    Thanks for the vid! I got a FUEL EX 8 (great for those who can't afford carbon) a few months ago (my first NEW mtb). I don't race and can't afford multiple bikes right now. THIS BIKE IS WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! I greatly appreciate your overview of upgrades.

      Nice! I actually debated over getting an 8 myself, I am a fan of alloy and Trek really does it well. Plus the 8 is well built and perfect platform for upgrades, glad you like it and thanks for stopping by!

      Wonder how this compares to the Tallboy? Or the Pivot 429. I like the plush smoother feel.

      @@mattdonaldson4439 My Buddy has a 429, its more "pedalie" than the Fuel is (not as plush_ Not sure about the tall boy. Thanks for stopping by!

      @@NerdsonDirtMTB for an all around bike would you prefer the 429 or Fuel? I was worried about the travel. I like the plush feel but also need the pedaling capabilities. Where I rode in NW Georgia theres a lot of pedaling to get to the downhills. I love the new swichblade. I rented it a few weeks back. Seems to be an all around sweet ride

      @NerdsonDirtMTB  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mattdonaldson4439 For me it would be the Fuel, 120 in the back is just to close to "Downcountry" travel, the new fuel is more of a straight up trail bike that pedals pretty well. Another buddy of mine loves his switchblade, he's put that thing through the wringer with no troubles lol.

    Did you change the travel of the shock? Form 130mm to 140mm?

    Have been having issues with my bottom bracket.. creaking a lot. Have you had issues with yours. Brought it to the shop a couple of times to have it serviced but it still creaks!

    • @NerdsonDirtMTB
      @NerdsonDirtMTB  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have them grease the pivot hardware. Our shop we do that to every full sus bike that goes out, a lot of shops don't. Could very well be a pivot issue. Good luck!

    Nice bike dude! I already have the same 2020 fuel ex 9.8 but, with the project one customization program! I also have an Ibis Ripmo. I maked the same change of tires, an assegai 2.5 and a minion dhr 2.4. Its curious but when I picked up the bike, the brakes that I haved was the XT 4 piston of the past generation, but I really like it because I have those brakes on my Ripmo too. I really recommend you to change those rotors for the xt ice tech ones, the braking change a lot! Also I am waiting some months to make a complete suspension service and make the same changes as you on the fork; grip2 and more travel. Next up, I will buy a coil shock, probably a cane creek, because as same as you, I feel the rear suspension stiffer. Enjoy your bike! Regards from Mexico! Lets RIDE!

      How do you compare the fuel to the ripmo?

    • @druxeselmejor
      @druxeselmejor 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric Alvarez I know that the Ripmo its catalog as a trail bike but, in my opinion, it is more like an all mountain or an enduro bike. The confidence on rough terrains and the speed you can get from it its really insane. Take a look for example a Giant Reigh 29. Giant says its an enduro bike but, if you analyze the measurements of the frame, its pretty the same as the Ibis. On climbing and descents the Ripmo its much more an all rounder than the Fuel EX, but you can used it the two bikes for the same use. After I rode some kilometers with the Trek and compare with the Ibis, is not a surprising that the Ripmo win for two years in a row the best trail bike award on the Enduro Magazine Trail Bike Test. With the changes Im planning to to do on the suspension of the Fuel EX, I have no doubt that the ride will change a lot and makes the Trek a mini Slash. Any more questions? I hear you!
