fees are you referring to that would trump a 0% income tax? I live in Dubai and have never experienced any fees that are specific to me as a foreigner.

Many people commute yes, Abu Dhabi is similar price to Dubai but other Emirates are much cheaper. Less flashy than Dubai.

Yep, you can (the set up for 0% tax is the same for all the Emirates in the UAE, not just Dubai)
